Joey Molland needs to keep the Badfinger legacy alive! He rocks!

I am not sure if the royalties are still split five ways or not. The original deal was that all four members and the manager got a cut. It even went so far that whe "Without You" won an award, the show credited all five of them for writing the song, instead of Tommy and Evans and Pete Ham, who were the composers. What a sad story!!!
And it is nice to hear that Joey credits the other members of the band. That makes me think a lot of him!

Wow, I hadn't really thought about how Joey's the only main Badfinger guy left! This is a good sounding clip! Great song, good to hear it performed properly.

Glad to see Joey Molland still performing. It is a very sad legacy knowing the full story of Badfinger. There music will still live on and thanks to youtube we can see videos of the full band before all the tragedy.
Long live their music!
Hope the families of Pete Ham, Tom Evans and Mike Gibbins are rewarded in some way for their beautiful music. So tragic!

Joey Molland is not Badfinger.
Badfinger was 4/5 guys that played together a long time ago. Joey needs to use his own name instead of conning people into thinking he is Badfinger.

He actually does bill himself as Joey Molland from Badfinger. If he didn't advertise the Badfinger connection, then no one would come out to see him. Also keep in mind, he is the only surviving member of the original 4 piece band.

Sadly no. Mike Gibbins, the original Badfinger drummer, passed away on October 4, 2005.

That's too bad. Did not know that. I knew he was alive quite recently, because I had seen the "Behind The Music" on theese guys and he was involved. Am I not correct ,in reccollecting that show, saing Joey Mulland was not one of the original members? I am quite sure that he was never an IVEY. Right? Also. If I may ask. Do you know how he died?

You are correct in the fact that Joey Molland was never in the Iveys. He replaced Ron Griffiths just after the first Badfinger LP had been released. (So, I guess technically, Joey never was an original member, albeit he was a major player during their peak years.) Mike Gibbins passed away of natural causes...he was 56 years old.

Thank you for your interesting correspondence. Sorry about the spelling. I really should look before I "click" sometimes. Can you tell me what the story is on the publishing rights for Pete Hamms music? Does his wife and child get the royalties? GOD I hope so. Those great songs.

I'm the bassist in this video. In the 4 times I've backed up Joey, we/he have NEVER been called 'Badfinger'. Joey ALWAYS credits the three original members on stage when appropriate... especially the 'hits' primarily written by Pete. The title of this youtube video may not be 100% correct, but it's hard to fit a title as laborious as "Joey Molland of Badfinger - Come Down Hard" when you have a character limit. Just relax & enjoy the power pop music that I am very proud to help keep alive.

Thank you, hofner65! I've always thought that Joey was the made the butt of too much criticizm-- Instead of people tearing Joey down, they should be thanking him for keeping Badfinger's legacy alive! He sounds great and represents the band very well on his own, giving credit where credit is due..Rock on, Joey!!♥
