  • yea scrubbing out is meant to be done every five rounds unless you're on a fire for effect mission, like we were in the video, otherwise you clean it straight after the fire mission. and jeffrey19621 i love the 81mm, class bit of kit, we train on the 81, 81 mechanised, 60mm, and 60mm handheld.

  • This was my weapon when I served as an 0341 mortarman in the USMC. Good fire for effect . I was trained on the 81 as well in1981

  • Do you know the kill radius of each round?

  • @MickyChicky33 THERE IS DIFFERENT TYPES OF ROUNDS! FOR H. E. (HIGH EXPLOSIVE) ROUND, M49A2, THREE ROUNDS ARE FIRED FOR EFFECT ON A POINT TARGET, AREA COVERED BY CASUALTY-PRODUCING FRAGMENTS IS APPROX. 50 BY 50 METERS! MORTARS IS A "AREA "TYPE WEAPON! HOPE THIS SHORT ANS. IS HELPING YOU! I"M AN "OLD" PLATOON SGT. OF MORTARS! : > )

  • it's a 60mm high explosive round

  • What is it that you put in the barrel?

  • @xandr96 AFTER FIRE FOR EFFECT (END OF MISSON)< YOU CLEAN OUT BARREL WITH CLEANER & CLEANING STAFF ROD!

  • @Mrmikemike46 I mean the liquid.

  • @xandr96 OIL or CLEANER/ OIL IS USED , ( AT TIMES) AFTER THE TUBES ARE CLEANED OUT!

  • @Mrmikemike46 Okay Thank you very much!

  • Cool

  • That's only the 60mm, the 81 is even more of a rush. We were firing it in south Wales, which is where the majority of our regiment live.

  • Nice, i've always wanted to shoot a mortar, cool video! Where did you shoot that mortar?

  • please comment :)
