Is it a coincidence that Lafayette wins every year, and I understand like 3 years in a row, but haven't they won the past 10 years? That's highly unlikely for a band.
@Craziness31 I believe one of the reasons they win so often is the sheer size of the band. When you have more people to choose from odds are you're going to end up with more really good players. I'm sure that most of their success goes to the band director, though. All the talent in the world is pretty worthless without someone to guide it. They've simply got an awesome band program, that's all.
@ExtremelyTiredDad I understand that they have a very excellent program, but schools hardly ever win 10 years in a row, because their show is not the best show every year.
@Craziness31 I understand your point & part of me agrees with it, but even as a parent of a band member of a competing school I'm choosing to stick with my explanation. Winning 10 years in a row is a very unlikely scenario, but not impossible & the judges' idea of what is best likely differs from what you or I consider best. I'm not saying it's always right, just that it's the way things happen. I say we do the civil thing & simply agree to disagree. We can also hope someone else wins soon!

@skateboardingking I don't know what you're asking. If that was the title of a show I can't tell you since we didn't purchase a DVD of the whole Showcase event. We were only there from the time the CHS/SJA band performed until they announced the top 10. Sorry.

Congrats Catholic. Y'all came out of no where and pulled the rug from under FHS's feet. But I'm still glad we got 3rd. We received the same placing my freshman and senior years. Oh and congrats Central Lafourche!!!
on here I did. it's really cool. very inventive. personally i think its better than lafayette's. y'all should have gotten first. but the way a lot of people see it, is that lafayette doesn't even count... so knock them off and then you have the real placings. :)
i really wish people would stop saying things like this about LHS. its not fair to the kids who work so hard throughout the season. they are where they are because they deserve it and work extremely hard for it. they would gladly congratulate any other band if they had one first place so everyone else should do the same.
When they said Central my heart stopped. That's all my little crazies in that band. I'm glad they got to end their senior year of band like that. It just would've been nice to see someone other than Lafayette win it for once.
OMG I thought I was gunna pass out on the field when they announced that we got 4th place. What a great way to end my senior marching season. First year we ever get top 10 since I've been there. Wow.
Congratulations on not only making the Top 10, but making FOURTH! You should be proud of yourself, your band mates, your band director and all the support staff. You guys worked hard and it paid off. Excellent performance. I only wish I had brought enough DVDs for my little camcorder to record all the shows we watched. We were there from 4pm to the end, but I only had 1 disk which lets me record 30 minutes.
