I remember that episode on BBC One back in 1998 when she fell, due to her having a brain aneurysm, which then left her blind for a little while in Autumn 1998.
Blimey, Madge sure did take a tumble down those stairs, didn't she?
Its because she complained to Neighbours that her character wasnt as fiesty any more and they woudnt listen to her and ultimatly she left the seieres in November 2000 which aired in Melbourne April 2001 :(
@Homeandawayguy it was also the fact that she felt Madge had been turned into a more 'meek and passive' character which was a far cry from the feisty person she was always written as. I have to agree.
Yeah i dont see why they chouldit keep her feisty side.It seem to me they wanting to turn Madge into Helen. Why Madge has got some very good points and kind women she does however have tough side
This was when they decided to start making the newly returned Madge into a victim rather than a fighter, which ultimately resulted in the destruction of the character. She might still be in the show now if it hadn't been for the mistakes made by scriptwriters, which led to Ann Charleston's decision to quit.

Thanks for uploading this clip. :-)
The music in this clip rocks. It's "Suspender" by Music Director Chris Pettifer.
