  • Hey please watch my cover of this song! :)

  • RIP, Etta.....you will forever be missed.....but never forgotten.....RIP

  • Singing and breathing seem no different to her.

  • What's the matter with you people just because Beyonce sang the song an octave higher dosen't mean she can't sing. It's two separate versions damnnn. Give the artist respect for her professional version. That's like comparing Nat King Coles version of Candy Man to Sammy Davis Jr version they both are professionals and have different ranges. some of you have no musical intellect at all back down.

  • NO ONE LIKE ETTA- PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ninguém nunca vai ser capaz de cantar esta canção como Miss James - é somente dela

  • Sorry Beyonce....you cant do it like Etta! Etta sung and PERFECTED such a classic. She is such a legendary songbird that Bey can only hope and pray for! She still sounds good....even at 70! Get it girl!

  • @terriberri61606 agree 100% Beyonce singing from the pocket, Etta singing from her soul.

  • awesome, thank you

  • One great LADY !

  • The sacral flair of this song is simply touching. A grand performance by an unmatched singer.

Thanks a bunch. And feel free to check out my jazz blog, if you like -- for link see my profile.

    Regards & All best,

    Brew "Grooveman" Lite

  • 100% agree with you! So passionate it makes me cry everytime I hear it.

  • Etta James is a great singer...but she can surely suck a nut for saying Obama -the one with the big ears, was not her president...That was wrong.

  • He's not MY president either...and NO, I'm NOT sucking a nut for stating what I believe and neither should she...it's got nothing to do with her singing dude.

  • do you live in America? well then he's your president lol

  • @Beatmesenseless07 This is a free country. Is what we dont have in CUBA, democracy and free of expression. Is wrong, but in the same time is right. Even if you say God is not good, and is wrong, but in the other end, God work in mystery way. We dont talk about Bush bad, why not Obama, or somebody else.

  • wayy better than beyonce

  • Etta, you are unmatched. This will be the first dance with my wife when I get married. Thank you, Etta

  • No-one will ever be able to sing this song like Miss James - it's only hers.

  • "from the SOUL".(you know what I mean) 8 )

  • Etta sings "from the sould." From hard times and experience, and it comes out in her vocals...just like Billie Holiday and Ella and the other "old school" ladies...not like these young, spoiled and pampered divas of today. They lack expression because they have not much to draw from.

  • I personaly think Etta is better than B.

    Because...

    She is so real..

    Beyonce is from this time..

Bee does it great but she never can bring the real old jazz alive like the old legends.

Whit all my respect cause she is a great artist but i feel so much more sphere and emotions when Etta sing her own songs..

  • beautiful,beautiful,beautiful!!

  • I like Beyonce a real lot but her version is not better.

  • yah go etta!

  • I love this song!

I've been singing it too. Please watch it on my channel, and give your comment. Thank you!

  • Etta, Ella, Diana, there all diva's.. but dude, if your going to record something bring a fucking tripod... Looks like your filming this from a fucking boat.

  • Right on ..The Artist and The Product ..I see Ms Beyounce is making a few name brand enemies. I hope she learns as she age ...Here today and a has been tomorrow...Why not sing one of her hit songs not one that was here before she was born....

  • Yall going back in forth about Etta and Beyonce when neither can care 10 cents about neither of you. Etta is the past singer but can't say she paved the way for Beyonce to be where she is. I get sick and tired of people talking like that.

  • They don't have to care. We do! Find a lie in either of these statements. Then watch your language because there is power in the word and there are more things out here that should make you sick than a conversation about respect and honor But that is the American way from the moment the Euro sat foot on this land to this day, dishonor, disrespect and murder from killing the body to killing the spirit But they keep the lie alive that Elvis is the King of Rock and Roll. Does that make you sick

  • why do we have to care?? Etta/ Beyonce didn't put food on my table. they don't pay my bills. They didn't help me through or anything. This is America. The land of the free just in case you haven't notice. My comments will still remain. You care for these women more than you care about the homeless person on the street!!

  • Why didn't the Prez have Etta perform at the inauguration for the older crowd and Beyonce for the younger ones. The older/mature like me have lived Etta and appreciate her. She's the original.B does a great job. It's like this..the first time you hear a particular song by an artist is the "original" to you, so when you hear another version you compare it to the first version you ever heard. I love Etta!! to me she is the diamond, Beyonce the paste........

  • Yes indeedy. She is irreplaceable, like Nina and Sarah and Betty and Eartha...cannot be duplicated. The respect as an elder also, was not paid. No culture, that's America's problem. It was totally disrespectful! It's like when we were children we had to ask the elders first! I love her and may she sing on and on and on!

  • True dat. I was raised on the proverb that says if we stand tall it is because we are standing on the shoulders of our ancestors. Beyonce should have given the elder propls, not to mention the prez. opalanga

  • Right on , my friend. Thinking is not illegal yet! Well since we are talking let us remember that there is a BIG lie floating around amongst the many lies and that is that dead Elvis is the King of Rock and Roll. For the record the REAL KINGs are still alive: Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino. Tell the Truth and shame the Devil unless he is the god you serve. Power to the truth. Hope this doesn't make anyone sick, but if it does then you'll know who you really are.

  • You are absolutely correct in many ways. I like Chuck for number one. Bill Haley should be on this list. That said, many 40s musicians preceded them and laid the groundwork. Erline Harris, Jackie Brenston, Ike Turner, Wild Bill Moore and others.

  • Etta is an artist. Beyonce is a product.

  • There is no comparison between Etta and Beyonce. Apples and oranges. Soul and pure pop. And Cheetah69, it's the other way around. Beyonce should be (and probably is) thankful that Etta came before her and provided the shoulders for her to stand on.

The conversations you are talking about are limited to what makes the most money, not what is the most artistic. Anyone making any music is in debt to those who came before them. Etta James is a legend for a reason and has certainly paid her dues.

  • The sound quality isn't great but Etta is. I thought Beyonce was paying her a tribute, singing her song. There is plenty of room (and fans) for both divas. :-)

  • It's a boring rendition of what was probably a great song----she took it to Diva status and lost the soul of the song.

  • AT LAAAAAAAAAAST!!!! naw jus playn this is pretty...... i dont think yall should compare beyonce and etta its kinda weird like nobody would compare the original and non original. i think yall should compare maybe two non original singers i mean it would make since cuz if there is no original to compare it to then its not possible. and whenever beyonce sings this she is just honoring etta james everytime.... i think its really good. Etta should not feel bad because she has been doing this.......

  • Beyonce isn't qualified to kiss Etta's ass

  • You are sooooo right!!

  • No, Etta sings it like no one could top it--she got lazy--and guess what, Beyonce stomped her ass.

  • What the hell Beyonce stompe who ass,Shut the fuck up you delusional sorry youngminded peice of shit.Your just saying that because your an obsessed sick mentally challenged Beyonce fan

  • Etta needs to be thankful that she's even being talked about in 2009. Before Beyonce played her in the movie, she hadn't been mentioned in current conversation save for the occasional Jazz concert or Blues festival. She HAD a great memorable voice. But clearly that was a thing of the past. And instead of being thankful that her named was being talked up again, she began mouthing off like a cantankerous old motormouth filled to the brim with moonshine. Beyonce needn't be concerned with her.

  • Bitch Etta is a well known legend who has won Grammys, only you young dumb children who look to T pain as being a real vocalist have never heard of her.Fuck a Beyonce, the bitch mediocre at most vocals are not all that intriguing. She isnt a bad singer, yet she isnt great

  • I'm not a kid, silly. And let me add, only children feel the need to resort to name calling on a youtube vid. Chill on that. I'm not gonna get into a debate about how great or not Beyonce's voice is. It's irrelevant here. The fact remains as I stated them. Had beyonce not done the movie, we wouldn't even be in this debate about that old woman. If you choose to respond, silly woman, come like an adult. Or don't and sulk like a kid.

  • Thanks for sharing a great artist!

  • You're welcome Norway!

  • There is no comparison- Etta James is the one!

  • Etta just lost me as a fan after slamming President Obama and Beyonce.

    Screw her!

She's jealous because Beyonce isn't a fat ass like she is.

  • Well give it some more years, she will be.....Sally7007............. Etta jealous......LOL....that was funny

  • 1961 Ben E. King sang AT LAST Album "Ben E.King Sings for Soulful lovers" on Atlantic Label

    Arranger- Conductor: Klaus Ogermann.

AT LAST- (By Harry Warren & Mack Gordon)

Many of these songs are not new.

Found this aablum in my old collection.

  • Nat king cole covered it, celine dion has covered it,

The first person to record it on record was Glenn Miller, then Etta James, before these two, it was written by H. Warren and M. Gordon for a musical film starring George Montgomery and Anne Rutherford.

But Etta james is known for this song......on a R&B and Jazz level

  • Etta James played right in the white man's hands. They want us to all be against one another and divide. This happened in "massa's kitchen:. Don't yall know that divided we fall and together--we win!

  • we? Please can we just keep this about how awesome Etta is and how three years ago in NJ she sounded that good? I'm a white man and I love blacks as much as my own race. You're being racist and i have no tolerance for it. And for the record Etta was half white(Swiss) and half black. We enjoy a super awesome person(Etta) from our races joining. Stop divisionism.

  • @sherr32 What's wrong with you?

  • Please. have some respect!.. Etta has been and is a legend.. Just not the right fit for today and the time and place. I am sure that our "divas" of today show the respect, admiration and love for ALL the ones that came before and paved the way. Give all props and respect for our talented women.. today and yesterday.. it is about support and love.. no more. no less.. get off YOURSELVES!!

  • damn her low notes are really good, she stays soo relaxed.

  • I think both James and Knowles are truly talented women. But the comparison of 'who's better' is simply childish.

Let's not forget that Etta James and other women like her paved the way for people like Beyoncé

. It's also worth remembering that they did it in a world not only divided by segregation but quite sexist too.

Many in the current generation of so-called 'divas' don't know the first thing about that.

Etta James is an amazing artist.

  • People people, please no putting down on here. It's about put Etta up. She is a great woman that didn't get what should should have for being such a force. What she put into her version was everything. And that's what will always set her apart.

  • haha its BEYONCE you idiot!

  • i see your as ignorant as they come with your comment asl2s

  • Is your vocabulary really so poor that you had to use such a horrible term? Typical of someone with a 5th grade education.

  • Oh, you mean give a song some life??? Watch your words homie!

  • got chills

  • kicks Beyonce's ass, because shes lived it!

  • Better than Beyonce... Etta is the original =)

  • why didn't she sing at the inauguration

  • She had surgery and wasn't feeling well.

  • damn she gives me the chills

  • damn she still have it

  • Does anyone have a better version of this song?

  • Go to Google Video and type in "Etta James - At Last". Look at the black and white video that lasts 3:02. It's the original. (I can plug Google because they own Youtube, wink wink)

  • Check out my version of this beautiful classic.

  • I want to hear the original etta james recorded record version.I've seen awful imitations and Etta's stage versions aren't as good as the one on a record.

  • I agree!! I was searching for her original piece on here!! She still has a soulful voice and I understand it's been decades since she's recorded "At Last"... But her orginal is THE BEST one thus far!!!! (nodding)

    MuAhZ,

    Leilani Q.

  • same here I want to hear the original studio version no one will sing that song they way she did!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yea, if you find it tell me lol...

  • I love this song sooo dearly, but can someone please upload a actual recording or a good quality of this song.

  • nace very very nace

  • she can do no wrong. what a voice. soul doesn'n get any better

  • This is an awesome song and Etta can sing!

  • OMG I posted that comment before I watched the video, Beyonce DEFFINATELY doesnt have the lower range, and she has a totally different sense of improv my goodness!! Enough respect to B but its going to turn out to be porridge!!

  • this is the joy of millions of dollars worth of recording equipment, show me a feed of Bee pulling those pitches LIVE then I will begin to (kinda . . .. .but not really!) try and picture here singing something heralded to us by Etta James

  • On thata "vocal range" video there are exclusively live performances! what video did you watch? Beyoncé's voice is a million times richer when she sings live, everybody knows it. EVERYTHING she did on the records she can replicate live.

  • not bashing you k. but in this case he is right. I've seen beyonce live and she really does sound better than a majority of other big time divas out there today. especially live. i know its a matter of opinion but she really can hit low notes and it annoys me because i wish she would hit more low notes on her albums. but i do agree with you that etta james is the best, no one can top her singing voice, especially when using her own songs.

  • I'm from africa and Etta James is still making HUGE waves there, I got enough love for beyonce but we need to recognise that she just doesnt fit here, I mean you look at dream girls and you kinda feel a little embarassment after jenny hudson blew a hole in the back of her head, seriously though Etta James she is not, she has always done well with bootylicious not soul, Queen Latifah, angie stone, jill scott any day!!

  • I've seen Etta James and I've seen Beyonce, and Beyonce has some "pipes", but to "do" Miss Etta. I think not. Beyonce will sing the songs in her own way and I don't think will be able to reach down for the one and only Etta James sound. By the way, did you know that the great pool "shark" Minnasota Fats is supposed to be Miss James father. She got "clues" to it after she was grown.

  • red bank park new jersey? I live there and I don't remember this.

  • find and listen to 'I'll Take Care You' by Etta

  • Now I'm not hatin', will someone pleeeze explain how Beyonce is slated to do Etta James in her upcoming new project and not Queen Latifah, or even Jill Scott. Come on even Etta herself. I can't hear Beyonce here. I'm not hatin' because I reallly like Beyonce, but not for everything.

  • i wish i couldve been there

  • I love this song my love has come along and his name is Reynard Sanders

  • my wedding song 17.02.07 love it great voice

  • ...where is this coming from?

  • who cares

  • ~*~I freakin' love this woman's voice. A true icon!~*~

  • classic

  • excellent!

  • Una de las mejores voces con sentimiento y calidad que nunca hayan existido..

  • a voice with sentiment and no hotter woman has ever existed ? si?

  • I'm not a native Spanish speaker..I only have 3 years worth of classes, but I think calidad means quality, not hotness.

  • gracias

  • Correct, caliente is hot and calidad is quality.

  • nace very very nace

  • Amazing.

  • I was at this show! Amazing...I can't believe I was trying to sneak in a quick bathroom break right before this song began. Thank goodness I waited!

  • Beautiful!

  • I love her voice now maybe even more than when she was younger...what she does with it stirs me to the core...it's so rich, so deep and so BLUES.

  • Yes, it is the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank NJ. Recorded in June of 2006. She Looked Awesome!!!! And Sounded Like a Goddess. My friend Val and I took my Dad for his Birthday and Val got us right up front. It was a good day. Thank you Val!

  • Oh my god! After all these years, her voice is untouched!

  • I'm not sure when this concert was held, but I do know Count Basie died in the early to mid eighties. This must be at least 20+ years old. Its still so wonderful to watch and listen.

  • It says 6-06

  • Maybe that is when it was posted on Youtube. If this is truly the last live concert of Count Basie it had to have been taped in 1984 or earlier because he died about that time.

  • Added: May 11, 2007

  • it is the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank NJ

  • Been listening for weeks..and still making me cry...

  • she is so underated. OMG I love her voice

  • QUEEN ETTA!!

  • Sheer ROMANCE!Agreed...this girl was put on the earth to sing!

  • If you dont get chills you dont know music!!!! I love this song!!!!

  • wow iv sang this song all my life and i had no idea who it was by know i know thank god
