It's not really a story. It's something that's written in one of the essays inside the Joe Cocker box set. It's about the style and feel of the singing that's being talked about. In all these years, no one has really been able emulate (not imitate) the way Ray Charles sings. Ray's vocals are very loose, raspy, and soulful. He kind of takes any song (country, rock, pop) and can turn it into this bluesy, raw song. Who else has genuinely been able to do that?
