I feel the mix wasn't quite as tight as some of Jack's other stuff. Maybe it was doing such a big band in such a small space. Maybe it's the transition from rock to jazz. But the piano and vibraphone balance seems a little off and the drums sometimes sound a little hollow.
@Teis9574 The SFJAZZ Collective has been around for nine years. Joshua Redman and Brian Blade were both founding members of the group, but are no longer active in it.
Thanks for sharing Jack! I felt like I should have been sitting in a smoke filled room, sipping on my favorite beverage. :-D Love old school jam sessions!
This session was one of the best days of my life!! So happy this video is finally up. One of my favorite tricks was rigging up Avishai's trumpet through my Big Muff distortion pedal (Jack White's choice distortion on a lot of those White Stripes records) then through my Vox Wah, and out my '72 Fender Twin reverb. Hope you guys dig it!
Great video. Great musicians, great arrangement. Exceptional music. And Jack Conte as a producer, what else now?

@rmoraespinto Stay Tuned, we are releasing Stevie Wonder's "Visions" later today! Same great musicians - video produced by Jack Conte!

UHhhhmmmm Avishai plays trumpet as well? Or are there 2 Avishai Cohen's?
Great soloing!
vinnievibes 3 months ago
@vinnievibes Believe it or not there are actually two Avishai Cohen's in the jazz world, the trumpeter and the upright bassist!

When the trumpet went into my right ear (from the nice stereo mix), I did not like that.

There's an e-guitar echoing the chorus line at 3:00 mixed to the far right channel not visible in the video.

@nuddlegg Jack noted that he amplified the trumpet. And the fender amp is also seen in the video, so it's still a correct videosong.

Loved the audio on the drums. Stevie is one of my all time greats. Right behind Mr. Conte. Ha! Love it you guys!!
