I agree that these phone are pretty well on a par with each other. The difference is cost. You can get the Nokia E71 for just $45 a month on Straight Talk. This is the best prepaid smartphone that I know of. I much prefer not to have a contract because, along with everyone I know, I have been abused too much by contract companies.

Bold Suxxxx.....it's freakin trackball keeps getting screwed every now and then..made is cheap and features can't match up to E71 too....don't have a Video calling camera too. Plus bold is too too expensive....F**K is all i can say to bold.

try e-buddy, go to their mobile site using WIFI (or 3h, doesn't matter) , and it will ask if you want to install it. chose your phone model and install. It's really easy and works for MSN, yahoo and some others. Hope this helped :)

I have the e71 and as usual, I am always getting bored of cell phones and getting new ones, well I was locked in on the bold, I love the look of it, so I decided to go to the AT&T store to check it out in person, AAAWWGGH! I hated it!, it feels so light and cheesy ( I personally HATE light phones), its keypad has a dummy phone feeling to it.....I loved its display resolution but other than that, I really hated its feeling. I decided to stick with my e71. A question of personal taste. Cheers.

This review was opioion based, why does a stainless steel back seem like such a huge detail? All is does is causes your signal strength(wi-fi, edge, 2G, 3G) to be worse. A prime example of that would be how the backing on the iPhone changed from the first iPhone to the 3G. Not to mention stainless steel WILL get ugly scratches that can't be removed. And I've carried my Bold in my pocket for months and the trackball is a clean as it was on day one. Also, how is the Bold not sleek? Hold one.

The best thing to do is to go to your local AT&T store. Check ou the E71x (same build as E71). Play with the Bold and the E71x and then decide. It is always nice to have a phone in hand first before you make your final decision. Good Luck

I had the Bold for about 2 weeks, couldn't stand it. I have the Curve 8310 as a backup which I keep going 'back' to. but the trackball is starting to stick and it's driving me nuts (and out of warranty).

I'm considering the E71 just to get out of that Blackberry rut.

I also had 3 iphones '3G' and they kept breaking in one way or another. broken mute buttons, pushed in 'main' button etc. etc.

If I get it, I'll let you know my opinions.

I don't like the first 2 iPhones, but the iPhone 3G S (even though it's "innovative" technology is very late) really draws my attention. Still I prefer physical keyboards to touch, so, If you do get the E71 could you do a review or something? Like saying what you like better on which phone and why? Thnx!

I think that the E71 vs Bold/Curve is a good comparison, mainly because I'm looking for a new phone with a decent camera and a great keyboard for email/sms/chat. I'm stuck with the E71, Bold, Curve 8900(no 3g¬¬) and the Samsung Jack or Messenger phone as it is called here in Mexico, the specs are very similar, I have pretty big hands, but I can adapt to pretty much any keypad (qwerty,touch, or alphanumeric). How about a comparison between these phones?

I agree to a point, but I am one of those that wants a decent camera on my phone, for those "remember when we did this on that day" chats with friends and fam. My gf has the Curve and the 2MPX cam is pretty good, just gotta say that the flash leaves some really large white "splashes" on some pics, other times it's pretty great! Maybe the autofocus on the E71 will help beat the Bold's camera quality. Still, for great "OMG look at the details" pics than but a camera.

Anyone that has just set up a contract with 3 for the E71, DON'T BE FOOLED WHERE IS SAYS UNLIMITED INTERNET AND EMAIL!!! that is where they get you with DATA CHARGES! You only get unlimited internet, if you get a £5 internet add on. this is on the small print on their website, so be very careful, 3 will try and get whatever they can from you!!!!!!!!

e71x is not quite there yet..Im an IT director on my 10th day with e71x in heavy business use environment and being a loyal WM geek, I can tell you that the bold seems to perform much better across the various business apps, especially links to exchange &moving in and out of wifi zones, which constantly caused the e71x to freeze up. I AM RETURNING THIS POS e71x, its nice and thin but its not ready for serious biz use,you always get what u pay for, and for business, BLACKBERRY is the way to go.

The 16M vs 65K or 265K color screens is something many people argue about, At first I didn't see any differences between a SE and a Nokia until I saw a comparison where you can see the sky in the picture get really wavy, like a ripple in a river, imagine that effect on the 65K screens, what matters is the resolution, the BB resolution is twice the res on the Nok, so vids and pics should look nicer and more detailed on the BB.

The E71 has push email. Standard on E series. But it's not instant on like BB push, so u just have to connect through your inbox. u don't need to sign in, just need to connect to retrieve your emails.

It's not a hassle at all, and battery life is 2-3 days with average usage.

download 'nokia email' app. it is free as it is still at beta stage. this is an always on email app with free push email. In the UK u hav 2 pay extra to have push email on the blackberry but using nokia email it is completely free. Its pushes email instantly. there is also another program called 'system 7' which is the same (beta) but i prefer nokia email

I use IMAP with SmartBird connect app for S60. the emails just fly in, plus with BirdStep it will switch between all your access points (wifi-3g-edge) no matter where you are. BirdStep is for E-Series only as it gave me problems on my N95 8GB. Try it!

If u use ur fone for biz purposes go for black berry curve, cos although the e71 email ap is usable it's not as great as curve or bold. diff are: Bold better screen res(Twice that of e71) Bold better email app Bold better antenna (reception) Battery life same both E71 many free and paid app Bold Ltd software (maybe 10 est) E71 great media abilities (mp3, vid, games) Both have gps (nokia - pay for voice nav / world map use without voice is free) I vote e71

We are referring to the overall layout of the QWERTY keypad. The keypad layout on the Bold is more spacious than that of the E71. This makes typing a bit easier/quicker on the Bold.
