Such a wonderful song, rendered so soulfully,The accompaniments were too good.Just loved the song on the whole. Thanks for the concert actually, there are other songs too, rama chandra kripalu and nada bindu kaladi.Thank you so much for posting.
An great redention of Gurbani in its tradional raag format. Unfortunately this authentic vidya (knowledge) is not very popular is todays in indian societies and cultures.
@samaganam Well yes, they do...but the people who sing them know nothing about raag, kirtan has become an occupation of a caste called "bhatra's" who know nothing about raag, they just sing to make money. Traditionally Shia Muslim rababi's and the pandits of east india where the kirtani's at the gurdwara's, and were very well respected for their knowledge of music (raag vidya).
there are many many ways of singing gurbani and in many accents, the guru's name legacy is too great and his popularity is too wide spread to be restricted by narrow consideration like someone claiming it is imperfect enunciation ... just shows his/her inability to understand gurbani. anyway it is written by more than 80 saints form all over the country... and who are we to decide how it MUST be read...
The anxiety of my mind departed, when I gazed upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||1||You know my condition, without my speaking. You inspire me to chant Your Name.My pains are gone, and I am absorbed in peace, poise and bliss, singing Your Glorious Praises. ||1||Taking me by the arm, You lifted me up, out of the deep dark pit of household and Maya.Says Nanak, the Guru has broken my bonds, and ended my separation; He has united me with God. ||2||51||74||
I can write the lyric I know.. Thakur, tum sharanai ayo Utara gaya mera manka sansha Jab tera darshan payo Aan balato meri birtha jnani Apna nam japayo Dukha nate sukh, sahaj samayo Ananda ananda gun gayo Bnah pakad kar, leene apne Gira andha-kupat mayo( amma sings maya?) Kaho nanak guru, bandhan kate Bichharat aan milayo
you don't need to cover any thing when you praise almighty......we were born naked...... we as society created these rules covering head to worship.....you don't need to do that .... it is sung so beautifully we should appreciate that...........................it made me cry just listening.......
so then i dare you to walk in a gurdwara with ure head naked? and if we were born naked then y dont u walk around society naked? SIkhs have a rehat - or rules and code of conduct that must be followed. ALL must follow it when doing something Sikhi related. These rules were created for a reason.
give me the reason these things were created......you oviusly dont know anything about classical music.... i know lots off you bhai's from gurudwara do more kurehat then anyone else...... for you info i dont need to go to any gurudwara, temple, masq or sinagag to attain peace......
@singhassar i agree that we were born nude , but covering head is not something spiritual but a way to keep our hair clean and free of dirt and its also to keep our places clean and making others equally comfortable ..a place were all rich or POOR or one who could not afford shampoos and stuff can sit together .its a way to look clean and tidy ,,,if u call it a rule of worship"worship is not the right word actually" then its not without a reason ,,,know the facts before denying them ,, thanks

The main line was sung wrong the entire time....
It's "Thakur Tum Sharanahi AAYEEA"
In fact all the remaining lines are sung wrongly. This is completely inappropriate, if Gurbani is to be sung, it should at least be sung correctly.

This Shabad is by Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Saarang on Pannaa 1218 of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib - Sikh Scripture
saarag mehalaa 5
Saarang, Fifth Mehla:

O my Lord and Master, I have come to Your Sanctuary.
outhar gaeiou maerae man kaa sa(n)saa jab thae dharasan paaeiaa

Sidenote: Sikhs require that we always keep our heads covered especially when singing GuruBani - Bani by Guru!
