My Grammy & Pa always kept guns, sometimes loaded guns, in their rural house. However, we were told from a very young age to NEVER go in their room and NEVER touch the guns. If we were even caught opening the door, we would get a severe talking to, and maybe even a spanking. We learned as small children that guns were not toys and you couldn't play with them.
"No, not me. It'll never happen to me"... Well, it wouldn't have, had you locked up your gun or even just not had it loaded.. Ya Tool. Makes me so angry.
@epcdaniel Why didnt they arrest the parents for 1. Leaving their young kids home alone WITH their friends and 2. Leaving a rifle sitting by a chair with the bullets in it! The cops should have shot the parents in the face when they arrived at the hospital
@greatestsongsofLIFE I don't know why not. They should have. ;) I mean, not so much shot them in face, hahaha. But they should have been held responsible.
The wound she suffered is called keyholing. The bullet tumbles, tears, thrashes, and destroys the inside of the body. It enters in a lower area and exits in a higher area, causing massive damage.
Its times like this which is the reason why DCF can be so strict .. and if I were Danny or Desire, I wouldn't talk to those kids again. They left her for dead, if Danny weren't there!
it should not take someones kid getting shot for the parents to learn to not keep a loaded gun in reach of kids its common sense kids play with things the real sad thing is my 6 year old brother knows better then to play with guns
@dickcheney6 lol yeah i thought the same thing when she said how could this happen, its like ehh well.... 2+2=4 in my world.. but, it was certainly still considered an accident, of course no one meant to shoot her, but luckily thanks to this story, imagine how many people went out the next day and purchased safes and possibly prevented their own childrens deaths.
That has to be one of the DUMMEST parents i have seen..saying that he was shocked that she had been shot when he left a loaded gun around where they could get to it..That guy is lucky that he did not have to bury his little girl because of his stupidity.
My dad has two shotguns in the house and ive never played with them when i was a kid and we keep them locked and never use them unless we go hunting this is why guns are not safe around kids
This show, along with Katts and Dog was the most educational show I've seen. Too bad it's not on the air anymore, or on DVD. They really need to do both!
Since this happened in Indianapolis, IN and how serious this girls injuries were, Iam surprised she wasn't taken to Methodist Hospital; it is the ONLY level 1 trauma center in the state of Indiana. Anyone who is injured in a crash at the speedway is taken there.
@northey2008 she's not stupid... think in the mothers position. It's accepted denial. She knows it's bad but when it's your own child your mind just doens't want to accept it, so you will be in denial and want to believe that it's not that bad just so you don't break down and go crazy.
i am awestruck and how "beyond her years" that lil girl who got shot is... when she speaks.. the things she says, you'd expect from someone much older.. esp the part where she thought about all the kids that got shot and died. kid's are so often underestimated. they deserve so much more respect than we usually give them.
Typical hick dad, you NEVER leave a gun out where kids can get it and ALWAYS lock up the ammo seperately. Thank god she survived. I can't imagine what I would do if one of my kids got shot.
Idiot dad he said "you hear the stories..." and yet he left his gun and ammo out with young kids. You should always lock your gun and ammo up. if you dont have a big enough lock for the gun, then just lock up the ammo....
Read the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution dumbass.
If guns are banned, the criminals who mock the laws of society and your liberal way of thinking will still get them regardless, and use them for their evil purposes while the law abiding citizen is left with nothing to defend themselves with. I would rather be alive with a gun in my hand looking at the dead body of a criminal who tried to rob/kill me, than to be the one dead with the criminal standing over me with a gun in his hand.
@joshguy64 Owning guns is fine, but they must be properly locked. More people are shot by their own guns in accidents than those protecting themselves with it.
That's also another point I forgot to mention. When you purchase a firearm, most gun stores offer classes and/or training on how to properly handle and safely secure a firearm so that way someone does not accidentally gets shot with your own weapon.
That is part of the failure of the parents in this segment, not securing their firearm safely.
Its just that I am sick of all the anti-gun morons who clutter here to spew their 'ban all guns' speeches and drama.
@joshguy64 I don't have a problem with guns, but I'm aware that statistically, your loved ones are more likely to be injured or killed by your own guns (or "guard" dogs for that matter) than someone else's.
Saying that guns kill people is about as stupid as saying that a pencil will make spelling errors.
I will reinstate this once more:
Guns do not kill people unless SOMEONE picks up the gun and SHOOTS it. Just like a pencil wont make a spelling error unless SOMEONE picks it up and WRITES with it.
Asinine huh? Are you an anti-gun person by chance?
You think that all the blame should be put on an inanimate object that WONT SHOOT unless SOMEONE disengages the safety mechanism and PULLS the trigger?
Sure, it was the ignorance and stupidity of the parents to leave a high-powered weapon within reach of smaller hands, but that does NOT mean that all the blame should be put on the weapon, blame the morons who didn't educate themselves and their children about gun safety!
We always had a loaded rifle, shotgun and 22 in our porch when I was growing up. I think they were there to shoot wildlife, like skunks or coyotes if they came on the yard. It was always assumed that you never touched the guns and none of us kids ever did touch them. But the big difference is that we were never allowed to have friends over if my parents weren't home. Friends will get you in trouble every time.
@maggerdaiser unfortunately kids don't think about that stuff, they said in part one they werent to have anyone over, but they did anyway, more reason they should put this show back on the air, not only did this ep educate kids on why to never touch guns, it educates parents on how to safely have one around
It's bad enough they left the gun out in the open, but WTF were they thinking leaving it loaded with bullets. I know parents make mistakes, but this accident could've been totally preventable.
@mrsnowman102 Actually, the bullets were already in there and when the kid started cocking the gun, the bullets fell out and then he loaded them back in. So yes, it was loaded. Either way-it was stupid to leave a gun there in the open, loaded or unloaded.
What kind of parents leave children that young at home alone?? especially when theirs a rifle out in the open! I don't know anything about guns but don't they sell safety locks for rifles??
I first started getting left home alone for a short time (a couple hours after school) when I was 10 or 11..so about Danny's age. But I agree, it sounds like these kids were left alone too long and too often. Danny was the most responsible one, his friend shouldn't have been playing w/the gun.
This is why I keep trigger locks on all my guns even my M16A4 and M9 tactical and PDW's

davinp 2 years ago 4
It's a Code Blue, Trauma 1. It means the patient is in the act of dying and needs intervention immediately in order to stop it.
Every hospital has a different number. It was always called Code Blue where I worked.
vickiormindyb 2 years ago 4
There is a show on Discovery Health Channel called Code Blue.
That being said, what does the following mean:
Code Blue, Code Red, Code Yellow?
happy7117 2 years ago
It's color coding for triage: a system devised for Multiple casualty incidents, so you can treat the more serious patients first.
Code Blue=Trauma 1, the most severe trauma. Also called a 'true emergency.' Patients w/ code blues injuries are treated first.
Code Red=Trauma 2. Code red patients are those with serious wounds that, if not treated, can become life-threatening.
Code Yellow-Trauma 3, aka the walking wounded. Injuries aren't life-threatening but still require treatment.
vickiormindyb 2 years ago 2
