theres a pre modded xbox for sale down the street from me, and i want to get it. but if i do what other things will i need to mod? (will i still need action replay)?
@1234janke do you mean the official software? then again both ways your pretty much screwed..the only way to get official software is to find a install disk online now. For the modded dashboard, you'd just have to find the newest version of the dashboard and install as the instructions tell you
@sycosnot you place the saves in the program files of the action repay program (in the directory were the saves are, for mechassault). after that, if you had placed it in the right spot, it should show up in the mechassault saves section
i just got a mod xbox and i cant figure out how to start up the mod and old games the original xbox menu still comes up but the files are there for the nes and genises games but i cant get to em ....someone please help

@matt30392 usually there's a switch someone put into it in the side, which allows you to go online. other than that, try turning it on with the disk ejection button, instead of the power button. That's a method of dual booting, although it's more common for that to be practiced in a softmod instead of a hardmod
@Trainguyxx I have a modded Xbox with emulators and all but recently i have encountered a problem. When i turn it on the sound can be heard but it only shows a black screen with minor static and no its not the cables. Its something internal in the xbox. Please help??
@AlienFirefox well plugging it into your pc is a bit harder. You need to do a hotswap, and then you must run this special version of linux that copies over modded files. Honestly it's mostly for just upgraded hard drives, but i think you can softmod with it?

@8MCDonalds8 let's see. you should see something in the menu about file search, or something about looking through the folders. If you can find that, you can do to the music pictures and video directories and delete the contents pretty easily. If i totally got it wrong, go to the avalaunch website. they have information about their dashboard there.
@Trainguyxx "file manager". I got some stuff removed but see alot of stuff that, to me, looks geeky. LOL No idea if I need it or not and for some reason my mind is telling me I won't be able to delete anything I need. But, from general comp experience, I have found that not completely true. Like I have a "G" folder that only says "Err: 1005" to the right of it. No idea what that crap means. I will try launch site but think I am just gonna have to tuff it out. Thanks!

@SpecialCharm15 well, if you want to play the burned xbox game, then you have to soft mod it. soft modding removes the original dashboard which prevents copied games from working. for burning a disk, i would suggest you use qwix (or something like that) to create an iso that will work as a xbox disk. good luck =D
To everyone thinking about doing this: Datel took down the entire Mechassault folder. Now there is only Mechassault 2 saves. So you'll have to do some searching until you find this save.

@Trainguyxx i was talkn about the action replay software u need to have a sign in to get the community saves and it wont let me register but i managed to find a xbox with xbmc already installed but its hard to find any back ups online i can download for it and i cant get my dvd2xbox to work at all
@acidg0d well i haven't really done much with xbmc, mainly because i dont have much of a use for it, but it should just run dvd2xbox all the same. I would suggest reinstalling it.

@hellkid94 if your talking about the overall process of softmodding, no it will not. But i suggest you backup all of your saves before or after you softmod. I accidentally broke my original xbox when i removed an important file, and i lost ll my saves.
@IBABY1000 yes you can. There's 007: Agent Under Fire (very fun game), and there's Splinter cell. Both are (more or less) the same process, but you need a different kind of save that will reveal the exploit.

@brokenhomekid well unfortunatly if you described it correctly, that's the equivilent to the red ring, or bsod. I've only ever gotten it to be fixed once, when it happened the first time, and i could still pop disks in and rerun the mechassault cd and put the backup back on the xbox. try doing that if you can, but just put the disk in, power it off, and turn it on again so it bypasses the main menu
hi,i have a hard modded xbox with EVOX and i was wondering if it was possible to softmod another xbox by transfering the mod files into the hard modded xbox and then use the memory card to copy it into the not modded xbox and then use splinter cell to execute the files in the non-mdded xbox...is this possible?
@andree1991 actually, yes! you just need to put the memory file that contains the exploit (in your case the splinter cell one) and then put it on a normal memory card. and transfer! I wish it was the easy originally for me ='(
@HardCorePoopz hmm...well i never used it for games, but you can wire-splice a xbox cable to a usb cable and make a usb converter, then you can plug in anything usb. I use it for usb storage and whenever i want to use a keyboard and mouse with xbox linux. im sure if you try, you can get the xbox to recognise an external harddrive.
@formalmess yeah that's what i showed you to do in one of the first steps. to restore, just go to that save once more, then click "restore dashboard" (or something like that). it'll restore it then. You can also disable it, making it look liek it wasn't modded, then you can re enable it again.

I soft modded mine just last week with a similar method and using uleashedX. :) I also highly recommend that you download XBMC ass an app and the Navi-X script for it if you want the ultimate movie/picture/music player/downloader! Works great after a little setting up :D
Can anyone help me out here? The AR symbol is staying grey instead of green even though i have the memory card hooked up via USB. So I cant drag the save file across from PC memory to Memory card...
oh well there's a progra that you use to make a iso to use on the xbox, which is called quix. you take the folder (named Halo 2 in this case) filled with default and maps and such, and put it into quix, and it'll make you that iso. Thn youjust burn it the normal way

yes, definetly. there's emulators, actual games, and, of course, there's downloading ur disk games to the hard drive. i have also been trying to mod the xbox veriosn of hl2 to make my own gae =D
that usually mean that you screwed it up. it's hppened to me twice. i'm trying to find a good connection to my computer that i can use to restore that hard drive =(
well there's the things i showed you in the video, but you can also make a usb port converter and you can hook up a mouse and keyboard, and run linux directly off of the xbox, or you install a dashboard called "Avalaunch". it's slitghtly hard to come by, but it's a great dashboard. there's also Xbox Media Center (XBMC), which turns you computer into a cool version of windows media center. it still lets you do everything with the normal dashbord too, and it gives you all this good extra features
I'm thinking of doing this and I actually have the copy of mech assault. But I'm not sure I want to spend the money on the cable to transfer the save when a mod chip is about the same price. I'm really good with a soldering iron too, so which route is the best? Softmod or modchip?
well you can put the modchip in and it's a much greater benefit than softmodding, because you can swap out the hard drive. i know that transfer cables are a bitch, but if you can get that modchip in,it's your best bet
Soft-modding doesn't mean you can't swap out your hard-drive, I've got a soft-modded Xbox with a 1TB WD drive in it with no problems, so if expense is a problem I would say go the Softmod route, and if your not bothered about opening the console, the hotswap method is probably your cheapest option.

at your local gamestop, just remember to get the original version, not the silver edition, because it has this fix that will prevent you from hacking your xbox

umm helro u cant remove mods.......... this will stay on here forever its odd i have a friend that has this on his system and he got it from a friend lmao
if you do it wrong you removed the entire operating system and it will not work. one time i screwed up one xbox and it only worked if i put in games. if you are able to do that if you screw up you can try reinstalling the modded os and then later put in the old one.
well that is much harder. you have to hard mod your xbox instead of softmod. you'd need to buy different things in order to swap your hard drive, inclusign the new hard drive which is very specific. I've never tried it but you can look it up on the internet
You, can insert your mech assult, 007 or whatever game you used to mod it in the first place and go back to how you installed it in the first place. You can take it off at that screen.

Now, Im playing it but some games lag and stutter and it's quite inconvenient.
Just wanted to know if there is any way to fix it or update it right.
The selection of games are so garbage.

can u give me some advice any one my xbox is modded and has been working fine but all of a sudden a screen popped up and all it lists is ms dash board power off reboot settings and back up...it wont play any games or anything ive taking the whole xbox apart and put it back together and tha same ass shit comes up any ideas

@brokenhomekid well unfortunatly if you described it correctly, that's the equivilent to the red ring, or bsod. I've only ever gotten it to be fixed once, when it happened the first time, and i could still pop disks in and rerun the mechassault cd and put the backup back on the xbox. try doing that if you can, but just put the disk in, power it off, and turn it on again so it bypasses the main menu

hi,i have a hard modded xbox with EVOX and i was wondering if it was possible to softmod another xbox by transfering the mod files into the hard modded xbox and then use the memory card to copy it into the not modded xbox and then use splinter cell to execute the files in the non-mdded xbox...is this possible?

@andree1991 actually, yes! you just need to put the memory file that contains the exploit (in your case the splinter cell one) and then put it on a normal memory card. and transfer! I wish it was the easy originally for me ='(

@HardCorePoopz hmm...well i never used it for games, but you can wire-splice a xbox cable to a usb cable and make a usb converter, then you can plug in anything usb. I use it for usb storage and whenever i want to use a keyboard and mouse with xbox linux. im sure if you try, you can get the xbox to recognise an external harddrive.

@formalmess yeah that's what i showed you to do in one of the first steps. to restore, just go to that save once more, then click "restore dashboard" (or something like that). it'll restore it then. You can also disable it, making it look liek it wasn't modded, then you can re enable it again.

I soft modded mine just last week with a similar method and using uleashedX. :) I also highly recommend that you download XBMC ass an app and the Navi-X script for it if you want the ultimate movie/picture/music player/downloader! Works great after a little setting up :D

oh well there's a progra that you use to make a iso to use on the xbox, which is called quix. you take the folder (named Halo 2 in this case) filled with default and maps and such, and put it into quix, and it'll make you that iso. Thn youjust burn it the normal way

yes, definetly. there's emulators, actual games, and, of course, there's downloading ur disk games to the hard drive. i have also been trying to mod the xbox veriosn of hl2 to make my own gae =D

well there's the things i showed you in the video, but you can also make a usb port converter and you can hook up a mouse and keyboard, and run linux directly off of the xbox, or you install a dashboard called "Avalaunch". it's slitghtly hard to come by, but it's a great dashboard. there's also Xbox Media Center (XBMC), which turns you computer into a cool version of windows media center. it still lets you do everything with the normal dashbord too, and it gives you all this good extra features

I'm thinking of doing this and I actually have the copy of mech assault. But I'm not sure I want to spend the money on the cable to transfer the save when a mod chip is about the same price. I'm really good with a soldering iron too, so which route is the best? Softmod or modchip?

well you can put the modchip in and it's a much greater benefit than softmodding, because you can swap out the hard drive. i know that transfer cables are a bitch, but if you can get that modchip in,it's your best bet

Soft-modding doesn't mean you can't swap out your hard-drive, I've got a soft-modded Xbox with a 1TB WD drive in it with no problems, so if expense is a problem I would say go the Softmod route, and if your not bothered about opening the console, the hotswap method is probably your cheapest option.

Ive ordered spinter cell from ebay and action replay from code junkies ive got the file from xbins,I went to system info on my xbox and theres two numbers:
k:1.5838.01 and d:1.00.5660.01

wel you dont need the files from xbins, it's already going to be on action replay, which is convinient as hell XD

Ive done it now put the soft mod on,the first one i tried was the wrong soft mod,but put the right one on and the xbox even loads backup games now,so chuft gonna make a video soon. I got the unleash dashboard and FTP the xbox and put media centre on.

can any1 help me please? I softmodded my xbox but when I tried to install the dashboard it didnt work, well the xbox still works but i fail to back up the original and I restored the original ms and now i have no dash at all but gaems still load just from turning on the system and I have no options to transfer the mechassault (run Lenux) save file from the memory card to the system. HELP! PLEASE!

if you do it wrong you removed the entire operating system and it will not work. one time i screwed up one xbox and it only worked if i put in games. if you are able to do that if you screw up you can try reinstalling the modded os and then later put in the old one.

well that is much harder. you have to hard mod your xbox instead of softmod. you'd need to buy different things in order to swap your hard drive, inclusign the new hard drive which is very specific. I've never tried it but you can look it up on the internet
