  • Hard to believe my dear Fuego started out as such an adorable ugly beautiful sweet monster like that (: (you know what I mean, he's a Red Lored Hybrid with a serious attitude) My macaw Babe started out even more charmingly hideous. GOD THEY ARE PRECIOUS! lol- they make me smile every time I look.

They remind me of that dumb bird on the old looney tunes with the big ol' bald head. da, daaa yup! haw, haw haawww

  • I will have to agree they do look well taken care of and I am sure they are happy birds now :) I am not saying you are starving them, but to people who watch this, need to know that that kind of behavior is indicating a hungry baby :)

  • I know they are not starving but whenever I have handfed, only hungry babies will do this to eachother. And I have handraise many amazons and greys (and smaller birds, and some macaws and 'toos) over the years. Sometimes after I eat, as my stomach empties, but not all the way empty, I get hungry again. I have a very fast metabolism. Baby birds, birds in general, have a fast metabolism in general, and just because they have food in their crop, doesnt mean they arent hungry.

  • @Bokkapooh My point was that I did not let these birds starve so that I could make the video!! I think you can see that these babies are well fed and happy. They are plump and healthy and making a 30 second video before I feed them did not make them suffer in any way.

  • They should have been fed, not video taped..

  • @Bokkapooh their behavior is normal sibling behavior whether they are hungry or not. You can see food in their crop...although I am sure I was going to feed them as soon as I made the video, they were not starving.

  • @Bokkapooh gotta agree with rita, 31 seconds is rather harmless, they sure do not look like they have been waiting too long for food in the past. imagine how long many wait for a meal while trying to shake off 50 degree nights in the cold rain if they were waiting for mom in a stump some place. I wish I knew what the other side of my hybrid red lored was. His past left me with layers and layers of issues to help him through. He has been a real challenge.

  • I have to say your bird are cute! I have a 7 year old Red Lored of my own and he is one of the most adventurous little guys ever. I have a question, if I wanted to find a female Red Lored would you recommend they lay eggs soon?

  • I am in tears, it is hard to believe how fast time has gone by, to think Salsa is a year 4/26...Sure wished I was on my way to your house, but the cars are up in the air, Terry is working on them~

  • You are right, it is hard to believe that Salsa is one year old!! He is a special boy and I can tell he is very happy with you!! I am so sad that it looks like we wont have baby "salsa's" this year!! (Boo Hoo!!) I hope Terry was able to fix the cars!!!

  • Hi they are so cute I never say Red Lored Amazon babies before. Well I am hoping you can help me with something.I am a lovebird breeder so I don'tmuch about Red Lored Amazon and I just got myself a Red Lored Amazon as a pet bird and the old owners were not able to tell me the age is there a way of knowing how old it can be. if it is young or old I don't expect to know the exact age. Thank-you in advance for answering my question.:)

  • I am afraid it is impossible to tell the age of a parrot. A vet can examine your bird and give you a guess at the birds age, but it would be impossible to know for sure. You should try to track the previous owners of the bird and perhaps you can make an educated guess at it's age. The best I can tell you is, if the birds eye's are a golden yellow, then the baby is at least one year old. Juvenile babies will have black eyes which turn golden around 1 year of age.

  • Im hoping to have some like yours soon, I have several and Im waiting to see what happens.

  • Are they kissing? That's so cute.

  • They are not kissing, they are trying to feed each other. In the nest their parents would feed them like they are trying to feed each other in this video. I am handfeeding them so that they are people friendly. What they are doing now is kind of like sucking on a pacifier...it is comforting for them.

  • Oh. Ok.
