glad to find a decent video on here :) thanks so much....i'm from laredo, and am hopeing to go here this comeing fall. Been all over the south of the US, and texas, but never gone west. So this'll be an interesting experience, lol.
I'm pretty stoked and scared all at the same time.
@chihanachan Hey, thanks. I love it there and still go out couple times a year to Alpine and down to Terlingua. Do you know about Terlingua? are you going to go to school there? I tried to go to your myspace link on youtube but did not work...might want to check it out and see??? best,
lol, oh yeah, I forgot I havn't updated that link. And now, actually, I don't really know all that much about West Texas, I've lived in the South all my life, lol. Whether it be South Texas, or just South in general, lol. That's why I'm pretty excited to see somewhere new :) Yeah, I got accept and am hopeing to go to Sul Ross this fall, so excited!!
What's it like over there?? I'm really curious, lol.
Welllllllllllll, great feel of the wide open spaces, and beautiful places to hike and see nature. Not 3 minutes drive any direction you are out in the country, and great fun down in Terlingua and the Big Bend National Park. Beautiful campus too. are you going to live in a dorm or apartment? what you going to study?
yeah, i'm hopeing to get a dorm :) I'm studying psychology and farrier technology, and a friend of mine that's comeing with is studeing veternarian technology.
Thanks for putting some pics of ol' Sully and Alpine on youtube! I have an M.Ed. degree from Sul Ross-graduated August 1987. Went in the summers while teaching school in Iraan. No better place to spend the summers in Texas. Cool nights, low humidity, breath-taking sunsets, and the smell of the air after a summer rain is pure perfume straight from heaven above!!
If the mountains are called Twin Sisters then shouldn't Twin Peaks liquor store change it's name? We all know it's called Twin Sisters, but how many folks in Alpine call it that?
I received my MA in English from Sul Ross back in 2000, and I loved it! The weather, the geographical background, and the admin at Sul Ross all make me wish I could go back!
I still stop back for visits to the area...I think the drive and the geology from the Big Bend to Terlingua and up to Alpine is magic. If the world keeps going off the edge I may move back there to hide.
when you go there? I went from 1965 till 1969...love that part of world and still stop off there time and again...I started the Fraternity TKE there. Was it still there when you went?
I attented from 86-88 and then from 90-92. During my time at SRSU there were no greek fraternities only academic ones. I heard that they had been banned during the late 70's early 80's I really am not sure though. Wish they had still had farternities though. The closest we had were groups such as Block and Bridle-also known as Clip and Brand or other academic cubs that were primarily interested in having fun. Alpine and especially Marfa have really changed just since I was there
The cottages and married student housing across the street are, unfortunately, gone. Replaced by dorms.

I'll always love Alpine. Too bad I couldn't find a way to make a living out there - I would have stayed forever.

Great video!! But the mountain is named Twin Sisters, not Twin Peaks. It's a common mistake, tho, so don't feel bad.
