  • what the f*ck has he got on his head? tea cosy?

  • Please Joe I plead with!! Either get rid of Sammy Hagar in CHickenfoot or leave them yourself!!! You have worked your butt off at getting a respectable name by your own yet how you can be making music with a cringe worth singer like Sammy Hagar is mind blowing. Your music is too great to be ruin by & person that'll never recover being ex-wife to VH. King EVH got rid of SH for one reason, he wasn't doing the music justice & treated everything as a side project to his 'who cares' solo career.

  • joe satriani looks like voldemort from the harry potter movies LOL!!!!

  • he looks 10yrs younger than he really is

  • Loving the conveniently timed drum playing at like 2:02 when he starts talking about drums...

  • What a fuckin' geek.

  • I remember hearing Hangar 18 by Megadeth and I knew they were going to be my Favorite band for ever!!! Music is dope!

  • Sound check for Satch's drummer . . it stopped real quick once they realized it was being recorded . . .

  • Wow, I had the exact same experience when I pulled out Maiden's 'Powerslave' from my father's CD-rack and just played it.

The intro started and I just "transformed" into... I don't know... INTO music... or something.

It quite bizarre actually. But I'm glad it happened to me too.

  • His eyes are so trippy looking. I wish he didn't wear shades all the time.

  • Satch look fucking baked....

  • Comment removed

  • RANDY RHOADS!!!!!!!FOREVER.JOE IS COOLER THAN COOL

  • Oh, you have another 10 parts of the interview...

I know nobody can stop halfway!

  • How weird, that was how i felt the first moment i heard a Satriani song

  • sweet soul

  • why does he always wear that hat?????????

  • No joe..you are part of the most cool and amazing movement...THE 80IES SHRED MOVEMENT!! So fuck the 60ies and fuck grunge!!

  • an ugly fella but god damn hes talented

  • @dom0tron Good thing us heterosexuals don't judge men based on looks...

  • Hey Joe indeed you are an amazing musician but damn! thats a bad hat :P

  • Is satch a stoner?? Look at his eyes...I noticed he lookes like this quite often.

  • @maneatingtoilets rofl i was wondering the same exact thing from seein all of his pics, id say so

  • @maneatingtoilets why do you think he wears glasses haha

  • @maneatingtoilets Yes, he smokes pot, he's an evil person who needs to die (< the typical response from someone who is anti-pot) I am joking of course, I love Joe's music.

  • @maneatingtoilets no, I think he has that look about him, also with doing interviews on the road he's probably tired.

  • He always looks baked...which would be why he is always such a mellow guy.

  • Seems like there are alot of smart italians. Alot of success in business too. Are you listening, Glenn A.

  • he looks exactly like my friends moms boyfriend exept hes a huge creeper, joes hella chill i met him on the air plane home from vegas

  • what a lucky human being ! (still have & love his LP "flying in a blue dream ..)

  • 3 people didnt drink the magic elixir

  • Great!!!

  • i think satch liked jimi's music because of "hey joe" :P

  • @bamibalboy

although his name is joseph originally. :P

  • SEEING HIM LIVE DECEMBER 1, CENTER STAGE ATL, GA.

  • Satch is my all time guitar hero!!!!!

  • I cant believe that i was missing out on such a good musician!!!

  • What's truly beautiful is that we're still listening to the same music as you did, Joe...

  • Cool that he gives such a respect to Hendrix--my favorite rock guitarist. Joe would be second. First song I heard by him was "Flying in a Blue Dream"--it sounded so awesome I was permanently hooked on his music.

  • what was that song??

  • I seriously think he has leukemia or cancer or something.

  • Thats awesome he mentioned Zakk wylde. \m/

  • Its funny to hear him say that hearing Hendrix was a life changing experience for him because hearing HIM was a life changing experience for me!!!

  • "hearing Hendrix the first time changed my live forever..."

well yes i agree :-). i had the same experience.

  • How anyone could give this interview a thumbs down is beyond my comprehension...

  • Has he ever been to Australia???? If not, why not?

  • @bernyl1 He's been to Australia many times....both with G3 and on a solo tour at least once.

  • I discovered Joe Satriani in 1990 with Flying in a Blue Dream. That and Steve Vai's Passion and Warfare changed the direction of my musical tastes. I NEEDED those albums that year and they came into my life when things were really bad. Their music saved my life and sanity. Without this guy, there would be no Steve Vai as we know him today. Their art makes life more beautiful and hopeful.

  • Most music i've been growing up with is from the 80's. I nvr got to be in those years. And i'm not a fan of todays mainstream music.

  • I just finished watching the interviews of Joe Lynn Tyler and it was great! Now i'm watching Joe Satriani's interviews and they are really awesome! Thanks for posting! Great work! Greetings from Greece!

  • This dude taught my guitar teacher how to play. no joke. check him out. his name is john czakowski.

  • 3:53 to 4:07

Out of all those guys...i only knew Hendrix.

    :)

  • my name is jethro... and when he said jethro tull i was like "wow satriani just said my name!" i feel soooooo cool right now lmao

  • YAWN

  • I did the exact same thing hearing Hendrix for the first time when I was about 8. I heard puple haze and was like "WOW what the heck is that" and my uncle tossed on the album and said "thats Jimi Hendrix!" I then started playing guitar at age 13 and have never really put it down.

  • he looks high off his ass.

  • the combination of this guy's character and way of play are so unique

  • i dont know much about satriani and his music but he seems pretty fuckin smart and rad.. i wanna pick his brain about guitar; think evry guitarist/musician would want too.

  • jkjsaksjakjskajksajkajajsa

  • I feel that a god is speaking

  • what the heck is on his head?!

  • @moco635 You're never too sure with Satch.

  • @moco635 It looks like he took a pair of shorts from a groupie cut off one leg and wore it as a trophy!

But what a down to earth genuine nice guy! Love Joe, and he has the same birthday as me (only a few years difference!!! like 20 years!)

  • This is the first time I've seen Satch without sunglasses, lmao.

  • @JDstolemyvan me too lol

  • @JDstolemyvan He kinda looks like a tan version of POWDER. lol

  • Tell you what - what a nice guy!

  • I love you so much Satch you're so cool and amazing person plus a magical musician indeed !!!!

  • i cant believe he's 53.!! he looks like 35-40!!

  • the first time i heard steve vai i was mesmerized just like joe was when he heard hendrix. a few years later i hear joe for the first time and i was equally if not more mesmerized. both steve and joe taught me more about myself through listening to thier music than i knew. it was just so cool to hear them and think yeah i wanna make beautiful music too. with any luck one day i will.

  • @cyllocybin Joe mentions this Hendrix song but doesn't say which one. Do you happen to know?

  • @Beat7TV the hendrix song that first inspired him was "the wind cries mary." he said it in some other series of interviews, i dont remember which (sorry)

  • @Beat7TV the wind cries mary inspired joe sorry someone else beat me to it

  • Now we know why satch always wears the shades, hyuck hyuck.

  • yea anytime you have all that he had in your family you are bound to get somewhere

  • Holy crap, give that man some Iodine!

  • Very nice.

  • Jazz family, piano player mother, born in the 60's along british invasion and Hendrix. This guy was born to be a guitar player, dude, wtf... LOL

  • i met him at the airport on the way home from namm, hes pretty chill

  • The list is weird because Joe Satriani born 1956, Eric Johnson born 1954, Randy Rhoads born 1956, Eddie Van Halen born 1955, and Zakk Wylde born 1967? He's definitely from a different era.

  • Why not mention Uli Roth and Michael Schenker?

  • whoever was pounding on the drums in the back round needs to be put to rest....forever.

  • It was Joe's drummer Jeff Campitelli's sound check . . . probably his drum tech . . .

  • @LivingLegendsMusic

Did he not know the interview was happening at the time? Still an awesome interview though, cheers for uploading all the parts mate.

  • @LivingLegendsMusic He still should be beaten severely. I hope he gets cancer of the nuts and they rot off.

  • I F'ing love satch he's my favorite guitarist. and lately i've been tryin to write satchesque type stuff, but heres my problem i've listened to surfing with the alien to prof. satchafunkilus but i have a severe case of writers block. any suggestions?

  • Don't feel compelled to write Satrani-like stuff... take in music and then see what comes out of yourself

  • i am angry that he is not in the "100 best guitar players of all times " list from the rolling stone magazin

  • yes however he did teach a few of the people on that list :)

  • and he reinvented the genre "instrumental rock album"

  • why isn't he in it? He's only like on the top 3 of this time, though it's just my personal opinion

  • @nmkalen

Talk about that list, I fking hate it. Randy Rhoads is 85, and Joe's not even on it.

  • Eddie was pretty far down the list too.

  • @flashmega The best guitarist ever was not on it either.....Allan Holdsworth

  • yeah that list is whack!!!

  • Rolling Stones lists are always stupid.

  • @nmkalen no way

  • This guy has some major wicked eyes. Wonderful guitar player. Big inspiration to me.

  • Joe Satriani is the greatest guitarist since randy rhoades. I thank him for his inspiration. music doesn't have to have words to have meaning

  • The only thing keeping Keith Richards together is Alcohol and cigarettes... its the tar and nicotine acting as a solvent keeping his body immediately turning to dust!

  • wtf he looks like my old math teacher wtf

  • One of the coolest human beings in history

  • he seems to be a really good person, not like other stupid posers like malmsteem that are all the time like: im a star, fuck you.

  • Dude I saw him wearing a GnR t-shirt, and this was recently, I mean Slash sounds great but he couldnt even tune Satch's guitar...and Satch wears the t-shirt becouse he digs the music... no ego just a musician acknoledging anothers style...

  • I'm sorry, but that last sentence you wrote was utterly stupid.

  • magic elixir = LSD

  • hang on, he's 53? he look like he's in his 40's

  • Guitar keeps you young ;) Just look at kiddie fiddler Pete Townsend, the guys looks pretty young considering hes practically an antique

  • but what about keith richards hahaha

  • lol wut

  • he isn't dead...

  • hes not dead o_O

  • Man, it be good to get an mp3 of this whole interview...listen to it on Ipod.

  • WE ALL LOVE JOE SATRIANI !!!

  • that is an awesome hat

  • Joe satriani actually talks! ha ha ha :)

  • ive never seen his eyes before lol!

  • I understand this guy! Finally a teacher who speaks the way I think!

  • now you can understand why steve vai so good

  • Because he was taught by Satch,I think.

  • Hendrix was a first, that can never be taken away, no matter who u r or where in time the range and colors of electric guitar were expanded with him, so even if u dont like the tunes what u play in rock has origins with him, chuck berry, vanhalen, clapton etc

  • see, he says hendrix is an influence, personally i cannot stand hendrix ... i think i may be the only person who thinks that lol ... but satch zakk and vai all them sorta guitarists are my influence ... i spose therefore i owe hendrix a lot

  • no i agree but i do respect him but i dont like most off his songs

  • I hate that all the good music is dying. Not the music is dying, but the artists. AC/DC, Zepellin, Satriani etc.etc, good true rock n roll, they are all in there 60;s :( im glad AC/DC is doing one last tour even though they are in their 60's or around there, but its sad to think they are done for good after this :(

  • thats why you have to not think about the end of that music, artist or band and think about what they left musically .... music doesnt die

  • WOW SATRIANI IS 53!!!

  • That last comment proved what Hendrix said all along. Though I'm no where close to Satch's playing, it happened to me the exact same way.

The first time I heard Hendrix, something just happened and opened me up and i'm one yr younger than Satch.

Hendrix said they played loud because they wanted their music to go into the soul of a person instead of just the ears. That is SO true. That's why i said i don't think there'll ever be a person as connect to an instrument as JH was.

  • Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Randy Rhoads are my 3 favourite guitar players.

  • I love how he mentions Randy - that is the coolest thing ever!!!

  • he's a great guitar player! thats all i can say!

  • whats going on in the background? wtf?!!

  • Sound check

  • It's like all these great Guitar Heroes have such Musical families. I mean my parents support me and they like my playing, but we ae not musical at all. My dad is good with home recording though, so that's cool. Him, Vai, Yngwie's family is chock full of musicians, including his kids.

  • It has to start somewhere doesn't it ??? :) ;) Keep it going.

  • lol - i like that!

  • He looks great for 53

  • holy fuck he was born in 1956, i thought he was like 23 years old

  • Bruce Lee of rock philosophy. The greatest living guitarist. Joe...Rock On.....

  • I've just watched all of these interviews.

An incredible musician with genuine humility, and who talks some of the most down to earth sense and earned wisdom. Rock on.

  • awesome interview. The man and his music is a big inspiration!

  • A CLASS ACT!!!! Great musician and person!!!

  • Brilliant musician and a true gentleman!

  • satch is the man, the legend

  • Great musician and personality!

  • Does Joe got own kids?

  • ya hes got one son i know, im not sure if hes got more...

  • His son is called ZZ.

  • somg. now i realize somethin- on the crystal planet album theres a

    zzs song

  • If you mean Big Bad Moon that's NOT a ZZ Top song.

  • when again did i say that satriani did any zztop?

  • Sorry, sorry. Wrong video. xD

    Peace, love, all that jazz.

    ~Jay

  • holy shit he was born in 56'!

    he's 53! holy balls.

  • I remember hearing little wing for the first time and just not believing one person with one guitar could make those sounds.

  • hell fuckin ya

  • how old is he?

  • 50 something i think 58

  • He's 52 - learn to count, mister :-D

  • simple maths

  • 52 or 53

  • Zakk and Randy :D

  • Man, i love JS, but that hat has got to go.

  • seems like such a down to earth guy
