Well, let me rephrase that. They do NOT consider them a religion, they consider them a cult. They do not have tax exempt status. Germany is working to ban them.

I am catholic. I know a lot of people out there are atheists and dislike us, and say we are all the same. In some way all religion is the same. But as least we don't require people to give thousands of dollars just to be members. Yes it is nice to give a dollar or two on Sunday. Or maybe on christmas or easter 20 dollars. but thats it. AND ITS OPTIONAL. so we are NOT the same as them... they are a evil cult that requires money just to become a member.
tithing is purely optional and based on a SMALL percentage of what you actually bring home. if you make 10 cents you donate 1 penny if you want. most christians don't tithe the way they should.
its about teaching sacrifice and putting others before yourself. there is no lesson to be learned when someone wants you to mortgage your house again for OTII.

To learn of the catholic religion you didn't have to pay money to learn the teaching of your church - you neither have to reach levels to gain further access about the religion. You can buy the bible at any bookstore - and in most hotel rooms it's for free ;)
This is really scary. I'm truly convinced that this could happen to anyone if they are not aware of what scientology is. Her comment about 'they want to take over the world'. I do believe that is their goal because I'm reminded of Tom Cruises' comment in that famous video when he said 'have you ever met an sp? ...one day they will be what you read about in the history books.' That is world domination talk.
Well, I think that videos like these and anonymous are the baby steps to waking up the sleeping (and blind) collective of people LIKE the government (making them tax free...for crying out loud). I just wonder what more can I do to help. I feel for Suri AND Katie. I also think that Tom isn't necessarily 'gone' either. Anyone can 'wake up' if there circumstances provide them with the right information. I hope for that family.
