  • @WeAreChuckNorris You don't. In fact, we can't actually truly see 3d with two eyes, either. We are seeing two 2d images which our brain overlays, and gives us the ILLUSION of depth. Only 4 dimensional entities can actually see 3d. If we could see in 3d, we could see every face of every object in our universe (including the organs inside our bodies), which would be sitting on the w axis. Next time, do your research before absentmindedly making an incorrect comment.

  • here's a good question for idiots who think they are experts in Stereoscopic 3D vision: If our brain interprets 3D depth by working with 2 eyes, why can I see in 3D in real life with only one eye?

  • @WeAreChuckNorris you don't see real 3D with one eye.

Being able to see in 3D is haveing depth perception ( being able tell somthing is either far behind an object rather then it actually being just right behind it) here. Try catching a baseball thrown at you with one eye closed. It will be really hard because your brain can't tell how far away it actually is

  • lol, so the people blinded of one eye see the world in 2d!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kittization yes. I think it would be harder for those people to drive because they can't actually tell how far away a car is

  • SO, WHY I CAN SEE IN 3D WHEN I CLOSE ONE EYE?

  • @kittization you don't see real 3D with one eye.

  • Too bad James Cameron doesn't know that much about 3D. If you watch the 3D Blu-ray, you will notice that the background is always focused very close to the screen. This results in perfect 3D characters playing in front of a flat, ridiculously small world behind them. I loved the part where the bad guy looks up and says "that's one big damn tree" and then they show you a three dimensional tree that has a literal size of about 4 feet tall.

The foreground is proper, the background is fucked.

  • Overrated

  • Spy kids 3

  • you're retarded. James cameron didn't create this type of 3D, it's been around since the 90's.

  • Too bad the movie was a massive let down. Technology is amazing though. Absolutely amazing. Although I still don't see the amazingness of 3D. Sucks every movie is 3D now. Greedy bastards.

  • @Chigokai1080 Interesting you feel Avatar was a let down.

  • @pugcharlie Easily one the worst movies in recent memories. Let down is actually an understatement.

  • @Chigokai1080 hmm... strong opinion of which you are certainly entitled!

  • I'm confused O.o I don't understand why this guy made such a big deal about this 3D camera? Believe it or not, the use of polarized glasses for 3D movies was the first way 3D images were even created and that was decades ago. only reason why some filmmakers use red and blue glasses is because its cheeper and easier because red and blue glasses just require a stereoscopic camera, not one with lenses that move left and right.

  • @LearnToFly1000 Actually, the method of recording is the same for polarized and anaglyph. Even Anaglyph would benefit from moving cameras, it corrects errors in convergence. It's just a better way to record. Once you have your film from two camera points, then you can decide to turn it into polarized, shutter, or anaglyph, or anything you want.

  • @AdeonWriter lmao wow thats actually kinda sick XDDD whats shutter 3d?

  • they are going to use it for Granturismo 5.

  • this techn ology was invented way before james cameron, , LOL chicken little was in like 2005 and you had to wear polarized glasses, lol

  • @TheCalebCollage When Chicken Little is finally released on 3D Blu-Ray, you can use your tv's LCD shutter glasses.

  • james cameron was a college dropout!!! But he has such a technical sense many engineers don't have.... He showed superb technique in Aliens too.... his experiments with reverse photography is stunning (try to watch making of Aliens).... In Avatar, using such a camera is a futuristic approach... Hats off to this man.....

  • yeah it's a shame cameron's game changer was written by a retarded 14 year old.

  • don't call it "james camerons" camera. this stereo-cams exsited before. the processing did not. BUT who developed the processing? cameron? cameron is a director, not a programmer.

  • He is a producer, writer and director. And he knows the tech. He has been pushing it with alot of of his movies. Sure he did not write the code but he was a great part in it.

  • Very Very enteresting 3D tecnology let's go insyde the new era. thenk s

PS sorry for my english...Roberto from Italy

  • watch?v=A9QDtTCG_YM

james cameron next movie..independence day 2

  • those arent the james cameron lenses, those are polarized ones, the new ones are shutter

  • @animes25 Oh yeah you're totally right.

  • duuuude... James cameron does use the polarized version. and the two are just about the same anyway... One requires placing twice as many immages on the screen at once (shutter) and blockin each eye in sync 2 only see the L and R versions and the other has 2 immages on one screen (polarized) with diferently phased polarized images (wiki Polarize or somthing 2 learn what I mean)

  • Thats not true, that doesnt have anything to do with "James camerons" technology. Shutter or polarised glasses only depend on what the theater has installed. You can see avatar/alice in wonderland both in Polarised and shutter. All james cameron did is ask for some techies to put together a nice versatile stereoscopic camera.

  • why are you guys talking about transformers we are talking about avatar

  • this tech has been around for ages? universal studios, no?

  • #pregnantnproud not really.

  • well the clear 3d glasses have. i'd better be impressed with avatar' 3d or else i'm right

  • @pregnantnproud Yeah only for animation. The new 3d technology is for live action film.

  • oh i see. cool. you seen avatar yet?

  • @pregnantnproud Yes, it's awesome. I wasn't even interested in it until I saw it. It's kinda got that hippie faggy anti-war vibe which bugs me (not because I'm for or against war but just..I dunno it's soo douchey and cliche) But other then that, it's an amazing movie and the special FX were at times almost... like... I got the chills during certain points, lemme put it that way.

  • Do want!

  • awsome james cameron rocks

  • Ive seen Toy Story in Dolby digital cinema 3D at the Empire Leicester Square via the JBL dbx 56KW THX sound system. It was frightening at times because I was sat front row and centre I had the whole largest THX screen in the UK to myself. October 2nd.

  • wow. When did this video air?

2007? Wow. At least the wait is almost over.

Who just can't wait to see Avatar?

  • anyone know the name of the camera? i've been looking everywhere but can't find it!

  • Pace-Cameron Fusion Platform.

  • Idiots Michael Bay doesn't like 3D technology. It will be the studio who will make that decision. They can still make Transformers in 3D but we will have to see if that ever happens.

  • So few filmmakers have the capital to pull this sort of project off.

    Thank you, James Cameron.

  • Aliens of the Abyss seen it at the failed Sheridan IMAX Bournemouth many years ago. I have the R2 DVD in 2D and it still looks impressive thats because its in six-track Dolby stereo, now then!

  • It would be good if the movie titanic is repeated in 3D!!!!! Like toy story 1/2, And The Nightmare before christmas

  • Dude, imagine being surrounded by 10ft aliens. That's what Avatar is going to be like. It's going to be INCREDIBLE!

  • @MasterOranda I love AVATAR but the 3D experience wasn't as good :X

  • i love james cameron him and stan winston pretty much made CGI with terminator 2 and 1 scene in the abyss. but dickheads like michael bay come along and take a huge dump on it..... no doubt michael bay will use this in transformers 3 and take credit for it

  • Oh, please I can see the title already how lame! Transformers3 in 3-D expirarence every wooden piece of dialogue now in the extra transformable dimension of 3-D. Michael Bay can cram it up his well laid 3-D ass! I didnt bother seeing Transformers 2 because the first one was just sheer wooden dialogue rubbish! the sound effects where neat in 56KW JBL THX at the Empire!

  • you didn't miss anything by not seeing Transformers 2

It was the same Michael Bay song and dance number. Complete with crappy actors, racial stereotypes, slutty, dumb chicks, hard-to-watch action, and overly-overt American jingoism

  • Yeah I figured just as much. I cant be asked to buy the Bluray Transformers 2 when it comes out, Michael Bay can keep it!

  • This movie is going to make George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and the audience shit their pants.

  • THX now goes into the 3-D TH3-D or THD Total Harmonic Distortion3% LOL Yeah we dont want Star Wars in 3-D thanks we want the originals first as they where showcased in 70mm six-track Dolby stereo and we know what to listen for George Lucas so no fast ones you greedy little sly git!

  • @peaceandmetal88 Did you shit your pants?

  • smell is used to aid in vision process, enabling us to hunt for food or detect signs of danger (smoke/fire etc). i think smaller cameras will enable more maneuverabilty and better focusing on object nearer.

  • lets hope they do not use the same system thier using for ghosts of the abbys wich had ghosting issues. camera size i believe is why your getting issues in ghosting as well as placement. humans have very small eyes as well as eagles, animals with larger eyes have poor eyesite but more developed senses of smell.

  • Ive seen Ghosts of the Abyss at the failed Sheridan IMAX Bournemouth in 3-D. I have the R2 DVD in 2D and it still looks impressive thats because its in six-track Dolby stereo, now then!

  • well at least they have the camera movements correctly down, your eyes actually remove doubleing and focus by moving, something many stereo makers dont get. your eyes actually cross to view small objects in the center of your vision.

  • So what's the difference between this technology and RealD?

  • RealD is a projection system.

    Fusion-Pace-Cameron is a camera system.

  • James Cameron is a perfectionist with a lot of money. He can release it when he feels like it.

  • kool Im a cameron fan, but now working poor can buy future producers a new rolls royce Awesome technology!!!!

  • it's just bringing us closer to hologram technology where the will be no screens whatsoever, everything will be holograms and will appear better than this 'new 3-d' that Jacque Fresco really invented years ago, yet they didn't pay him so the project got squashed.

Holograms is where it at, but still, if the movie is shit and 3-d then its still shit, if a movie has a good story line and isn't even a real film but anime then it is worth watching, just wait till the porn industry destroy this tech

  • Jacque Fresco is a genius. That is the only intelligent bit of information i got out of your comment, but i definitely agree.

  • Lol what a douche.

  • When was this video made? The release has been pushed back almost 2 2/3 years now!

  • Cameron's next film was first announced in early 2003, probably to be released in 2005. It has been pushed back about FIVE YEARS.

What's worse, is he was supposed to do Battle Angel Alita, which is now pushed back another two years or so. Instead, his new movie is Avatar.

  • Yeah but Avatar is going to be amazing.

  • MID 2007???

    Try this summer 2009 PSST

  • Try this December 2009

  • They were off.
