You should make a new one of these videos if you could with the people who've died recently, for instance my best friend James Henry who died in 2011 because of a drunk driver... I miss him so much and it would mean everything to me if somebody made a video with him in it.... I don't mean to bother you, I'm just saying...
I HATE drunk drivers!! My mother was ALMOST killed in her LIVING ROOM by a drunk driver when I was 4 my sister was 9... I lived in a house by a main road on a hill.. I was sleeping.. all of a sudden I here a really loud noise and my moms bf screaming at somebody.. i go down stairs and look out side.. there was a vechiel on my porch.. my moms Bf ripped the guy out of his car and i think broke his nose.. I'm thankful my mom came to check on my sister and I instead of staying in the living room!!!
I live in missouri and they did this song in a drunk driving lesson at my high school because in Drexel 2 high school football players died in a crash and my names joey so this song caught my attention
I lost my boyfriend of 3 years bc he drove drunk. I cannot image the pain of innocent victims and the families BUT I am quite offended. The drunk drivers have families, they have people that love them, and care for them and have tried their best to help them. It offends me you seem to belittle the loss of the drunk driver. The decision is STUPID to drive drunk, it ruins lives but they are still people. I am angry at Kevin but I still love him with all my heart even though he made a poor choice.
I totally disagree with drunk driving, so don't take this statement wrong... But, this song is not about Joey being an "idiot" this song is about someone making an incorrectable mistake and her regretting that she didn't take action and change it.
Not that I don't agree with the motive, but the song is about her guilt for the drunk driver, not her guilt for the victim. So ... good video, but perhaps a bit of a mitmatched tune?
@ChereneK Wow!! Thank you for your opinion and comments. As with every song it is up to how each individual interprets the song. I see it as a great song that shows someone making an incorrectable mistake and regretting that they didn't take action and change it. I think the "tune" works well as did many others. Thanks again for being one of the 45,000 views!!
@ChereneK I could not agree more. I lost my boyfriend of 3 years due to his drunk driving. He killed himself and his friend. My world crashed down around me, this song represents how I felt. I wanted to change his decision and I wanted to change what happened. This song is not about "idiots" and the victims it is a song about the drunk driver, one which is truly meaningful to me.
Please DON'T drink and drive! No matter how well you think you drive, or how sober you feel...remember, there are babies in those cars! Give them a chance to reach their adulthood, don't cheat my children because you wanted to hang out in a bar and drink a few with your friends! BE RESPONSIBLE!
That documentary "What's Wrong with Aunt Diane" was just awful. To think that innocent people are killed because of 1 persons mistake is just too awful for words to describe.
RIP all those killed because someone decided to be stupid.
im a 12 year pld girl from southern missouri and the town i lived in was small but eventhough it was small we had a lot of drunk diving accedents im kinda oung and ive seen too many it should be stoped like if u think so to
@benzmovie1 Please use the video at local schools. That was my hope when I made it to show it to as many as possible. You must have children as I do, and my #1 worry is their safety while in the car. Please stay in touch and let me know how it goes over with the students you show it to. Thanks!
For Holly, though you may never walk again on this Earth, I know you will run free in heaven, I hope by the time you get there, no one else is in wheelchairs because of drunk drivers. <3 :'(
i don't know why but this song reminds me of something that has nothing to do with death. it reminds me of a girl from 2 summers ago. i would sleep over at her house and when we'd wake up she'd turn on the country station and this song would come on every morning like clockwork. we stopped seeing each other a while after that but every time i hear joey it reminds me of her. she was sweet, sometimes it just doesn't work out though.
I have lost few people in my life but i still feel just like this song ...and i listen to i and cry but i cant not listen ...thank you for this beatiful song....god bless you...
i started bawling when i saw Nick Adenhart, i remember the last game i watched at the stadium he was in before the incident. i still cant believe it. and it sucks because at school all i hear is people getting excited to drink and joke around about driving and all that stuff. its sad how these people are so excited. its people like that who are such idiotic stupid shits, that drink and drive. cant they realize what it does..
This is exactly why I made the video. Many people don't think about the long term affects of their actions. It is nothing to joke or laugh about. Spread the word at school and have as many people watch it as you can. Thanks!
Thanks for posting. Only problem is someone may see this & think oh, what a terrible thing to have happen to someone & next week he or she will be out drinking, get drunk, forget the video & drive drunk. This is a good idea but roadblocks on holidays help & just catching as many drunk drivers as can be will finally get the message through. We can only hope.
Great compilation, sad but true & needs to smack some people upside the head so maybe, just maybe, they don't drive when even "just a little" tipsy. You can't erase the memories and no length of jail time will ever free you from what you did.
@KellyHettwer Hi. I am SO sorry for your loss. I cant imagine going through that kind of pain. I shared this video on my facebook page in a hope that it will prevent even ONE person from driving drunk. My husbands a tow driver and has had to clean up from a DUI accident more times than he can remember and its not a pretty sight. I added on the share "that one decision to drink & drive can change someones life forever!" Its SO true!
my friends mom was killed by a drunk driver 2 years ago when we were in fifth grade.. it tore us all up... bad im am glad tht the guy was sentenced to life in jail justice has been served and he got what he deserved R.I.P Carrie Ann Nave
I remember hearing about Nick Adenhart on the news. Being an Angels fan, I was fucking pissed to hear about it. I sure as shit hope the guy who caused that accident can't sleep a single night, and whenever he does close his eyes, all he sees is Adenhart's face. I hope all of the drunken fucks who kill someone see that someone's face in their sleep, additionally I hope they can hear those people last screams for help while they're sitting in their rooms and jailcells....
Nick's death was terrible and one of the major reasons why I put this video together. He never should have died! I hope you enjoyed it and hopefully more and more people watch and think twice before getting into a car drunk...or allowing someone they know to make that mistake.
I am a great fan of Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde) and love her song of Joey, which is a different song but is kind of ironic because I believe her career as a performer has been diminished by the use of drugs or alcohol. Sugarland's 'Joey' is such a moving & beautiful song. I hope a lot of young people listen to it. About 20 yrs ago my 16 year old son died in a car accident. I still miss him very much.
It angers me so much that when someone is a friggin idiot who decideds it's alright for them to drink then drive and they hit someone they always seem to survive while the innocent person who was obeying the law by not drinking and driving loses their life, how is this fair. I have stopped being friends with someone because they continued to drink and drive saying it was no big deal, that was until I called the cops on him and he got arrested. Better that then him kill someone.
He was one of the many that I found on the web while looking for victims. I'm proud to have his picture in this video. How did you know him and tell us about his story if you don't mind. Thank you.
i love this video and i love this song!!...i do drink but i DONT drive if i even had just 1 drink.....i couldnt live with myself if i hurt or killed another human being...i love u sugarland for doing this song and all ur others of course....lol..big sugarland fan i am
@yayo13x - from everything i can find, including an interview with sugarland themselves about the song, there is no REAL teenager named joey, who died in a drunk driving accident. Joey is just a name they chose, and serves more of a filler for any name, from anyone........who might of lost someone in a drunk driving situation.
I've never lost anyone to a drunk driver, but this video made me cry anyways, because it is so sad that some family lost there loved one because someone was not thinking and being careless and heartless. God bless all those familys and R.I.P to all the ones losts.
that was a great video there are many people that drive or has driven drunk im one of them but i turned it around when i started thinking abiut my two little kids i didnt want it to happen to them or anyone so if we stick together we can make this work dont give up hope.... GOD BLESS
Love the video. It brought tears to my eyes. Thinking about Jimmy Doe Focker, killed about a month ago. My best friend. I love and miss you Jimmy. RIP.
:( march 28th 2009, joeeee we miss you. i love you, please save these tears from running down my face</3 this is terrible i want you back along with everyone, even the whole aquinas family, this is such a mistake. i miss you<3
Thank you so much for making this video. My cousin was killed dec. 15 2007 by a drunk driver and it left her two little babies motherless. This is such a great video that you did. With the most respect to you and your time doing this. Thank you again.
I guess that drives the message home.
