thank you very much for your reply. just giving my own views (and i respect yours) but i have been involved with ferrets since i was 14 years old im now 49.dogs no killing young, but ferrets and some cats yes if you handle the kits or kittens when young. but thank you very much for your reply
@kevin48800 That's like saying if a dog licks a 6-month-old, its mother will kill it because the smell of the dog is on it. Either way, this is just a false rumor about animals. Even though offspring and parents have been seperated for life, animals have a more sensitive smell than humans and can store 500+ smells in their smell database. Also, every animal has its own unique horomones, and thus smells differntly, like a snowflake. The difference isn't invisible to absolutely everything.
Jill--breedable/nursing female, kit--baby, ???---mature male? lol. Wanna be sure I have the terms right. Are they called bucks, or toms, or sires or what?
@Wolfgirl2help You're not far off with the "sire" part. A sire is the father of any chosen animal (horse, dog, e.t.c.,), and is also the first of the parents to be mentioned in the pedigree. The dam is the mother of the offspring.
had a jill before anything up to 3 weeks get close to them kits she would kill the lot........tame as she was she wouldnt have it so to first timers i suggest you dont intefere with the young until there out and about on there own
thats one big ass 9 day old

@Wolfgirl2help An unspayed female is a jill, an unneutered male is a hob, and kits are the babies. :)

@Wolfgirl2help intact males are called Hobs, and neutered males are Gibs

I hear some people call baby ferrets kits and some call them pups. What is it, pups or kits? Or are they just the same thing?
TearsOfWar1 5 months ago
@TearsOfWar1 Depends on where you live I think, but ultimately they're the same thing. In the US they're called kits.

You can see these kits are 9 days old and not 9 weeks.

I think you meant 9 weeks old and not 9 days old. Aren't they a bit big for just 9 days.
