Hexen, Merciless Death, Violator, Gama Bomb, Warbringer, Skeletonwitch (blackend thrash) are all pretty good, with Bonded by Blood, Toxic Holocaust, Municipal Waste, and Evile being more like the second stringers of modern thrash. Fueled by Fire's good in a corny way too.
All holdin it down. Fuck the bay area old timers that wanna hear shitty stale ass lyrics about satan. We're atheist and we wanna party and break shit not talk about religion
@pconley22 I've heard so many of them. Testament and Exodus are the only bay area bands I'm into. I'm more of a Nuclear Assault and Anthrax fan, I think they were both east coast not that it means anything. I guess it's shows a contrast in style though. East Coast drew a lot from the thriving hardcore punk scene and west coast had more hair metal and NWOBHM influence.
I personally would have put Evile as number 1 on this list, but this was great none the less. Perfect choice for a Municipal Waste song btw...SADISTIC...MAGICIAN!
This new wave has become a mixed bag for me. One one hand, we have Warbringer, Evile, Havok, and company who are producing music that can outlive this current revival. On the other we have a ton of bands whose sole purpose is to remind the world that they are "THRASH" and to "KILL ALL POSERS" and all that other high school shit.
...Then again, Warbringer, Evile, and Havok are all I need.
@glitchedgamer EXACTLY!!!! you read my thoughts! and havok, warbringer and evile are BY FAR the best new thrash bands. Lazarus A.D is also really good.
hey do u have to put the disclaimer so they dont take it down. cuz i dont have one and for sure didnt create the songs naw mean. someone get back at me.
Old thrash is better because bands Evile write about decapitation for the sake of it... And Sepultura writ about decapitation because it was happening all around them in the streets of Belo Hoeizonte, Brazil... WORD!
if these bands would have been around in the 80`s no one would even know them. heard all those riffs before. none is trying to sound differnt. i only respect Lazarus A.D. for incorporating modern influences instead of beeing Nuclear Assault wannabes.and most of these bands are all about party instead of those anti-war lyrics of the old bands. sorry but old thrash is dead. when i want new stuff i listen to pantera, machine head and other awesome stuff.that what thrash in 2011 sounds like
I think the people that think that these new thrash bands suck, obviously never heard the more underground and raw sound of it. Most of these new bands are of the more crossover and even Teutonic variety and not like the Bay area sound. Most of them are great too, Toxic Holocaust, Cross Exam, Waste, Diamond Plate, Warbringer are all kickass
Hmm no one seems to mention Hexen really. I think they're the best new thrash band. I can listen to their cd State of Insurgency all day. Also, their album art was done by the one and only Ed Repka
@iHateCrappyMusic Fuck yeah man, second only to Vektor for me. Evil Army kick serious ass too. Plus Warpath, Suicidal Angels, Exmortus, Diamond Plate, Mutant etc. But yeh, I fucking love Hexen, you should listen to their demos/EP's too if you havent, the song Heal a Million... is amazing. You might wanna check out "Abadden" too. Not as good as Hexen, but they are very good and from the same town as me, so just trying to support em haha.
@Hughesy16LFC haha thanks for the suggestions. I still have a lot more albums to buy. The only bands to come out of my area that I know of are Alien Ant Farm and Suicide Silence. No thrash at all. That sucks
Violator sounds really old school to me. And we all know, deep within our hearts, that the 80's was the golden era for thrash metal, and will always be!
Everyone!!! Please check out a new wave thrash band called Diamond Plate!!!!! Their debut album comes out in august. They pretty much started the chicago thrash scene and they are barely 20 yrs old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@thrashinallaround356 Listen to this man, Diamond Plate are one of the best new thrash bands and in my home of Chicago as well. All the members are cool and their music kicks ass. Ive even seen them in a basement full of ppl before and it was insanely awsome
What I love about Thrash Metal is that they aren't all serious cunts like most metal bands these days. They know how to have a good time and aren't afraid to fucking smile in their pictures.
Witchaven and Trenchhell are the best so far, Evile is fucking overrated, Toxic Holocaust = fucking boring and unoriginal... Violator = even more unoriginal.

*sigh* well thrash came back but then took off again, theres not gunnu be thrash metal in 2011, let alone like 1 2010 thrash metal album from all these bands put together.
Evile is my choice of the best of the new school. Enter The Grace was clever and fast and IN was progressive and thrash which reminded of AJFA... Gama Bomb is sick also.
I'm sick of people whining about the new trash not being as good as the old thrash. At least they're trying to make thrash! Idk if anyone noticed but it's been dead out of mainstream over 20 years! This is why! We can't create a united front. I'm just glad there are people willing to celebrate metal and keep trying.
Gamma Bomb is Enormous good Trash BAnd,Clean Power Chords,Clean Riffs,These Guy,s knows to use their Metal Weapons good as possible,i think....!
i like the intrumental SOuns of Trash ...but the most Lead SInger are Wag....the only good one is Gulsch Face Dave Mustaine ,his Voice is alson terrible....but not so much like the others !
i think warbringer should be at least in the top 2.but yeah municiple waste is one of the best up there but for true thrash w/ their own sound would b warbringer.municiple is too but they actually consider themselves hardcore/punk but in my eyes their metal
Fuck i don't get how people can listen to a lot of new wave of thrash, Municipal Waste is the only kinda interesting one, and they are crossover. None of the bands suck they all just sound the same, its all super fast with drumming at double time. Listen to the vocal rhythms, most of them are the same, all the songs go in pretty much the same direction and there is NO melody. Its like awesome thrash riff for a while, then a different one back to the first.
I know this is gonna either get bashed or backed like all hell, but... In my opinion Warbringer should be WAY higher, along with EVILE. Then again this video was posted before "Waking Into Nightmares" was released so... Still a good list \m/ \m/
Come on guys dont talk shit bout these new bands.. they cant sound like the old stuff.. technology is upgrading constantly.. quility is higher.. yea they arnt the same like in the golden days but we shuld take what we have an be great there are decent sounding bands out there..
What we want is more fucking THRASH METAL! Not these JOKE CROSSOVER bands like "Cross Examination", "SSS", "Toxic Holocaust", "Gama Bomb" and "Municipal Waste". There is 5 good/OK bands in that list though. Some of my faves Evile Havok Warpath Tyrant Hexen Diamond Plate Lich King Fueled By Fire Arkayic Revolt Nuclear
AWESOME LIST DUDE. would of put Evile closer to 1 but hey, alls good! we have yet more new school thrash bands people haven't heard yet. The Latest to come out of the uk is ABADDEN! fuckin check it! (sentenced to death) is the debut album and it's on frigen YOUTUBE!.........What have you got too loose??
10. Cheesy name, even cheesier vocals. The music is pretty rocking though.
9. Death metal-ly tremolo, but they kind of come off as one of those SoCal hardcore bands on Epitaph from the mid 90s. It's good to see DRI has a lasting legacy!
8. Toxic Holocaust sounds like a classic thrash name. The sound is also classic speed/thrash metal. However, the vocals sound black metal and the look is totally mall punk. We need more metal!
7. Is this thrash? It sounds more Swedish Black/Death metal.
6. They have a Slayer-like sound, which is really cool.
5. Very thrash! Cool sound.
4. Sound more like a thrashy hardcore band than a thrash metal band. However, it could have more to do with the material they have with this tune in particular. Maybe their original material is more metal.
3. Very interesting sound to these dudes. Have a sound that must rule live!
2. The name would suck even if spelled right. However, what's in a name? Their sound is kinda blah.
1. The name sounds like one of those NYC hardcore bands that discovered Anthrax and went metal in the late 80s. Their music sounds like a hardcore band that discovered Anthrax and went metal in the late 00s. It's all good, though. They have a fun abrasive sound that totally rocks.
Ever wanted to see a live action version of the thrash metal bands a-z concept that doesn't suck and includes great obscure acts such as Mezzrow, Intruder, Gothic Slam, and Watchtower? LOOK NO FURTHER! I have finally after two months completed a live action thrash metal a-z compilation series five videos long! Please drop by and check it out, you will not be disapointed!
I was gonna watch this video without being logged in and I noticed you have to be 18 or older to watch this video. Looks like Youtube knows that Thrash is gonna kill all this queer RnB and emo bullshit. And if all those shitty "bands" get killed they won't make any money.
@Thrash469 Holy shit! dude... I just checked Lazarus A.D. They are fucking amazing, I had never heard of them until I read your comment. Thanks man, they fuckin rock. They should be at least in the top 3 of this list.
Aww HELLZ YEAH... It is so nice to see people reminding me of the roots of thrash. Amazing... I can hear alot of the underground 80's in these guys, and don't forget the Slayer influence...
@FailtalityOrDie lol idk why i wrote that, they didnt "go to hell" after AJFA they just switched things up. Which was good in my opinion. And back in the 80's they were the Kings of thrash, so dont disrespect metallica or else justin beiber will hurt you. Snoop doggy dogg is blazing as we speak...
-.- pathetic. Metallica didn't "change things up", they sold out. And fuck off with your talk of Justina Beiber. And as for them being the "kings of thrash", you can thank Mr.Mustaine for teaching James how to play thrash, and James teaching Kirk to suck and cheat his solos live. Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth will always be better than Metallica. Always. End of fucking story.
Can someone please explain to me whats so great about Toxic Holocaust? Anyway, heres mine: 1. Violator 2. Municipal Waste 3. Warbringer 4. Evile 5. Mantic Ritual 6. Bonded by Blood 7. Warpath 8. Gama Bomb 9. Abadden 10. Dekapitator Honourable mentions: Lazarus AD, Fastkill, Fueled by Fire
my top: 1- Violator 2- Warbringer 3- Avenger of Blood 4- Toxic Holocaust 5- Gama Bomb 6- Evile 7- Municipal waste (actually i think that it´s major crossover) 8-Fueled by Fire 9- Bonded by Blood 10- SSS
REAL THRASH HAD A MEANING, an inspiration, it was serious, it had intelectuality. It was a FIST in the face of society. They didn't give a fuck if they were thrash or no, they just write good music.
" NWOTM " is a CARTOON of all the stereotipes of thrash. They inspiration is to play thrash, rather than writing interesting music.
I didn't remember "Megadeth" (for example) writing lyrics about NINTENDO, ZOMBIES, PARTY, THRASH, MOSH. That's just plain STUPID, it's childish.
@rudisimo666 i agree. they should write about "something". i mean, it's always good to write 1, 2, 3 or whatever songs about "nothing" just as an excuse to just thrash, but you cant do it with all your songs.
Ignorant. Many of the bands that revived the genre is either a tribute to that or they were there back then. Either way, maybe you should read up on your Exodus and Tankard for example. They were about having a good time, just like you say it's not about. True, there were great proggy thrash, but that does equalize the genre as a whole.
Do I prefer the old school? Hell yeah. Do I think your comment was uncalled for and stupid, since the new wave is great too? Maybe even more so.
@rudisimo666 Yh your right but c'mon metal doesnt always have to be serious and its good for bands to have their own style and give us different themes/lyrics

8. Toxic Holocaust sounds like a classic thrash name. The sound is also classic speed/thrash metal. However, the vocals sound black metal and the look is totally mall punk. We need more metal!
7. Is this thrash? It sounds more Swedish Black/Death metal.
JackOfferlott 1 year ago
JackOfferlott 1 year ago
1. The name sounds like one of those NYC hardcore bands that discovered Anthrax and went metal in the late 80s. Their music sounds like a hardcore band that discovered Anthrax and went metal in the late 00s. It's all good, though. They have a fun abrasive sound that totally rocks.

I was gonna watch this video without being logged in and I noticed you have to be 18 or older to watch this video. Looks like Youtube knows that Thrash is gonna kill all this queer RnB and emo bullshit. And if all those shitty "bands" get killed they won't make any money.

WHERES METALLICA
T12AV1S 1 year ago
@T12AV1S
1) NEW thrash metal
2) After ...And Justice, Metallica went to hell
3) They don't deserve to be called thrash
FailtalityOrDie 1 year ago
@FailtalityOrDie lol idk why i wrote that, they didnt "go to hell" after AJFA they just switched things up. Which was good in my opinion. And back in the 80's they were the Kings of thrash, so dont disrespect metallica or else justin beiber will hurt you. Snoop doggy dogg is blazing as we speak...
T12AV1S 1 year ago
@T12AV1S

Where the hell is Eliminator on this list?
They should be #1.
They released their first album in 2008 and their best song is The Punisher. The Punisher is a fucking insane song!

jimmy56100 1 year ago
REAL THRASH HAD A MEANING, an inspiration, it was serious, it had intelectuality. It was a FIST in the face of society. They didn't give a fuck if they were thrash or no, they just write good music.
" NWOTM " is a CARTOON of all the stereotipes of thrash. They inspiration is to play thrash, rather than writing interesting music.
I didn't remember "Megadeth" (for example) writing lyrics about NINTENDO, ZOMBIES, PARTY, THRASH, MOSH. That's just plain STUPID, it's childish.
rudisimo666 1 year ago 2
@rudisimo666 i agree. they should write about "something". i mean, it's always good to write 1, 2, 3 or whatever songs about "nothing" just as an excuse to just thrash, but you cant do it with all your songs.
xurxo12 1 year ago
@rudisimo666
Bumzoni 1 year ago
@rudisimo666 Yh your right but c'mon metal doesnt always have to be serious and its good for bands to have their own style and give us different themes/lyrics
Hughesy16LFC 1 year ago
@rudisimo666
But i do remember Anthrax and Exodus writing about being Caught in Moshes and a Toxic Waltz... >.>
