i use to never stretch before running,i was fine for a while then i picked up annoying injuries..pulled calf muscle, need i say lesson learned... always warm up and stretch guys.
sorry but what you are showing here is the perfect way to injure yourself before start of the training. come on. doing dynamic stretches without being warmed up? what's the sense?! no stretching at all is the modern way to go according to (real) studies
@assailant85 Ye you must stretch some before you run. But he is saying if you just stretch before you run, there is a high chance of you getting injured. Doing dynamic stretches is the best way to warm up and after you are done doing them you strectch a little afterwards. I noticed wehn I started doing dynamic warm ups at this sports improvement place called velocity I have had less injuries during my track season rather than just stretching then running.
@MrDozier95 that's because stretching before running is BAD. why? because it doesn't prevent injuries according to science. so? if you stretched you thought you could run fast afterwards but you weren't warmed up properly and had more injuries. with dynamic stretching you probably have a little warm up and thus less injuries but still you can injure while dynamic stretching. the best: just warming up slowy. -> least injuries. trust me. and wikipedia.
@assailant85 And I have improved my times in the 400m from a 54 to a 52 my freshmen year. Im a sophmore now I run 50 open and 49 splits on the 4x400 relay. You should look up Velocity SP or try to find one. They cost some money but it is very beneficial if you want to get better at anything you want to improve.
@assailant85 Well doesnt matter to me. Im not you so if you want to become worse and be an asshole because you swear you know what you are talking about, you can keep on hurting yourself. "I wont" here nothing about you in sports because your an ass wipe and think what ever you do is working for you. Get your shit shraight. Thats why your probably one of those kids or adults on the videos that people dont even worry about, that people skip a video through cuz they know it will suck
@assailant85 Im ignorant because you think you can put comments on peoples videos that what they do does not work. The subject wasnt even relating to ignorance but if thats what you want to bring up it goes all towards you. Just because you think putting a comment like "perfect way to injure yourself before start of the training" you think your just so briliant. But you see this guy gets great feedback on his videos and you think someone will agree with you to bring him down. So whos ignorant?
@MrDozier95 please look up the word ignorant first. it has something to do with not knowing and keeping ones opinion even though someone else is knowing it better.
comments are for comments. noone has to believe in what I say. But I for myself can say that I read about the newest scientific research in exactly this topic - stretching to prevent injuries and the results are: don't do it. stretching is for getting flexible, nothing else.
good feedback doesn't prove anything, science does.
Would you really do this before, e.g., a race? I mean with those exercises I'm sure the thighs aren't going to feel too alert anymore. As a part of strength exercises for running they might be good though.
@FUACLU ... dude, you have no idea what the difference is between static and dynamic movements. Static stretches are slow ones that gradually elongate your muscles and are best for post-workout!
I do dynamic stretching before a race because it warms your body up for performance and I do static stretching when I get done with ALL my running events. Never do static stretching before ANY competition!
Hello @nuttyteacher, The reason why dynamic stretching is important to do before any competition is to warm your muscles up and get them ready to go. If we were to do static stretching before our competition it would have no use on our body because we havent worked our muscles yet. So static stretching is done AFTER your meet/ training day which is based on a recovery time from you working your muscles. This helps prevent injury and helps your muscles relax .
i am a rower and like we say:"athleets row, others just play!" try doing 2 km in 7:10 minutes with pure muscle power and only them you may say something! we warm up before everything and stretch AFTER everything and it is not the best way,it's the only way!
