I can understand fans displeasure at seeing a look that downgrades the amount of terror they are supposed to feel and that they look like action figures then containment suits. Everyone is going on about how they hate the design of the new daleks, and I have to admit, I don't really like them either. But I just realised they looked a lot better in the series finale due the real design error in this episode which was the set for the Dalek spaceship, it looks so shabby and cheap compared to previous episodes, in one shot you can see an air vent in the ceiling! I reckon if the set was better here, the Daleks would look less silly.

For instance, back in the 70s they allied themselves with the Master so that they could use him to help cause a war between Earth and a planet called Draconia. The only reason they refused to ally themselves with the Cybermen in Doomsday, was because they simply didn't need them. Similarly, they needed to be part of the alliance to capture the Doctor and ensure the continued survival of the Daleks.

The Daleks have always changed slightly since they fist began - but this was their biggest change. I think given time it will be fine. The colour scheme will again take time - as originally the daleks were supposed to be like this before getting set in set colours ie black, gre, white, bronze etc. I will give them a chance!
