  • What is on his snare drum?

  • So killing!!!!!!!!!! (Don't usually use 11 exclamation marks, ;), but this deserves it!)

  • UHhhhmmmm Avishai plays trumpet as well? Or are there 2 Avishai Cohen's?

    Great soloing!

  • @vinnievibes Believe it or not there are actually two Avishai Cohen's in the jazz world, the trumpeter and the upright bassist!

  • I wish I could be as cool as this. Great playing and vibe.

  • Wonderful :-D

  • This is stunningly classy.

  • When the trumpet went into my right ear (from the nice stereo mix), I did not like that.

  • I keep watching this over and over. One word: AWESOME!!!

  • trombone is beast and so is the hmm EVERYTHINGGGG!!!! I shall join u one day mark my words >:O

  • I need a vinyl...

  • I love peformances!

  • Funky goodness.

  • I feel the mix wasn't quite as tight as some of Jack's other stuff. Maybe it was doing such a big band in such a small space. Maybe it's the transition from rock to jazz. But the piano and vibraphone balance seems a little off and the drums sometimes sound a little hollow.

Still, great band and a great performance!

  • It says in the Bio that it's led by Joshua Redman and feautures amongst others Brian Blade... Why aren't they in this video, anyone??

  • @Teis9574 The SFJAZZ Collective has been around for nine years. Joshua Redman and Brian Blade were both founding members of the group, but are no longer active in it.

  • @OaklandBop Thanks alot!

  • OH MY GOSH!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bitchin' horns!!!

  • Ha! I LOVE how crowded it is in that room! This is how it is at any jazz rehearsal :)

  • I love how Jack mixed and recorded everything.

  • AWESOME! As usual.

  • @Darthdupree28 - There is another Jack Conte & SFJAZZ Collective collaboration set to come out in the next month or so, sit tight!

  • @Magnificent7channel - No plans yet, but who knows what the future may hold! Thank you for your enthusiasm around the video

  • Amazing video, thx 4 posting. BTW is there gonna be a DVD published? That would be killin'!!!

  • Please tell me you have more coming!! I always listen to their rendition of Superstition you posted!! Great editing as always!!

  • Mark Turner is travelling

  • Fantastico!!!

  • Awesome performance, but did anyone else notice that the drummer is wearing 3-D glasses?

  • thank you dog:god bc ameriCAN made jazz no body else. that's OUR she-IT

  • There's an e-guitar echoing the chorus line at 3:00 mixed to the far right channel not visible in the video.

  • Loved the audio on the drums. Stevie is one of my all time greats. Right behind Mr. Conte. Ha! Love it you guys!!

  • I like it. Classy.

  • Thanks for sharing Jack! I felt like I should have been sitting in a smoke filled room, sipping on my favorite beverage. :-D Love old school jam sessions!

  • Great arrangement!

  • great gig!!!

  • This just made my night!

  • Gads. Holy shit.

  • hellz yeah

  • Woah... good stuff!

  • This session was one of the best days of my life!! So happy this video is finally up. One of my favorite tricks was rigging up Avishai's trumpet through my Big Muff distortion pedal (Jack White's choice distortion on a lot of those White Stripes records) then through my Vox Wah, and out my '72 Fender Twin reverb. Hope you guys dig it!

  • @jackcontemusic hey jack, great to see you working with such amazing musicians and its amazing as always!

btw you should give a listen to ''Third World Love Sketches of Tel Aviv'' (one of Avishai's bands), it has a similar vibe. Best regards :)

  • UUHHHH!!!! Yes!

  • thank you jack :]
