Hi! Have you tried - fast abs magic (search on google)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got really defined Six pack abs and lost a truck load of of fat with it.
Can you discuss the relation between fat, insulin, and candida? after 2 years of ups and downs I realized that it's been fat that caused flareups. As the only carbs I was eating were greens. Fat would decide whether I digest the carbs or the candida does. Now I'm making progress living off of leaves and 0 fat fish like mahi mahi and tuna. Almonds, walnuts, and steaks wrecked me.
this is a HUGE miss understanding!! going sugar/carbs free does not get u anywhere!!! if u do not give candida sugar its goes iinto the system looking for glucose anyway!! thats systemic candidaties!! loads of people go sugar free for many years and it just gets worst!! eat sugar, fruit and squashes and you'll do good. mix them with saturated fats only, some animal protein like cheese,or eggs(they go fat with em)and things will get better!!
Can't eat fat because it clogs one's arteries. Can't eat protein because it's damaging on one's kidneys. Can't eat carbohydrates because of candida. We have to eat SOMETHING!!
@rpmangin Fat does not clog arteries! See some of my other videos on fat. Or check out my longer presentations on my personal site zoeharcombe (com) We need to eat what we've eaten for 3.5 million years since man first walked upright - anything from any animal we could catch, any vegetation, rare fruits in season, nuts & seeds.
@ZoeHarcombe Nuts and seeds I might be able to believe. However, if animals are our natural food, then why don't they appeal to us in their raw state? You wouldn't eat an animal you found dead on the road without skinning it and rinsing away the blood first, would you? However, a true carnivore, or opportunistic omnivore, would, blood and all (after all, assuming you buy that animal nutrients are best for us, most of the nutrients are found IN THE BLOOD, and organs).
Also, you mention stopping medication in order to get rid of candida. He is on anti-depressants, and these are not negotiable...will he ever be able to get rid of candida?
I am trying to convince my fiance to start the Harcombe Diet with me. He has terrible candida, and doesn't agree with you advocating carbs and fruits. He also doubts 5 days is long enough for Phase 1? Why not just stay on Phase 1? He said he's looked into the Candida Diet which basically is the same as your Phase 1, but lasts for 6 months. Can you clear up the confusion?
I found Zoe Harcombe's video by chance a month or so ago. I did the phase one and I'm on phase 2. I use to crave for biscuits, sweet chocolat and ice cream. I stuck to her instructions and great information and I am finidng myself loosing weight and not starving myself. I've allowed myself a piece of chocolat from time to time, but I changed to 70% to 85% cocoa and I only have a few bits as a dinner desert. I find her diet very healthy and very easy to follow. I am very greatful!
Hi there - we have a club for questions now because there are too many to try and answer in different places. Check out theharcombedietclub (com) - you will be able to see the Q&A's for free and can post questions to get an immediate answer for a nominal sum (to keep spammers and advertisers out)
Most Western medicine disproves Candida. A systematic candida infection is bull, and doesn't happen unless you are severely immunocompromised (end stages of AIDS) and/or terminally ill. Yes, you can get yeast infection (visible symptoms) and thrush (visible symptoms), but to say that our millions of years of evolution of our immune system prevents us from handling a fungus is bogus. If the condition did exist theoretically then take an antifungal drug and be done with it.
my treatment called Orthomolecular, i dont know if you know it. DONT start a candida diet by yourself. the rule is, diet but no supplements? IT WONT WORK. supplement without diet? IT WONT WORK..dont start by yourself
I cant eat bread, because there is yeast in it, so thats forbidden. No alcohol and ALL the E-numbers (chemicals they put in food to make it taste, smell and look better) are forbidden. The rest, vegatables, are biologic. you can imagin that i cant eat a lot, but it is allright, because there are a lot of thing that i CAN eat, but you have to find it in the nature shop. I get a electric accapunctuur, and with all the thing they help me get rid of the candida, as much as it can
I dont know how it goes in England, America etc. but here, in The Netherland it goes like this.(sorry for my English) When you think you have, or you have Candida, you have to go to a alternative doctor, because our normale doctors here dont believe in cure, or in candida either. So you have to go to an alternative doctor. You get NATURAL medicines, like vitamines, and you get a very very very strict diet. It is forbidden for me to eat sugar, as well in food as just sugar..
Hi there - your English is really good! It's similar in the UK - it's treated by alternative doctors not normal doctors - which is not good because it's a serious and nasty condition. I agree with you that diet and anti fungal supplements are best but I do think you can make a huge difference with diet alone - just starving Candida of sugar and refined carbs can make a real difference. Good luck with getting yours better
YOU CANT STARVE CANDIDA. IF SOMEONE CAME INTO YOUR HOME AND TOOK ALL OF YOUR FOOD WHAT WOULD YOU DO? YUP YOU GUESSED IT! YOU WOULD GO SHOPPING!! ALL YOU DO BY ATTEMPTING TO STARVE THE CANDIDA IS YOU CAUSE IT TO CHANG INTO ITS FUNGAL FORM TO FIND FOOD. YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS MADE TO IGNORE IT BECAUSE IT'S IN YOUR GENETICS. IT HAS AN AMAZING ABILITY TO ADAPT TO IT'S ENVIRONMENT. IT HAS AN ABILITY TO CHANGE FROM YEAST TO FUNGAL, FUNGAL TO YEAST AND SO ON. Diet does help but you CANNOT STARVE IT.
@Smithpromotions Not to mention, ALL foods eventually break down into sugar in your bloodstream, so yes, you can't starve it. Every cell in the body RUNS on glucose, so even if all your calories came from fat and protein, your body would just convert those to glucose, which will also feed the candida.
One last question, instead of the 3 day fast, what is a good way to start the Candida diet in a way that really helps knock it down quickly, I can't fast completely like that because of my condition but I can get by on small amounts of protein, I of course crave certain things, "filling" feeling foods and that's about the only thing I deviate on, even then it's usually Ezekiel bread with skippy natural and honey.
So on my case why wouldn't I take the medicine to get it the heck out of there while refining my diet as needed, why go the slow route? I've seen a lot of anti medicine philosophy relating to candida cures, I know the absolute benefit of a proper diet but once it is out of control why not do both? And what do you think about Kefir or goats milk? Thanx
they do have medicines to treat Candida overgrowth. I think I have it, have all the symptoms and all the reasons for getting it, testosterone injections, pain medicine, lots if carbs....the spit test although I don't know if that's realistic. There is definitely a change in the structure of my saliva. Also getting these strange red splotches on the face dyeing the tines I get sick and have to lay down for days. I can't afford and wouldn't be able to do some wacky radical diet. Shit.
The diet isn't radical at all - it's called eating what nature delivers! Go for plain meat, fish, eggs, vegetables (not potatoes or mushrooms), salads and Natural Live Yoghurt and you will get Candida back under control as quickly as is naturally possible. There are some useful medications - but they are all quite expensive. Just eat real food and no money wasted on junk!
@ZoeHarcombe Hi, that's pretty much what I eat now, I'm on a diet for those with intractable pain and it already consists of everything you wrote. It's a high protein, low carb, even lower simple carb diet. I had seen a program for Candida overgrowth that started with a 3 day fast drinking lemon juice with maple syrup, then 1 week of only this and that, 2 weeks of that and this.... It was really complicated because it nixed so many main ingredients.
Hi Flushed - many thanks for sharing this. It's a very interesting one. I can find articles & blogs linking Prozac & SSRI's (as the group is called) to weight gain. But SSRI's are also often used to help with compulsive behaviour, like bulimia! So, as with many drugs, they can help or hinder weight. I don't see how prozac can affect candida, as it's not a hormone. Interestingly, candida causes many emotional symptoms which may ease the need for Prozac....
.... Attack the Candida and you may not have the same need for Prozac. The best way to attack Candida is through diet - meat, fish, eggs, vegetables (not potatoes), salads, Natural LIVE/BIO yoghurt and no more than 50g a day of brown rice and Candida will die very quickly!
@ZoeHarcombe im not sticking to the diet fully i just cant but im taking two lemons and a probiotic definity improvment but is this still ok?should i also take a garlic supplement?
The single biggest difference will be made if you follow the anti-Candida diet. I smiled when you say "I can't" because this is one of the main symptoms of Candida - you crave the foods that feed it. You really can get this parasite under control and have no cravings and feel great. You just have to go through the withdrawal (and die-off) pain to start with. It is SO worth it - you have no idea how bad Candida makes you feel till you zap it
@ZoeHarcombe i think i can deal with the cravings but what should i eat for dinnear?i normally eat rice potatoes or chips none of these are allowed PLS HELP i just deveopled scalp eczema from this and LOSING MY HAIR.
The diet for zapping Candida (and I've read the books from the main experts on Candida going back 20 years) is plain meat/fish/eggs/salads/vegetables (NOT potatoes or mushrooms)/Natural LIVE yoghurt and a small amount of brown rice. Drinks = decaf tea/coffee or water or herbal teas - nothing else. If you need more than this - you need to get a book on Candida or get my "Stop Counting Calories & Start Losing Weight" book and it covers this & 2 other connected conditions.
p.s. you are so right to make the connection between Candida and the scalp condition. Candida is a fungus and dandruff/flaky scalps are classic symptoms.
Hi Bill - the issue with The Harcombe Diet & Xenical is not Candida, but fat intake. The Harcombe Diet is all about eating real food (meat, fish, eggs, veg, salad, fruits, wholegrains, dairy products etc). Xenical requires a very low fat diet to be consumed, which is usually a processed food (low fat/high sugar/high carb) diet. There would be too much fat eating real food to be compatible with Xenical. Either Xenical & high carbs or The Harcombe Diet - I know what I would choose!
I HATE THIS DUMB CANDIDA DIET. im craving my regular foods. i ate a healthy diet before yet apparantly i still have candida. i never even taken antibiotics either, ever.
this is more like a starvation diet going no where. ik cant tell if my symtoms are improving. no matter what i eat, im always eating something that is not allowed!
You should not crave food! There are 3 reasons for food cravings (my books explain all 3). Candida is one of them.
If you do have Candida you either need to sort it or it will be with you for life and it will get worse (it doesn't get better on its own). The perfect diet to attack candida is meat/fish/eggs/veg/salad/live yoghurt - that will starve the parasite - it won't starve you!
I do know what the cravings are like - I've been there - they are horrid - I would never want to go back there
welll...since i fainted on the first week of the diet, seen no improvements in symtoms, had cravings the whole time & recently my face is reddening & stinging/burning/itching, im wondering if candida is even the problem for me. i shouldnt have self-diagnosed at home for symtoms. hopefully ill get some actusly test done on my blood or something & find out what is really in me
my pre candida diet wasnt even a bad one & was no where near a SAD diet, nor did i ever take antibiotics
The imune system can turn candida back into the friendly organism its supposed to be if you eat right and take the correct supplements to help it. It takes one month of healing for every year you've been sick.
after many many websites etc...your video made the most sense, had a mouth problem last spring it started again here a year later, concluded it was Candida. Biotene products help the mouth and acidulous, it has been OK the past week, but now any sodium what so ever sends me into turmoil is sodium intolerance part of this candida problem? gonna check out your site and starve this thing-thanks!
Hi Zoe, I love your videos. You explain things so well and it makes absolute sense to me. I have suffered hypoglycemia since childhood and suspect I have had problems with Candida. What is your opinion of Kefir (probiotic drink made with milk or sweetened water). Can it be consumed with an anti-candida diet?
Hi there - thanks so much for your kind comment. I don't know Kefir as a brand, but, as soon as I see 'sweetened' it doesn't sound good. Check out the FAQ's page on theharcombediet web site. Sweeteners is the number 1 asked question and the full answer is there.
Best to starve Candida out and get rid of your sweet tooth
@elinda65 unfortunately no kefir is not good when you have candida because it still turns to sugar in the body. When you get your candida cured I think it would be okay.
Sugar is top of the list: Sucrose being worst of all but fructose (fruit sugar) and lactose (milk sugar) can all feed Candida. Sucrose you can cut out of your diet for the rest of your life and your health can only benefit (my view). Fruit and dairy products you will want to go back to for their nutrition, but you'll have to watch Candida as and when you do. Second is then bread/yeast/grains and other carbs. Candida loves carbs (which can be turned into sugar easily). Hope this helps! Zoe x
And again! I haven't come across Dr Whiting - my sources on Candida were Chaitow (1987), Crook (1983) and Trowbridge & Walker (1986). Chaitow & Crook allow fruit, as an example, after 2-3 weeks. T&W say to stay off it for longer. I think all practitioners would try and widen people's options asap, but not if the symptoms return. Each patient will be different and trial and error is very important.
Candida never disappears but diet has to be adjusted to keep it under control
So once you stick to a Candida reduction diet after several weeks you should be able to go back to eating those trigger foods? Why does Dr. Whiting say this will not work and you have to eliminate the Candida Infection first?
Hi there - you don't have to eat live yoghurt to beat Candida and obviously you can't eat it, if you are allergic to dairy products. Other natural anti-candida substances are garlic and the vitamin Biotin.
The final good news is that getting rid of Candida is much more dependent on what you DON'T eat than what you DO eat. Stop all sugar, processed foods, yeast and mushrooms. Limit fruit to no more than 2 pieces a day and this will have the biggest impact of all.
Hi there - a water fast is not a good idea because your body needs nutrients and energy to beat Candida.
The perfect anti-candida diet is plain meat, plain fish, eggs, any salads, any vegetables (except mushrooms & potatoes) and Natural Live Yoghurt. Some practitioners allow a small amount of brown rice (50g - dry weight - per day is OK). Drinks should be water and herbal teas.
Raw food diets are good for general health, but not great for trying to beat Candida.
it definetly has risen for me since i started eating so much more fruit and fats together, slowed down on the fat but i am not back to 100% if i cut back on fruit i ll be mostly eating all veggies as i am more or less all raw now, but they also have carbs....so could i just do a 2 or 3 day water fast?
conventional medicine is responsible for creating conditions such as ME/CFS/fibromyalgia but not adequately treating it's root causes- which are a combination of overlapping hypothyroidism/and corollary systemic candida..if docs told the truth that candida was real it'd take money from the pharmas and the food companies both of who rule the roost..
I went from being hungry & eating carbs, gluten, starches junk along with constant panic attacks, severe OCD, severe digestive Hypoglycemia problems but I've been trying to do the diet for 15 years. Untill I stared the different forms of colonic hydro therapy with antifungals. Having ocd kept me from going through with several of them & before hand the diet was like comming of major morphine & I'd give up after two weeks or a few days. Now I only eat once a day.
only T3 at higher doses than regulated endocrinologists/docs could even consider..why? because theyre told to push T4 to the exclusion of all others, so make false conventions that any other thyroid medicines are 'dangerous'/non-conventional..ps hypothyroid sufferers often have severe candida as a result of weakened immune systems etc.. and currently my NHS GP is trying to get me to stop taking my T3 - as it's expensive & 'noon-conventional'..politics and ignorance mean docs kill as many as cure
Yes this is legit stuff & real. The US & Britian goverments are controlled by drug companies the drug companies would go bank rupt If they really tried to help people like this lady. Look at the stock market Teva drugs or most of them. They havent dropped with the stock crash. Colonics is the only way to really knock candida down to where you can do the diet if you are a major carb eater. I can't stand the though of carbs now.
correct! ive hypothyroidism , which was midiagnosed as ME/CFS...turns out mainstream medicine willingly makes it hard to diagnose and even treat thyroid sufferers as by keeping them under the 'hopeless chronic illness' bracket it always ends up putting them on anti-depressants, pain-killers, tranquilisers..also Endocrinologists are regulated by the British Thyroid Committee, who are totally in the pockets of the pharmas..they push T4 as its the drug company money maker..yet for me only T3 works
Try to find an integrative dr. that treats what they call wilson syndrome. Here is the web page they can help you find a dr. that uses t3 that orders it & you get it from the dr.s office or they mail it to you. I know what you mean. But your thyroid might clear up if you try to cycle t3 if you have no thyroid then Armour has is awesome & you can take it everyday
It's so sad how many people the US & British dr's are killing everyday. My God have you been to a main stream dr. & heard the garbage they come up with. Yes they are ok if you are really sick or need test but man it's so sad what they are doing to people. The doctors & drug companies would go under if more people knew what there doing to make money. Hey they will pay for what they are doing to people & ruining so many peoples lives.
Hi there - both starving Candida and attacking it is a great double action thing to do. On balance I think starving it has more impact, but attacking it is also great.
I can't recommend medication but there are some over the counter pharmacy products for attacking candida, which I take if ever I get a bout of Candida. Canesten make one and Boots in the UK have their own brand. It's a one tablet remedy and it can kill off the nasty all through the body
I have read that using over the counter meds can make it more difficult to treat as it gets a resistance to the medication. The tougher candida survive and multiply.
I am suffering from candida and for the past three days I have not only begun starving it but also treating it with herbal supplements and eating lots of garlic and onions. Will I have a different effect in recovery because I starved and attacked at the same time or does it really matter? I just want to rid my body of this beast that has effected me for so many years now.
Wow - you ask good questions! I am not aware of Candida being a cause of acne in any way, but I do expect that many of the treatments for cystic-nodular acne could cause Candida. Acne is commonly treated with hormones or steroids and both can lead to an overgrowth of Candida. Hope this helps a bit. Zoe x
Good question - any white nodules in the mouth (not just on the tongue) can be a sign of Candida overgrowth. It's quite common to get a tiny scraping on the roof of the mouth, like a bit of stringy cheese is stuck up there.
Thank you very much! So sorry it's taken so long to reply - this is the busy time of year for diet advisors - everyone getting ready for the New Year regimes!

If you need more than this - you need to get a book on Candida or get my "Stop Counting Calories & Start Losing Weight" book and it covers this & 2 other connected conditions.

@TheTomtomtim
p.s. you are so right to make the connection between Candida and the scalp condition. Candida is a fungus and dandruff/flaky scalps are classic symptoms.

Zoe,
What is the position regarding the Harcombe Diet and the use of Orlistat (Xencial) - would this increase / contribute towards candida?
Thanks - very informative videos and website.

Best wishes Zoe

I HATE THIS DUMB CANDIDA DIET. im craving my regular foods. i ate a healthy diet before yet apparantly i still have candida. i never even taken antibiotics either, ever.
this is more like a starvation diet going no where. ik cant tell if my symtoms are improving. no matter what i eat, im always eating something that is not allowed!
this diet malnourishes/starves you
BellaaMarlene 2 years ago
You should not crave food! There are 3 reasons for food cravings (my books explain all 3). Candida is one of them.
If you do have Candida you either need to sort it or it will be with you for life and it will get worse (it doesn't get better on its own). The perfect diet to attack candida is meat/fish/eggs/veg/salad/live yoghurt - that will starve the parasite - it won't starve you!
I do know what the cravings are like - I've been there - they are horrid - I would never want to go back there
ZoeHarcombe 2 years ago
welll...since i fainted on the first week of the diet, seen no improvements in symtoms, had cravings the whole time & recently my face is reddening & stinging/burning/itching, im wondering if candida is even the problem for me. i shouldnt have self-diagnosed at home for symtoms. hopefully ill get some actusly test done on my blood or something & find out what is really in me
my pre candida diet wasnt even a bad one & was no where near a SAD diet, nor did i ever take antibiotics
BellaaMarlene 2 years ago
ive been on the diet for 3 weeks & did not stop craving sweet stuff. i felt like i was 'starving' myself
BellaaMarlene 2 years ago
Withdrawal symptoms from junk food may make you feel worse than usual in the short term, but healthy food won't make you faint!
You're right to get things checked - I hope you find out what's going on with you soon
Best wishes - Zoe

Can it be consumed with an anti-candida diet?
elinda65 2 years ago
Hi there - thanks so much for your kind comment. I don't know Kefir as a brand, but, as soon as I see 'sweetened' it doesn't sound good. Check out the FAQ's page on theharcombediet web site. Sweeteners is the number 1 asked question and the full answer is there.
Best to starve Candida out and get rid of your sweet tooth
Good luck!
Best wishes - Zoe
ZoeHarcombe 2 years ago
@elinda65 unfortunately no kefir is not good when you have candida because it still turns to sugar in the body. When you get your candida cured I think it would be okay.

HI Zoe,
What would you say are the main trigger foods for candida- the ones which really should be avoided at all costs?
Thanks Rachael
rachaelctripp 2 years ago

Thx for these - Zoe
ZoeHarcombe 2 years ago
So once you stick to a Candida reduction diet after several weeks you should be able to go back to eating those trigger foods? Why does Dr. Whiting say this will not work and you have to eliminate the Candida Infection first?

Hi there. Thanks for the video.
Is there a connection between Interstitial Cystitis & Candida infections?
tmobileg 2 years ago
Hi there - you don't have to eat live yoghurt to beat Candida and obviously you can't eat it, if you are allergic to dairy products. Other natural anti-candida substances are garlic and the vitamin Biotin.
The final good news is that getting rid of Candida is much more dependent on what you DON'T eat than what you DO eat. Stop all sugar, processed foods, yeast and mushrooms. Limit fruit to no more than 2 pieces a day and this will have the biggest impact of all.
Hope this helps - Zoe
ZoeHarcombe 2 years ago
what can you take instead of live yogurt if you are allergic to dairy?
eastpassion69 2 years ago
Hi there - a water fast is not a good idea because your body needs nutrients and energy to beat Candida.
The perfect anti-candida diet is plain meat, plain fish, eggs, any salads, any vegetables (except mushrooms & potatoes) and Natural Live Yoghurt. Some practitioners allow a small amount of brown rice (50g - dry weight - per day is OK). Drinks should be water and herbal teas.
Raw food diets are good for general health, but not great for trying to beat Candida.
Hope this helps - Zoe

it definetly has risen for me since i started eating so much more fruit and fats together, slowed down on the fat but i am not back to 100% if i cut back on fruit i ll be mostly eating all veggies as i am more or less all raw now, but they also have carbs....so could i just do a 2 or 3 day water fast?

conventional medicine is responsible for creating conditions such as ME/CFS/fibromyalgia but not adequately treating it's root causes- which are a combination of overlapping hypothyroidism/and corollary systemic candida..if docs told the truth that candida was real it'd take money from the pharmas and the food companies both of who rule the roost..
vincent4500 3 years ago
I heard that many doctors dont even know much about this condition...So how you found out if you have candidis in your digestive system?...Tests?
NewDaniela 3 years ago
I went from being hungry & eating carbs, gluten, starches junk along with constant panic attacks, severe OCD, severe digestive Hypoglycemia problems but I've been trying to do the diet for 15 years. Untill I stared the different forms of colonic hydro therapy with antifungals. Having ocd kept me from going through with several of them & before hand the diet was like comming of major morphine & I'd give up after two weeks or a few days. Now I only eat once a day.

only T3 at higher doses than regulated endocrinologists/docs could even consider..why? because theyre told to push T4 to the exclusion of all others, so make false conventions that any other thyroid medicines are 'dangerous'/non-conventional..ps hypothyroid sufferers often have severe candida as a result of weakened immune systems etc.. and currently my NHS GP is trying to get me to stop taking my T3 - as it's expensive & 'noon-conventional'..politics and ignorance mean docs kill as many as cure
vincent4500 3 years ago
Yes this is legit stuff & real. The US & Britian goverments are controlled by drug companies the drug companies would go bank rupt If they really tried to help people like this lady. Look at the stock market Teva drugs or most of them. They havent dropped with the stock crash. Colonics is the only way to really knock candida down to where you can do the diet if you are a major carb eater. I can't stand the though of carbs now.
bmwguy21 3 years ago
correct! ive hypothyroidism , which was midiagnosed as ME/CFS...turns out mainstream medicine willingly makes it hard to diagnose and even treat thyroid sufferers as by keeping them under the 'hopeless chronic illness' bracket it always ends up putting them on anti-depressants, pain-killers, tranquilisers..also Endocrinologists are regulated by the British Thyroid Committee, who are totally in the pockets of the pharmas..they push T4 as its the drug company money maker..yet for me only T3 works
vincent4500 3 years ago

Hope this helps - Zoe
ZoeHarcombe 3 years ago
I have read that using over the counter meds can make it more difficult to treat as it gets a resistance to the medication. The tougher candida survive and multiply.
bcnewe 2 years ago

Zoe x
ZoeHarcombe 3 years ago
is there a relation with cystic-nodular acne?
coperniciaTalent 3 years ago
question: white coated mouth? or only tongue?
coperniciaTalent 3 years ago
Good question - any white nodules in the mouth (not just on the tongue) can be a sign of Candida overgrowth. It's quite common to get a tiny scraping on the roof of the mouth, like a bit of stringy cheese is stuck up there.
