Wow what a great video. The part at the beginning with the road was my favorite. My heart sort of breaks for deaf people when I hear this song because I wish no one was missing out on Anthem. It is just too wonderful.

Cohen would be embarrassed to see this sappy, tree hugger dreck associated with his great song. OOOO -- look, a tree got chopped down, and a girl tripped in hole! People are such animals! Cohen is a Buddhist with a hard head, and a clear eye. He is not seduced by childishness, nor is he enough of a simpleton to think that the world would be a better place if it were run by the silly dreamer who made this video.

well, i just wanted to add my 2 cents worth ---- hey caitydavid, i liked it, and will thank you for your effort. This deserves a better video, but thanks for posting. Leonard Cohen thinks that this is one of his three best songs and it is a true classic. It is certainly a song that brings you as close to his heart as any can.

@CaityDavid To me, I prefer a video that you shot yourself then see random pictures found on Google like others do. You don't take off anything of the song and you make it easy to watch. When I listen to music, I don't always want to think about anything else. It's that version of Anthem that I put on my playlist. damn it!! now i must admit my ignorance....The problem is i just don't get it. I mean it's technically put together just fine, but what's the point? The sceneries nice and all but there's this guy walking moping around and some girl, she trips, she gets back up and keeps running but why? Why are these characters doing what they're doing to the tune of a cohen song? What were you hoping to express?

Part of what it is, is a practical application of the song. We applied the line "there is a crack in everything, that is how the light gets in" to a large part of our interpretation of the song. Dylan and I think alike, which is probably why this came out how it did. The meeting barriers, and overcoming them, in small ways are cracks and light in each persons character.

The scenes, how they're put together, the juxtaposition is meant to create an image of flaws and solutions - not always good solutions (the stream and the ditch with the pipe).

That's all I'm willing to give away. There is a lot more, but once you begin to watch it with that understanding, I think the pieces will begin to fall into place.
