Roman Catholicism-~2000 yo faith built upon St.Peter
And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it

Saint Peter the Apostle, original name Simeon, or Simōn (died c. ad 64, Rome), disciple of Jesus Christ, recognized in the early Christian church as the leader of the disciples and by the Roman Catholic church as the first of its unbroken succession of popes.

Protestantism is a complex Western Christian movement that derives from the sixteenth‐century Reformation in Europe. Rejecting the authority of the Pope and thus becoming separated from Roman Catholicism, the movement stresses the authority of the Bible, an accent on grace as the agent that brings God and human beings together, and “the priesthood of all believers,”
"Whosoever shall have separated himself from the Catholic Church, no matter how praiseworthy such a person may fancy his life has been, yet for that one crime of having cut himself off from the unity of Christ he shall not have eternal life, but the wrath of God shall abide with him for ever." St. Augustine of Hippo, early 5th century.
I DO NOT CONDONE ABUSES-TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT-MAJOR INS STATS ARE CORRECT Considering the fact that Catholic Churches and clergy far outnumber Protestant Churches by a long shot, that means that the amount of sexually abusive Protestant ministers is a much greater proportion of the overall group than are Catholic priests.Thus-your children are less likely to be abused in a Catholic Church than in a Protestant Church.

Thus, the "Great Apostasy" can only have reference to the tens of thousands of individual sects and the hundreds of millions of Protestants existing today, all of which had their beginnings in the 16th century and who were galvanized by the first Protestant apostate, Martin Luther.
@truthfulreply Indeed. This is why they are failing. All that has sustained them is divine truths to which they hold. One they have rejected is the pope.
Why do you deny the many promises made by Jesus Christ, and Saint Paul, and others, that the only Church which Jesus Christ founded will last forever, when Holy Scripture says clearly and so explicitly that it certainly will last forever?
Why is it that no one can provide a firm date, and provide authentic historical documents showing the names of those who were involved? What was Jesus Christ doing for over one thousand years, while at the same time allowing His supposed "apostate" church to exist status quo until Martin Luther and his Protestant revolt came along? What happened to the billions of poor souls who lived through those same years?
@truthfulreply The apostate Church will continue to exist until it will be destroyed by its pals the circular world. The apostate Church is the Woman that rides a beast in Rev. 17 & Roman Catholic Church fits perfectly the descripution of that false Church!
@bulyabalive WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?This woman , this harlot, this Babylon, this multitude of the wicked, especially the heathen persecuting emperors at Rome, and in all other places, (and they who acted against the Christians under them) are said to be drunk with the blood of the saints, and the blood of the martyrs, by putting the Christians, the Catholics and the servants of God to death, from the foundation of the world to its consummation, by the instigation of the beast, the devil.
@truthfulreply Jesus had no place on this earth to lay His head & He categorically stated that His Kingdom is NOT of this world. Not so with RCC the harlot. She calls herself a "mother" Church. She has signed concordances with kings & goverments of world (fornication). Popes have long claimed dominion over the world & its peoples. Pope Gregory XIs papal bull of 1372 (In Coena Domini) claimed papal dominion over the entire Christian world, secular & religious, & Cont/..
@truthfulreply Cont/.. excommunicated all who failed to obey the popes and to pay them taxes. Pope Alexander VI (1492-1503) claimed that all undiscovered lands belonged to the Roman Pontiff, for him to dispose of as he pleased in the name of Christ as His vicar. King John II of Portugal was convinced that in his Bull Romanus Pontifex the pope had granted all that Columbus discovered exclusively to him and his country. However, the king of Spain disputed this.
@truthfulreply The descendants of Aztecs, Incas, and Mayas have not forgotten that Roman Catholic priests, backed by the secular sword, gave their ancestors the choice of conversion (which often meant slavery) or death. They made such an outcry when JP II visited Latin America proposed elevating Junipero Serra (a 18th-century enforcer of Catholicism among the Indians) to sainthood that the pope was forced to hold the ceremony in secret. This surely is not the way of Christ.
@truthfulreply the woman mentioned in chapt 17 of revelations tells about the Harlots..it symbolized the church the great Whore sitteth upon many waters,,means this Harlots who fornicates with many countries.. who is the Church do you think has the history of blood massackering the Christians torturing them and Nailed Christ in the Cross? theres no other than the Roman Religons for centuries they commint atrocities in the name of their Church!
@jyan1969 As a Catholic It looks as though you & your family never understood the CCC or any of our Catholic doctrine-which PROVES WE DO NOT WORSHIP MARY.
The Nicene Creed sums up our faith-ever say this prayer? Do you know what it means?
Your opinions of our Catholic faith prove otherwise.Your understanding of the highly symbolic book of Revelations show you are mixing the past with present & future events. Why do you cherish the Holy Bible & attack the Church that gave it to you??
@bulyabalive A mystery. That is, a secret, because what follows of the name and title of the great harlot is to be taken in a mystical sense. — Babylon. Either the city of the devil in general; or, if this place be to be understood of any particular city, pagan Rome, which then and for 300 years persecuted the Church, and was the principal seat both of empire and idolatry.
This is past present & future-you better get another look @ Revelations-better yet keep walking in Anarchy.
@truthfulreply RCC is a religion of mysteries. The sacrifice of the Mass is one of their mystery, while the golden cup with Popes hold wherever they go proclaiming that it "god" in the cup caused the death of many saint which could not accept such an abomination to our Lord! The colours fits Rome perfectly - puple & red, Wow!
@bulyabalive You honestly think you know this book? The Catholic Church disciphered its meanings hundreds of years ago-it compiled the bible -remember?
Keep guessing your interpretations-this is exactly why we have how many thousands of Protestant denominations-no one can come up with the same meanings0yet all claim to hold the truth.
An oz of common sense would tell you the True Church started W/Christ & must still be in existance. Thats Ok keep denying-It doesn't change historical truth
@truthfulreply >>You honestly think you know this book? The Catholic Church disciphered its meanings hundreds of years ago-it compiled the bible -remember?<<
Oh yes I do. There is no use for you to credit your Church for it, the flatly denied it is NOT the only rule to our faith. They do not believe it. They do not need it. They can just create doctrines out of the blue as it fits them.
@truthfulreply I was born and baptized in catholic. I grew up with a parents of strict follower of virgin family worshipping them just like the baby Jesus we called Ninos now after 16 yrs of my age, I renounce that faith in Roman religion... my simple question to you the Roman Empires since the times of Jesus are All Pagans! who tortured and crucified the Lord Jesus...How come the True Religion of Christ came from Rome??? instead of Jerusalem the Land and birth of Christ the Messiah?
Why do you believe in the Bible at all, and reinforce your beliefs with the man made doctrine of Sola Scriptura, knowing full well that your Bible was handed down by a supposed "apostate" church? YJAT ONLY ANTICATHOLICS BELIEVE
Why is it that no one can find any authentic historical documentation
@truthfulreply >>Why do you believe in the Bible at all, and reinforce your beliefs with the man made doctrine of Sola Scriptura, knowing full well that your Bible was handed down by a supposed "apostate" church?<<
And why don't you believe the Book which you believe (wongly moreover) that you Church gave it? What book records the saying of God? Tell me! Where do you read "Jesus said" the Lord God said, the Lord has spoken" in your tradition, tell me which book?
@truthfulreply "Why do you stretch the meaning of the word "apostasy" to apply to a whole Church instead of its rightful meaning of an individual basis?"
And why do you believe a Church is an organisation set in Rome and not an organism based on Christ's redemptive work through the Holy Spirit! Why limit God by force in RCC boarders as if Jesus died to save Roman Catholics, & not the whole world?
@truthfulreply "Apostasy: "Abandonment of ONE'S religious faith.""
What is the definition of Apostasy in Biblical sense?
"Notice that the definitions apply to individual persons ONLY and not to the entire Church."
And I am also quick to notice that you separate individuals from the Church as if a Church is a brick building not the people themselves.Your Church is apostate because it endorses apostacy as a Church making its followers sin against God by controlling them in agreement
Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen."
Those who say Christ's Church apostatized, also have said that Saint Paul must have lied here, for how can there be glory in the apostatized Church of Jesus Christ, and what does "for ever and ever" mean?
@truthfulreply "Those who say Christ's Church apostatized, also have said that Saint Paul must have lied here, for how can there be glory in the apostatized Church of Jesus Christ, and what does "for ever and ever" mean?"
The glory is NOT in apostate Church because it an apostate Church. It means the Church departed from truth. BTW what do you understand make up a Church? Does being a Church member makes you a believer?
"And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you desolate; I will come to you."
Those who say Christ's Church apostatized, also have said that Jesus lied in these verses, for the Counselor did not stay forever, but left at some "unspecified time".
@truthfulreply "And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you desolate; I will come to you." John 14:16-18"
Yes good verse to confirm the Vicar of Christ & the interpretor of the His Word(truth), don't you think?
@truthfulreply When the gates of hell prevail against the any Church, then it is NOT the Church of Christ. It is not by magic that those verses are fulfilled because Jesus said them. No. They are fulfilled when believers remain believers in Christ & Christ alone as there Saviour. The gates of hell can open anywhere like they did in Fatima & Romanists believed the lies of the demon masquarading as Mary. So they did prevailed!
@bulyabalive -you are quite mistaken We can prove our roots-historical records & archeology. Plus the bible is a Catholic heirloom. ALL ONE SET OF BELIEFS UNITED INTO ONE FAITH WITH ITS FAITHFUL. Remember the church came hundreds of years BEFORE THE BIBLE. Go to your local library & research the early Christian church . Seek on your own outside your church like I did-it led me right back into the Catholic church-thank GOD for all the scandals-thats what compelled me to seek truth-A BIT IRONIC!
@truthfulreply The Roman Catholic Church was not the only Church before reformation. That is a bitter fact for you! Community believers who followed the example of the early Church in the NT where systematically persecuted & murdered by Catholics on Popes orders throught the centuries. Catholic Church after reformation formed two terrible equisitors, the Dominicans & the Jesuits to plan & carry out their dirty work of executing Protestants. Church of Christ? NO WAY!
@bulyabalive Then again keep up your fruitless efforts-it helps Catholics search truth & it makes us even stronger & more devout Catholics-now it all makes so much sense to me-I can actually believe in what is proven historically. It gives us catholics a strong foundation with which to bulid our faith upon ever more. Keep up your works in vain! ;-D
@truthfulreply Yes. In one way our "fruitless efforts" helps Catholic "church idol worshipers" to descend more into darkness. Just look at the Catholic Answers web. These fellows are so determined to up hold all the falsehood their Church used to deceive the nations in all ways. It is not a bad guess that very soon Mary will be declared a co-saviour (or has she already been?). Yes, a counterfeit strong foundation. The devil does not sleep, does he?
The answer is, they do not want to see it, for if they do, they would have to admit that when they made that false charge, they have also just called Jesus Christ a liar.
Here are more verses on the same theme of the perpetuality of the only Church which Jesus Christ founded, all of which would have to be denied by the false accusers:
Everyone can easily see that it is the promise of Jesus Christ to be with His Church every day in every century until the end of the world, and with no gaps whatsoever, not even one single day, and that quote is right from the Protestant King James Bible, one of the same Bibles which those who make this false charge use. If I can clearly see the meaning of this verse, then why can't they who make the false charge see it at all?
@truthfulreply "Everyone can easily see that it is the promise of Jesus Christ to be with His Church every day in every century until the end of the world, .."
Yes, but unfortunately we shall see and understand God's True Church at the end of the age! Right now RCC is the bitter enemy of the True Church (by Church I mean believers of Christ truly redeemed) she is the most subtle, dangerously evil even to her own members.
First of all, the promises of Jesus Christ and of others in Holy Scripture are completely ignored by those who make this false charge. Read this verse taken right from their very own Bible.
"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
Many non Catholics have made the false charge that the Catholic Church Apostatized shortly after the last Apostle died and therefore the Catholic Church of today is not the primitive Christian Church founded by Jesus Christ in Matthew 16:18. No genuine historical documents, exact dates, or names are ever presented by them to substantiate this false charge
@truthfulreply Roman Catholic Church was not there during the time of apostles or post-apostolic era. It was after the likes of Clement, Ignatius, etc who disorganized the order of the Church & brought in the heirarchy mentality that enventually the lust for power started taking shape. The result was that the "Old Catholic Church" was tone into two rivaling bitter enemy Churches who excommunicated one another. Besides Catholic Church was not the only Church before reformation.
The meaning is the same as for "apostasy" with the difference being in the numbers of individual apostates.
Now that we know that the entire Church could have not apostatized as detractors charge, and since the "Great Apostasy" has happened already, then who is responsible for this blatant crime against Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church?
Please show me the verse in the Bible which gives the authority for any person to found his or her own church other than the ONE which Jesus Christ founded?
Can I, or anyone else simply hold up a Bible and declare, "This is my authority"?
If you believe this, then please show me the verse which sanctions it.
Ezekiel 3:18-19, "Suppose I tell you that wicked people will surely die, but you don't warn them or speak out so that they can change their wicked ways in order to save their lives. Then these wicked people will die because of their sin, but I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But suppose you warn the wicked people, and they don't turn from their wicked ways. Then they will die because of their sin, but you will save yourself."
On the eve of His death Jesus fulfilled His promise saying, "Take ye and eat. This is my body." Those who have the true Faith accept this. Before the "Deformation" of the 16th century, when being Christian was synonymous with being Catholic, all Christians believed this and obeyed
Our Lord's command by receiving Him in the Eucharist so that they would "have life".
@truthfulreply "On the eve of His death Jesus fulfilled His promise saying, "Take ye and eat. This is my body." Those who have the true Faith accept this. Before the "Deformation" of the 16th century, when being Christian was synonymous with being Catholic, all Christians believed this and obeyed"
As we know, having the Scriptures "alone" does not guarantee one the correct interpretation when one rejects the Church which Christ founded on St. Peter and his successors. In the Scriptures there "are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do
also the other Scriptures, to their own destruction." (II Peter 3:16)
@truthfulreply "As we know, having the Scriptures "alone" does not guarantee one the correct interpretation when one rejects the Church which Christ founded on St. Peter and his successors."
But who on earth taught that Scripture needs man's interpretation? It the Holy Spirit who interpretates Scripture mainly to those who seek God through His word, not those who lazly sit back waiting to the spoon-fed, moreover by lies! Claiming to be Peter's successors does not guarantee truth.
Did Jesus Christ say that the Bible is the final authority on earth? No, He did not. Jesus Christ said the final authority is the Church. See Matt 18:15-18. The Church has the final authority to mitigate disputes, and to dispense the truth.
@truthfulreply "Did Jesus Christ say that the Bible is the final authority on earth?" The Bible is the only Book ON EARTH that contains the words of God & the revelation of Jesus Christ as God. God gave the Bible to speak to His Church. A Church that hates that voice is not of God. Mat 18:(the whole of it) is simply a discipline section of believers. Jesus is teaching us how to walk with Him. We are not against leaders but against a worldly state Rome pushes down our throats.
The earliest example of 'Apostolic Succession' is the first thing the Apostles did after Jesus ascended into heaven. Judas was dead by his own hand and the eleven remaining Apostles voted to replace his empty office with another office holder, Matthias.
@truthfulreply "The earliest example of 'Apostolic Succession' is the first thing the Apostles did after Jesus ascended into heaven. Judas was dead by his own hand and the eleven remaining Apostles voted to replace his empty office with another office holder, Matthias.
The verse I am interested in is Acts:1:21 - the criteria was that these men were with Jesus physically throughtout while your popes are not. Paul was also uniquely called. No succession.
"When He said this, He breathed upon them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit; whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.'"
@truthfulreply "When He said this, He breathed upon them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit; whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.'"
Christ did not say, “EAT this bread in memory of me”. Nor does He say, “DRINK this wine in memory of me”. What He says is, “DO this in memory of me”. And what did Christ just DO that he wanted his hand picked priests to also DO? He blessed and broke the bread and said, “This is my body...”. In other words, He consecrated the bread and wine.
It seems to me that Christ was instructing His priests how to consecrate the bread and wine in His absence.
@truthfulreply "Christ did not say, “EAT this bread in memory of me”. Nor does He say, “DRINK this wine in memory of me”."
But Christ did say "Do this in remembrance of Me" If bread & wine is Jesus Himself, then why would you remember Him? Afterall you believe He is present! Simple logic!
wine. He’s not simply telling them to eat and drink, but telling them exactly how to bless, break and repeat the words of consecration. “DO” all these things. It also seems to me that this interpretation would be consistent with the fact that Christ gives His priests other specific instructions (such as the forgiving and retaining of sins) at the end of the Gospels as well - instructions that were NOT given to the multitudes, but only to his hand-picked priests.
@truthfulreply There is no such a thing as Catholic priests in the NT teachings! Therefore your priests are not Jesus' priests. As far as the Bible is concerned, all believers are priests 1 Pet. 2:9. All those who are redeemed of the Lord & called out of darkness into His marvellous light are His priests. Catholic Church as usual steals what belongs to the belivers & what belongs to Christ as our Redeemer to glorify her leaders which is herself.
Matt. 19:6 - Jesus says a husband and wife become one flesh which is consummated in the life giving union of the marital act. This union of marital love which reflects Christ's union with the Church is physical, not just spiritual Thus, when Paul says we are a part of Christ'sbody (Eph. 1:22-23; 5:23,30-31; Col. 1:18,24)he means that our union with Christ is physical, not just spiritual. But our union with Christ can only be physical if He is actually giving us something physical, that is Himself
@truthfulreply The husband & wife become one flesh, but is "the one flesh" physical? Can't you see that they are still separate persons? Do you mean to say husband & wife are siames twins or what? In any case that is just a picture of what happens to souls of men who accept to be saved by the Lord. It is in the spirit done by the Holy Spirit.
@bulyabalive truthfulreply Explain Matthew 16:18-19----Did you believe Christ broke his promise to his church--[definition-all his faithful united in one set of beliefs according to the teachings & traditions of the apostles]??
@truthfulreply Jesus never breaks His Word nor His promises to the Church or individuals. But as old Isreal walked away from God prefering their idols, Jesus leaves them & even gives them up unto their own deception.
Rom. 1:21-23 "Because that when they knew God, the glorified Him not as God, ..but became vain in their imaginations, & their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise they became fools & changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image..
@bulyabalive hn 6:63 - Protestants often argue that Jesus' use of the phrase "the spirit gives life" shows that Jesus was only speaking symbolically. However, Protestants must explain why there is not one place in Scripture where "spirit" means "symbolic." As we have seen, the use of "spirit" relates to supernatural faith. What words are spirit and life? The words that we must eat Jesus' flesh and drink His blood, or we have no life in us.
@truthfulreply Jn 6:63 "It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, & they are life." What more do you want? Do you want to say the Spirit of God is physical or what? If so how does He look like?
@bulyabalive I can no longer carry this conversation with you-sorry-you deny that you are an ex priest-look @ the links all over the net. You interpret scriptures -which is exactly what the bible states not to do-I leave the interpretation to my ~2000 year old church who has used hundreds of biblical scholars & theologians with knowledge of orig. languages. Our conversation ends here-I will say my prayers for you.
@truthfulreply Lol, about interpretation of Scriptures. I wonder who is fooling who. You are the one who is interpreting or at least agree with those who took it upon themselves to interprete Scriptures instead of just reading them & let God open their understanding of His Word! The Bible interpretes itself. I refuse for example to interprete Mat. 16:18 while the all lot of you insist on interpreting that verse for the benefit of your Church & popes! Lol.
"The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross transcends time. It covers all those who lived before Good Friday and all those who came after it. The Catholic Church has never taught that it offers a NEW sacrifice at each Mass. The Mass is the SAME sacrifice offered on Calvary—extended through time and sacramentally made present in our present life situations."
@truthfulreply Catechism puts it this way: "In this divine sacrifice which is clebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the alter of the cross is contained & is offered in an unbloody manner." Pg. 344#1367.
"When the Church Celebates the Eucharist, she commemorates Christ's Passover, and it is made present. As often as the sacrifice of the corss by which Christ our Pasch has been sacrificed is celebrated on the alter, the work of...
@truthfulreply ..redemption is carried out." Pg. 343 #1364.
The problem with this teaching from "the Church Magisterium" is this: it contradicts the Bible it claims to have given. The Bible plainly reveals that the work of redemption was a once time act which was completed when Jesus died on the cross:
Heb. 9:26 "..but now ONCE in the end of the world hath He (Jesus) appeared TO PUT AWAY SIN by the sacrifice of Himself."...Cont/
@truthfulreply Heb. 10:10 "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL."
The Bible categorically shows that when Jesus shed His blood, that one time act purchased eternal redemption for all who would put their faith & trust in Christ alone:
Heb. 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats & calves, but by His own blood He entered in ONCE into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us."
@truthfulreply The bible also specifically states that this sacrifice need not be done daily:
Heb. 7:27 "Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, & then for the people's for this He (Jesus) did ONCE, when He offered up Himself."
Cate is adamant: "Every time this mistery is celebrated, 'the work of our redemption is carried on..' P354#1405.
Bible is equally adamant: Heb. 9:28 "So Christ was ONCE offered to bear the sins of many.."
@truthfulreply Heb. 10:12 "But this man, after He had offered ONCE SACRIFICE FOR SINS FOR EVER, sat down on the right hand of God;"
Jesus finished the work of man's redemption, ONCE & FOR ALL. Catholic Church wants to appear it has power to play a part in the redemptive work of Christ to STEAL from the Lord the CREDIT HE ALONE DESERVES. They have another sacrilegious statement Cate: "The sacrifice of Christ & the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice" Pg.344#1367..
@truthfulreply Really, to suggest that a priest peforming a religious ritual is part of the torturous death Jesus endured is nothing short of blasphemy! To associate the rituals of the Catholic church with Christ's work on the cross is ludicrous. The Catholic Church played no part in the work that made redemption possible & it deserves no credit. They want to force Christ to share His glory with their Church while the Bible shows that Christ alone deserves that Glory.
What Catholics Believe about John 6 By: Tim Staples
For millions of non-Catholic Christians, Jesus was using pure symbolism in John 6:53 when he declared to his followers, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” The reasons non-Catholics give can usually be boiled down to these: CONTINUED BELOW
@truthfulreply Satan started the Catholic Answers organisation for a purpose. I wonder where the likes of Tim Staples will hide when they face the wrath of God & realising the broad way to hell they are leading their followers like you. They are fighting the Holy Spirit tooth & nail to keep Catholics in bondage of an institution heading for spiritual destruction. Why don't you just give us the conclusion of John 6? Couldn't Staples conclude the topic of meat & blood?
: First, a literal interpretation would make Christians into cannibals. Second, Jesus claims to be a “door” in John 10:9 and a “vine” in John 15:5. Do Catholics believe they must pluck a leaf from Jesus the vine or oil the hinges on Jesus the door to get into heaven? So the non-Catholic claims Jesus is using metaphor in John 6, just as he does elsewhere in the Gospels.
Vulgate [Lat. Vulgata editio =common edition], most ancient extant version of the whole Christian Bible . Its name derives from a 13th-century reference to it as the "editio vulgata." The official Latin version of the Roman Catholic Church, it was prepared c.AD 383-AD 405 by St. Jerome (c.342-420) at the request of Pope St. Damasus I
@bulyabalive I have the joy, peace & love in Christ through my Catholic faith.I try to do the Lords work through good deeds-recieve the sacraments of my church-continue to grow in knowledge of our Lord through mass & scriptures. Only GOD knows whos written in the scrolls-otherwise we wouldn't need a Judgement day -now would we?
@truthfulreply "I have the joy, peace & love in Christ through my Catholic faith."
Where have I heard before? Do not the Hindus, Buddists, New Agers & all Eastern & voodoo plus cults say the very same thing? If doing good & sacraments could take you to heaven, then why on earth did Jesus had to die? For what purpose? Couldn't you do those things without Him shedding His blood?
@truthfulreply Oh yes, I have also negative opinion on Satan & his angels but my negative opinion does not make them good, does it? So it is with your Church. The true fact is it is an apostate Church, I cannot change that fact! We who are simple minded are able to believe God & His word & the gospel in its simplicity. The Apostles were simple minded who never attended any seminary (Acts 4:13). What is they had was Jesus who should be the possession for every believer.
@bulyabalive "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it."Matthew 16:18
Then why does the Bible say in 1Timothy 3:15, 'the CHURCH is the pillar and the foundation of truth'? DID CHRIST LIE?
If you believe that ALL scripture is inspired, 2Timothy 3:16...
Then please explain to me why the Gospels of Peter and Thomas are not in your Bible?
Theres no index un my bible to tell me what books belong in it
@bulyabalive Matt. 19:6 - Jesus says a husband and wife become one flesh which is consummated in the life giving union of the marital act. This union of marital love which reflects Christ's union with the Church is physical, not just spiritual. Thus, when Paul says we are a part of Christ's body (Eph. 1:22-23; 5:23,30-31; Col. 1:18,24), he means that our union with Christ is physical, not just spiritual. But our union with Christ can only be physical if He is actually giving us something physical
@truthfulreply Neither Mat. 19:6 nor Christ's headship in Eph. 1:22-23, 5:23, 30-31; Col.1:18,24 validates transubsitiation & the witchcraft ritual performed in Catholic mass. Catholic Church does not believe in Christ as the Head of the Church. She believes its popes are the head of the Church hence they gave themselves the chair which belongs to the Holy Spirit who is the true Vicar of Christ.
@truthfulreply I guess in Acts 20:28, Mat 6:11, Luke 11:3 you actually believe it is the Catholic Eucharist Jesus is talking about?
What about interpreting the above verses with Mat. 4:4 "But He [Jesus] answered & said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord."? Jesus being the Word Himself is our daily bread, honey! Take out your Bible you proudly claim your Church gave, & read it, His word feeds your soul.
@bulyabalive Foreshadowing of the Eucharistic Sacrifice
Gen. 14:18 - this is the first time that the word "priest" is used in Old Testament. Melchizedek is both a priest and a king and he offers a bread and wine sacrifice to God.
Psalm 76:2 - Melchizedek is the king of Salem. Salem is the future Jeru-salem where Jesus, the eternal priest and king, established his new Kingdom and the Eucharistic sacrifice which He offered under the appearance of bread and wine.
@truthfulreply And your point? Did Melchizedek turn the bread into flesh & wine into blood? Gen. 14:18 is interpreted Heb. 7, which is Jesus our Lord the High Priest for ever in order of Melchisedec. Ps. 76:2 is wrongly interpreted by you.
@bulyabalive Psalm 110:4 - this is the prophecy that Jesus will be the eternal priest and king in the same manner as this mysterious priest Melchizedek. This prophecy requires us to look for an eternal bread and wine sacrifice in the future. This prophecy is fulfilled only by the Eucharistic sacrifice of the Catholic Church.
@bulyabalive 2 Chron. 26:18 - only validly consecrated priests will be able to offer the sacrifice to God. The Catholic priests of the New Covenant trace their sacrificial priesthood to Christ.
@bulyabalive John 6:53 - 58 - Jesus does not correct their literal interpretation. Instead, Jesus eliminates any metaphorical interpretations by swearing an oath and being even more literal about eating His flesh. In fact, Jesus says four times we must eat His flesh and drink His blood. Catholics thus believe that Jesus makes present His body and blood in the sacrifice of the Mass. Protestants, if they are not going to become Catholic, can only argue that Jesus was somehow speaking symbolically
@bulyabalive You cherish your bible and attack ther church that compiled it-I would call that contradition.. Why on earth would the church go against her own book? EXPLAIN THIS PLEASE
@bulyabalive THE ONLY Christian church in existance until the 16th century was Catholic. If she went into apostacy-what are your thoughts of all the Catholics up until that time-are they condemned? Do you honestly think Christ waited ~16 centuries for his real church?
@bulyabalive John 6:63 - Protestants often argue that Jesus' use of the phrase "the spirit gives life" shows that Jesus was only speaking symbolically. However, Protestants must explain why there is not one place in Scripture where "spirit" means "symbolic." As we have seen, the use of "spirit" relates to supernatural faith. What words are spirit and life? The words that we must eat Jesus' flesh and drink His blood, or we have no life in us.
No, honey, it is the other way round, they interpreted Jesus as He was speaking literally so they departed. It was NOT Jesus doing the interpreting, but His fake disciples did. Sound familia, doesn't it?
@bulyabalive ALL Fathers of the Catholic church believed, taught & handed this down-so after~1550 yrs-Protestors like yourself preach otherwise-thats your right-We have ours-why are you creating more heresies?
"'And was carried in His Own Hands: ‘how carried in His Own Hands'? Because when He commended His Own Body and Blood, He took into His Hands that which the faithful know; and in a manner carried Himself, when He said, 'This is My Body.'" Augustine, On the Psalms, 33:1,10 (A.D. 392-418).
@truthfulreply Augustine: [The sacraments] bear the names of the realities which they resemble. As, therefore, in a certain manner the sacrament of Christ's body is Christ's body, and the sacrament of Christ's blood is Christ's blood” (Augustine, Letter 98, Boniface). Augustine believed that the bread & cup were signs, which he defines: “a SIGN is a thing which, over and above the impression it makes on the senses, ....” (On Christian Doctrine, 2, 1).
@truthfulreply The 2000 years song of RCC is as empty as a loud gong. BTW I have never been a priest, wherever have you got that idea? Telling you that unless you believe in Jesus Christ alone as the ONLY Saviour is not fooling you. However you are so much in love with your idols, that means you are unable to take your eyes away from the object of your love i.e. your Church & the rubbish they offer, to see who the real LOVE is, i.e. Christ.
@bulyabalive- THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS PROFESSED CHRIST-LIFE DEATH RESURRECTION FOR SALVATION TO ALL MANKIND, YOU HAVE STATED ENOUGH SARCASMS WHICH RELECT YOUR HATRED OF THE CHURCH-GOOD BYE!
@truthfulreply "THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS PROFESSED CHRIST-LIFE DEATH RESURRECTION FOR SALVATION TO ALL MANKIND, YOU HAVE STATED ENOUGH SARCASMS WHICH RELECT YOUR HATRED OF THE CHURCH-"
Oh yes, I recall they do! In every mass! The priests have power to order Jesus from His throne in heaven, command Him to enter their cookie in the "bloodless sacrfice of the mass", or so they & you believe; and then you eat your god, digest him & maybe he ends up in excrement! Poor fellows!
@bulyabalive Lev. 19:22 – the priests of the old covenant would make atonement for sins with the guilt offering of an animal which had to be consumed. Jesus, the High Priest of the New Covenant, has atoned for our sins by His one sacrifice, and He also must be consumed.
@bulyabalive IF YOU WERE AN EX PRIEST-YOU WOULD KNOW THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS PROFESSED CHRIST FOR ~2000 YEARS. YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF OUR CATHOLIC FAITH PROVES YOU WERE NOT A PRIEST. YOU CAN FOOL OTHERS BUT CAN'T FOOL A CATHOLIC.
@bulyabalive WHAT DO YOU THINK THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS BEEN TEACHING FOR ALL THESE YEARS??? MORE PROOF THAT YOU LIED ABOUT YOUR PRIESTHOOD. WE PROCLAIM HIS CRUCIFIXION FOR OUR SALVATION.
@truthfulreply "WE PROCLAIM HIS CRUCIFIXION FOR OUR SALVATION."
But you also proclaim that the Church is your salvation, don't you?
Qoute: "We declare, say, define, & pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the SALVATION OF EVERY HUMAN CREATURE to be subject to the Roman Pontiff!" (Pope Boniface VIII..Bull Unam Sanctam A.D. 1302).
@bulyabalive YOU KNOW FULL WELL-THE CATHOLIC CHURCH PROFESSES CHRIST IN ALL ITS TEACHINGS,SACRAMENTS & TRADITIONS. THUS- BEING A CATHOLIC--ACCEPT CHRIST AS SAVIOR..THIS IS ELEMENTARY
@truthfulreply Catholic Jesus, if he is not a small child sitting on her mother's lap, he dead on the cross or is held up as a host. Yes you profess Christ who cannot save without his mother, a suffering Christ on the cross (just as Satan loves it); or a timid Jesus who is command & carried around by Catholic Priests. Your Christ cannot even hear you! You must beg dead saints to pray for you! That is not even enough, you have to buy your way out of purgatory! How sad!
@bulyabalive I have the spirit of God-as i can claim-Jesus is Lord-incarnate-word made flesh-came,lived,taught,crucified ,died, & resurrected for our salvation so that sins can be forgiven .The Catholic Church has always professed Christ-all glory & honor are his now & forever-as you know from our Euchairstic liturgy.
@bulyabalive On the eve of His death Jesus fulfilled His promise saying, "Take ye and eat. This is my body." Those who have the true Faith accept this. Before the "Deformation" of the 16th century, when being Christian was synonymous with being Catholic, all Christians believed this and obeyed
Our Lord's command by receiving Him in the Eucharist so that they would "have life".
SO TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FIRST ~1600 YEARS OF CATHOLICS??
@truthfulreply "On the eve of His death Jesus fulfilled His promise saying, "Take ye and eat. This is my body." Those who have the true Faith accept this. "
Yes, and your point? "Do this in remembrance of me" Jesus ended. If anything was deformed by your Church it is that. Christ is received by believing, put your faith in Him alone & trusting that He alone can wipe way your guilt of sin. It is not by the magic transubstantiation as you romanists decieve yourselves.
@bulyabalive -These letters hold truths-to theologians,bib.scholars & historians
Where the bishop appears, there let the people be, just as where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not permitted without authorization from the bishop either to baptize or to hold an agape; but whatever he approves is also pleasing to God. Thus everything you do will be proof against danger and valid."
Saint Ignatius of Antioch, Letter to the Smyrneans, 107 A.D..
@bulyabalive 1 Cor 11:27 "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the Body and Blood of the Lord."
HOW COULD ONE BE GUILTY OF PROFANITY IF THE BREAD IS SYMBOLIC?
St. Paul added, 1 Cor 11:29 "For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the Body eats and drinks judgment upon himself." -IF ITS ONLY A SYMBOL THENWHY IS IT STATE THIS WAY?
@truthfulreply Why should I eat the bread or drink the "cup of the Lord" in unworthy manner? As for as I am concerned, we do it in Remembrance of Him & in a worthy manner, so says the Word of God. We do not transubstatiate bread to make it literal meat of Jesus because it is not nor do we call wine literal blood because it remains wine.
@bulyabalive The Didache (Did-Ah-Key), or teaching of the Apostles, 9:1
Let no one eat or drink of the Eucharist with you except those who have been baptized in the Name of the Lord; for it was in reference to this that the Lord said, "Do not give that which is Holy to dogs." Matthew 7:6
@bulyabalive St. Ignatius of Antioch, Letter to the Romans, 7:3, 106AD
"I desire the bread of GOD, which is the flesh of Jesus Christ."
St. Ignatius of Antioch, Letter to the Smyrneans, 6:2, 106AD
"They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the Flesh of Our Savior Jesus Christ, Flesh which suffered for our sins and which the Father, in His goodness, raised up again. THEY WHO DENY THE GIFT OF GOD ARE PERISHING IN THEIR DISPUTES."
@bulyabalive Lastly-as A Roman Catholic I must say-that ALL Chistians believing in The Holy Trinity -The word made flesh thru our Lord-life.death,& resurrection--has salvation-if they live it through their daily lives & the Lords work is reflected in their deeds. I'm no better than the next person-no one should be self-righteous. However II do believe that my Catholic Church holds a fullness of truth Thru its Sacred Traditions, sacraments ,& liturgys-leaving no voids or questions.
@truthfulreply So you hope is in your Church because you believe it holds the fullness of truth - "through its "sacred traditions, yet it cannot even assure you of a place in heaven? A Church that is so powerful to create another type of hell & promises you that if your loved ones "buys masses" you may possibly leave purgatory, but with no guarantee on how many masses that will release you from that "prison" cannot tell you that your name can not be written in a book of life?
MATTHEW 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.
What is the foundation and pillar of truth? What is a pillar? A pillar is something which is upholding something while being firmly implanted on a solid foundation. Is the pillar of truth the Bible? If you think so, then why does the Bible say it is the Church? See 1Tim 3:15
@truthfulreply Why do I need to explain anything? Mat. 16:18 says "And I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church..etc" So what your point?
1 Tim 3:15 is quoted - or rather misquoted - by Catholic apologists to bolster the supposed authority & infallibility of the RCC magisterium. They seek to impress by quoting Scripture, hoping of course, that the reader would not take a moment of reflection to notice that the verse says nothing.. Cont/
@truthfulreply about college of Roman Catholic bishops. 1 Tim 3:15 "These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar & ground of the truth" Paul identifies the church as God's household, & therefore it comprises every true Christian, not only their leaders. All Christians are the pillar & ground of truth.
@truthfulreply Paul is using a building imagery. A pillar rests on immoveable ground, & together they support a structure. Thus the church upholds & supports the truth revealed by God. God's people are called to preserve the pure teaching of His Word, which is the truth. It is their duty to be light in this dark world. But that does not imply that the church fulfils this great duty perfectly & infallibly. Cont/..
terrible.

Protestantism
The Oxford Companion to United States History | 2001 | Paul S. Boyer | Copyright

Thus, the "Great Apostasy" can only have reference to the tens of thousands of individual sects and the hundreds of millions of Protestants existing today, all of which had their beginnings in the 16th century and who were galvanized by the first Protestant apostate, Martin Luther.

Why do you deny the many promises made by Jesus Christ, and Saint Paul, and others, that the only Church which Jesus Christ founded will last forever, when Holy Scripture says clearly and so explicitly that it certainly will last forever?
truthfulreply 1 week ago
Why is it that no one can provide a firm date, and provide authentic historical documents showing the names of those who were involved? What was Jesus Christ doing for over one thousand years, while at the same time allowing His supposed "apostate" church to exist status quo until Martin Luther and his Protestant revolt came along? What happened to the billions of poor souls who lived through those same years?
Did GOD simply abandon them?

@truthfulreply The apostate Church will continue to exist until it will be destroyed by its pals the circular world. The apostate Church is the Woman that rides a beast in Rev. 17 & Roman Catholic Church fits perfectly the descripution of that false Church!

Apostasy:
"Abandonment of ONE'S religious faith."
That is how one dictionary defines the word.
"The total rejection by a baptized person of the Christian faith he once professed."
That is how a second dictionary defines the word.
The Greek word used is "apostasia", and from a Greek dictionary its meaning is:
"a falling away, defection, forsake".
Notice that the definitions apply to individual persons ONLY and not to the entire Church.
Isn't that exactly what Holy Scripture says?

What is the definition of Apostasy in Biblical sense?
"Notice that the definitions apply to individual persons ONLY and not to the entire Church."

NO WAY!

Right now RCC is the bitter enemy of the True Church (by Church I mean believers of Christ truly redeemed) she is the most subtle, dangerously evil even to her own members.
bulyabalive 1 week ago
First of all, the promises of Jesus Christ and of others in Holy Scripture are completely ignored by those who make this false charge. Read this verse taken right from their very own Bible.

Please show me the verse in the Bible which gives the authority for any person to found his or her own church other than the ONE which Jesus Christ founded?
Can I, or anyone else simply hold up a Bible and declare, "This is my authority"?
If you believe this, then please show me the verse which sanctions it.

Then these wicked people will die because of their sin, but I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But suppose you warn the wicked people, and they don't turn from their wicked ways. Then they will die because of their sin, but you will save yourself."

But who on earth taught that Scripture needs man's interpretation? It the Holy Spirit who interpretates Scripture mainly to those who seek God through His word, not those who lazly sit back waiting to the spoon-fed, moreover by lies! Claiming to be Peter's successors does not guarantee truth.

Did Jesus Christ say that the Bible is the final authority on earth? No, He did not. Jesus Christ said the final authority is the Church. See Matt 18:15-18. The Church has the final authority to mitigate disputes, and to dispense the truth.
truthfulreply 1 week ago
@truthfulreply "Did Jesus Christ say that the Bible is the final authority on earth?" The Bible is the only Book ON EARTH that contains the words of God & the revelation of Jesus Christ as God. God gave the Bible to speak to His Church. A Church that hates that voice is not of God. Mat 18:(the whole of it) is simply a discipline section of believers. Jesus is teaching us how to walk with Him. We are not against leaders but against a worldly state Rome pushes down our throats.

It seems to me that Christ was instructing His priests how to consecrate the bread and wine in His absence.
truthfulreply 1 week ago
@truthfulreply "Christ did not say, “EAT this bread in memory of me”. Nor does He say, “DRINK this wine in memory of me”."
But Christ did say "Do this in remembrance of Me" If bread & wine is Jesus Himself, then why would you remember Him? Afterall you believe He is present! Simple logic!
bulyabalive 1 week ago
wine. He’s not simply telling them to eat and drink, but telling them exactly how to bless, break and repeat the words of consecration. “DO” all these things. It also seems to me that this interpretation would be consistent with the fact that Christ gives His priests other specific instructions (such as the forgiving and retaining of sins) at the end of the Gospels as well - instructions that were NOT given to the multitudes, but only to his hand-picked priests.
truthfulreply 1 week ago

But our union with Christ can only be physical if He is actually giving us something physical, that is Himself

bulyabalive 1 week ago

9:28 "So Christ was ONCE offered to bear the sins of many.."
bulyabalive 1 week ago
@truthfulreply Heb. 10:12 "But this man, after He had offered ONCE SACRIFICE FOR SINS FOR EVER, sat down on the right hand of God;"
Jesus finished the work of man's redemption, ONCE & FOR ALL.

For millions of non-Catholic Christians, Jesus was using pure symbolism in John 6:53 when he declared to his followers, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” The reasons non-Catholics give can usually be boiled down to these: CONTINUED BELOW
truthfulreply 1 week ago
@truthfulreply Satan started the Catholic Answers organisation for a purpose. I wonder where the likes of Tim Staples will hide when they face the wrath of God & realising the broad way to hell they are leading their followers like you. They are fighting the Holy Spirit tooth & nail to keep Catholics in bondage of an institution heading for spiritual destruction. Why don't you just give us the conclusion of John 6? Couldn't Staples conclude the topic of meat & blood?
bulyabalive 1 week ago
: First, a literal interpretation would make Christians into cannibals. Second, Jesus claims to be a “door” in John 10:9 and a “vine” in John 15:5. Do Catholics believe they must pluck a leaf from Jesus the vine or oil the hinges on Jesus the door to get into heaven? So the non-Catholic claims Jesus is using metaphor in John 6, just as he does elsewhere in the Gospels.

Salem is the future Jeru-salem where Jesus, the eternal priest and king, established his new Kingdom and the Eucharistic sacrifice which He offered under the appearance of bread and wine.
truthfulreply 1 week ago
@truthfulreply And your point? Did Melchizedek turn the bread into flesh & wine into blood? Gen. 14:18 is interpreted Heb. 7, which is Jesus our Lord the High Priest for ever in order of Melchisedec. Ps. 76:2 is wrongly interpreted by you.
bulyabalive 1 week ago
@bulyabalive Psalm 110:4 - this is the prophecy that Jesus will be the eternal priest and king in the same manner as this mysterious priest Melchizedek. This prophecy requires us to look for an eternal bread and wine sacrifice in the future. This prophecy is fulfilled only by the Eucharistic sacrifice of the Catholic Church.

@bulyabalive John 6:53 - 58 - Jesus does not correct their literal interpretation.
Your opinion is just that!

@truthfulreply That is what Ignatius of Antioch says, but that is not what the Bible teaches. I have my pick.

@bulyabalive Were these Apostalic fathers not ear & eyewitnesses to Apostles?
Why do you love cherish your bible & attack the church that compiled it-thats a contradiction.

@bulyabalive "It is contradictory for a Protestant to accept the Bible and reject the authority of the Catholic Church which gave it to him."

@truthfulreply No wonder such comment comes from anonymous! Because Scripture was given by God to the Church. The Church inspired nothing.

St. Paul added, 1 Cor 11:29 "For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the Body eats and drinks judgment upon himself." -IF ITS ONLY A SYMBOL THENWHY IS IT STATE THIS WAY?
truthfulreply 1 week ago

However II do believe that my Catholic Church holds a fullness of truth Thru its Sacred Traditions, sacraments ,& liturgys-leaving no voids or questions.
truthfulreply 1 week ago
@truthfulreply So you hope is in your Church because you believe it holds the fullness of truth - "through its "sacred traditions, yet it cannot even assure you of a place in heaven? A Church that is so powerful to create another type of hell & promises you that if your loved ones "buys masses" you may possibly leave purgatory, but with no guarantee on how many masses that will release you from that "prison" cannot tell you that your name can not be written in a book of life?

@bulyabalive EXPLAIN THESE-
MATTHEW 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.
What is the foundation and pillar of truth? What is a pillar? A pillar is something which is upholding something while being firmly implanted on a solid foundation. Is the pillar of truth the Bible? If you think so, then why does the Bible say it is the Church? See 1Tim 3:15
truthfulreply 1 week ago

All Christians are the pillar & ground of truth.
bulyabalive 1 week ago
@truthfulreply Paul is using a building imagery. A pillar rests on immoveable ground, & together they support a structure. Thus the church upholds & supports the truth revealed by God. God's people are called to preserve the pure teaching of His Word, which is the truth. It is their duty to be light in this dark world. But that does not imply that the church fulfils this great duty perfectly & infallibly. Cont/..
