I hate Damon's character. He can be hot and come up with snarky, amusing little comments all he wants, but he's still a bastard. Treats girls like toys, ends lives like it's nothing, and backstabs. Not attractive qualities. What I don't get are the fangirls seriously rooting for this jackass. Are they really attracted to those qualities?? Bad Boy Syndrome is dangerous ladies. You'll never be the "the exception", the only one in the whole world he'd curb his asshole-ery for: An ass is an ass.

I can't answer for everyone here, but I think it's the fact that his character is versatile. I do understand what you're saying about him being an a** 99% of the time, and that is true. At the same time, there are scenes where you can see that he cares about Stefan, cares about Elena (in a way). And justifications of his motives, as Ian put it, those make him less clear-cut.

Plus, the voice and the looks.

Well im a fan girl Just cause if you look back in damons past is bastard like issue's were not there before KAatherine was a bitch to him and made him that way and when he finnaly fell in love with katherine his brother got her taken away never to see him again and on top of that he finds out katherine was just using him and that she was never in the tomb and that she didn't love him. Also he saves elena a few episodes later and saves Caroline from that guy that kidnaps her.

This scene was so cutesy. That little gasp when she realizes who it is and her annoyance when she sits up is just so obvious. I love their word play and her snarky 'have you met you' line - hah hah. damn, she would have been such a great addition to keep, damn writers! Stefan needs that fixture, a real friend and in fact - think Damon was actually a little jealous of the relationship they had since he seems to want his brother for himself.. (and not in a slashy way)
