A little misleading to say the Aesops' Fable 'inspired' Disney... 'reassured' might be closer. He saw it when in New York looking for a company to record the soundtrack for "Steamboat Wilie", and wrote back to his brother Roy: “It merely had an orchestra playing and adding some noises. The talking part does not mean a thing. It doesn’t even match. We sure have nothing to worry about from these quarters”.
Could that be the same one that had Grim Natwick's first assignment? I have read that his first assignment was a racehorse in a 1918 Happy Hooligan cartoon.
