  • @baseball6619 If a person steps on the trap all that will happen is the trap will spring and the guys wont catch anything

  • I love trapping

  • Wat would happen if a person steped into it?

  • Comment removed

  • Nice job. and nice set dude! I hope that i can get a fox this year!

  • I swear as soon as the guy said low battery my screen went dark from not touching any keys or my mouse and i thought my laptop ran out of batteries lol

  • Did you find out what was going on?

  • Did you get any thing out of that set

  • we keep getting snares that have the famous coy circle and then empty snares, but we figure someone is thieveing out traps using a club or bat to kill em so there isn't blood, set night vision trail cams today so we'll see.

  • To all of you bunny huggers... Oh yes that nice tender steak from longhorn you eat those but its not crule to make a cow live in a crate where it cant even stand up for its short life so it will be tender keep in mind the anumals we hunt or trap live free go wherever they want whenever they want and the majourity die of natural causes so now explain how thats crule you are just ignorent and cant understand how humane hunting and trapping is compared to how the food you eat at mcdonalds is kill

  • I'm in school for wildlife science. Penn State.

  • Nice video Jake, and don't argue back guys, we won't change their minds and they won't change ours

  • where do you get those buck wheat hulls?

  • that just evil levae the coyote and the foxs alone

  • @bettleking509 If you leave them alone, their population grows too large, they begin developing disease and depleting their natural recourses, and then you have an overall unhealthy fox and coyote population. It's your choice I suppose; either these guys stop hunting like humans have been doing for thousands of centuries, or the animals overpopulate and just hurt themselves. Your call.

  • @bettleking509 boo hoo cry bout it why dont ya

  • will they live after the trap ??

  • Damn did tht take u long enough? Good set up tho

  • Did you trap anything in this set?

  • why do you use lure?

  • Question why do you want to trap a coyote?

  • @WolfGirl002 Coyote trapping is for harvesting pelts, or fur. It's also a method of population control as the coyote population has boomed throughout the United States and have become overpopulated due to lack of predators and competition.

  • @WolfGirl002 they kill cattle , we have alot around here coyotes and cattle dont mix very well

  • do i need to use buck wheat hulls??

  • @savageARMS17 you do not have to

  • won't the coyote just chew it's leg off?

  • @Pockets1989 no that is a lie feed to you by anti trappers and hunters to try and make trapping out to be something that it isnt

  • @dkblazy excellent that is good to know thanks for the info

  • how heavy do u set the pan pressure for coyotes and fox

  • @quader456497 it should be about 3-4 lbs

  • @quader456497 it should be about 3-4 lbs

  • good job man i really like this vidoe im learning to trap right now.. keep it up and make more videos if you want too. i'll watch them

  • Someone needs to dig a punji pit on that road and kill these trappers.

  • @1234Molotov question whats wrong with you im really concerned !

  • hey man good trap set i live in lower mich the thumb area and currently have a few fox sets out .today one pissed on my trap i was very suprised i dindt get it

  • To all the Antis. And I quote God on this. "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them RULE over the fish in the sea and the birds in the air, over the livestock, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Genesis 1:26

    NIV version

That means we are to keep them in check

  • @zzbunch That does NOT mean killing them

  • What happens when you trap the wrong animals?

  • @LordDigz12 the 3 S's 1 shoot 2 shovel 3 shut up

  • So what is the point of trapping coyote and fox? Are they hurting you some how or do you just feel the need to cause something to suffer?

  • @AngelBecca29 they kill cows deer turkeys and what not, they can attack kids, get rabies, they can just be a pest and they need to be controlled some

  • @AngelBecca29 fur harvest is the point, dummy. that is why there are white people in america. the land was found to be rich in FUR. a very valuable renewable resource. fur was the first american industry and remained the largest industry for quite some time. of course there are many other positives to harvesting this coyote which have already been mentioned. as that fella said, they need to be controlled some.

  • @AngelBecca29 yes they hurt us ! they kidnap/kill children harm our cattle to ! get a life !

  • I love foxes more than the average person but if this guy is doing it according to fish and game laws no one should have a problem

  • I just completed the trapper course yesterday, and you are on the mark!

  • You will burn in Hell for not loving Gods little critters.

  • @mythic89

"You will burn in Hell for not loving Gods little critters." ~ mythic89

Ah sh!t... does that mean we're going to be neighbors?!

Personally I have my doubts; only liberal idiots go to hell. (do you really think God would want to listen to an ignorant, sanctimonious, know-it-all, wind blowing ass-head forever?)

  • Shut up you stupid Bitch Trapping is cruel and you are a dumbass I'll put my foot in your ass.

  • @mythic89 Sop embarrassing yourself, you fucking moron. You are showing the whole world what an ignorant fuck you are by speaking about things you have no clue about. LEARN something and then open your mouth, so you don't look so fucking stupid

  • @Scrap5000 last time i checked every anti hunter and anti trapper make themselves sound ignorant

  • @mythic89 Animals are a renewable resource, Have you ever seen an entire canine population disappear from mange or distemper? Have you ever seen them scratch themselves to death while their faces crack and bleed? Have you ever seen them walk around for weeks with little to no hair in the winter time only to lay down and starve to death? Shame on you bunny huggers for wanting these animals to die so painfully when trapping is more humane than ever. Wake up and see how brutal mother nature is

  • you complain about trapping fox or coytoes then ur a dumbass coyotes are taking out the deer population anyway and trapping is not even torture dumb ass tree huggers

  • Trapping will be banned soon we are working hard to stop people from hurting Gods innocent creatures you all will burn in Hell for your torture and cruelty to these helpless animals.

  • @mythic89 you seem to be a bit ignorant, let me help educate you instead of screaming, ranting, or name calling. Increased agriculture means increased water, increased coyotes, decreased rabbits, decreased kit fox (on the utah sensitive species list), decreased bobcat (they're main food supply is rabbit), the only natural predators I can think of for the coyote are alligators, cougars, wolves, and humans, that leaves just cougars and humans here in utah. what would you suggest we do?

  • @mythic89 dude what the crap ! we are controlling the population do you like the yotes being overpopulated where they have to fight over food because theres too many of them hmmm . o wait let me put it in words you can understand : we help coyotes we not harm

  • Fuck off Hammertoes why would anyone want to kill all Disney's precious creatures you beast.

  • Man trapping theses animals is cruel and inhumane and unnecessary I hope someone traps you asshole.

  • @mythic89 shut up

  • dang i think i got one of these in my trap.. i was aiming for ground hog went back the next day and no trap or steak

  • @survivalairgunner there is a good chance it could have been a fox or yote

  • @deerehunter03 do you have to have a trapping license to trap fox

  • @survivalairgunner You made me hungry when you said groundhog.

  • Do you hang up the furs if you do I need some help

    Thx

  • @0605dustin Ya i han them up ask away

  • i just got some new trap how should i take the oil off so it will not smell and rust up

  • boil them it will get the oil off. just pour the water outbefore taking the traps out or you re-coat them

  • @0605dustin when I get my traps brand new, I take em to the car wash, the tire and engine wash does wonders, then I'll spray em down with vinegar, and let em sit on the grass until the just barely start to rust, if you don't let the thin layer of red rust begin to form the traps will not turn completely black when you dye them. be sure to wax em too, it will speed them up, you'll have less pull out and toe catches

  • @0605dustin you can also put them through the dishwasher

  • man thats a good set i will be making videos hopefully this fall

  • good observation happersilderness

  • how big a stake do u use for coyote

  • @grizzlywintergreen96 use 2 - 24 in rebar cross staked or one 15 in cable stake

  • are land sets with conibears legel in Tennesee

  • @shooterb12 that i dont know. the DNR website should have it on there

  • Why would you trap fox? Can't believe people still trap animals for torture.

  • @TheBrassHole its not tourture asshole its a living....fur traders trap so they dont shoot it and ruin the fur

  • It's torture. The "living" part of your comment is the excuse part.

  • @TheBrassHole its not torture dumbass its a living its people keeping the past alive

  • nice vid....in my dirt hole set my bait is gone every time and footprints are just missing the pan any idea what im doin wrong

  • i would say that you might want to pay attention where you're setting the traps compared to your dirthole, the hole should aim out directly over the trap and the trap should be about 10" in front, also make sure ur using a backing and i personally use a few sticks laid around the trap to kind of guide their foot into it, they wont want to step on the sticks so they'll step in the pan. hope that helps

  • thanks straub.. ive done every thing you said except ill have to move my trap back cause its only like 5in away

  • And pay attention on the wind direction. The wind must blow over the back of the hole, so the smell will flow over your trap.

  • yea really nice job !

  • good job on the set

  • good one guys, thanks for posting!

  • hey i live in ohio too, mercer county....todd beckmen is from my town

  • Are those traps inhumane?

  • i have had my hand caught in them several times and still hae all my fingers. these have a gap inbetwen the jaws to allow circulation to the pad so the animal still has feeling in the paw. i have released several family pets out of traps and they run away without a limp

  • how much can you get from pelts?

    what species can you sell?

and where do you sell them at?

  • @deerehunter03 did u find any thing in that trap the next day

  • i live in athens. do you live near there?

  • No I live in NE ohio i went to school in nelsonville

  • is that minkers run, i trapped a few beaver off of wolfe bennet road last year

  • yes it is. contact the DNR district 4 they have drawing for beaver trapping all over down there.

  • thanks i cought one 43lbs

  • i have been trapping mink, coyote, and racoon, i have caught one mink and one coyote, but now they arent coming to my sets, im using bacon and honey, any baits u would recomend for each of these animals? also in the snow is there anything i need to do differently on my pocket sets?? thanks

  • Nothing needs to be changed on your pocket sets. Just keep the ice knocked away from around the trap. For mink and coon i use shelfish oil. I pour it in a water bottle and just squirt it in the back of the set. As for the coyotes i use comercial baits. If ya get a muskrat you can cut some of that meat off and use that for bait. hope this helps.

  • Great video. What part of Ohio, I live in Perry Co. I do water trapping but want to try dry land trapping this year.

  • This was in Athens county

  • great video, i have always used a screen over my pan for these sets, what are the pros and cons of a screen compared to this set? Very good video, and good luck this seson.

  • i have used screen in the past its just all preference. i have also used wax paper

  • yes same name as on here. You?

  • cruel wankers

  • i came to one of my sets and a coyote got cought in my trap but managed to get out does that mean my pan is to tight or not tight anough?? thanks

  • you might have just goten a bad catch. for pan tention you dont want the pan to fall on its own weight but you dont want to have to jump on it to go off so to speak. look up NIGHT LATCHING online this is a modification that is done to the pan to help.

  • hi deerhunter,

what has food production got to do with inhumane trapping pf animals, beautiful animals loke coyotes, all i am saying is, that there are humane methods of controlling species whose populations are getting out of contol, like the .22 which i would use here in ireland myself! just dont like cruelty in any form, to animals, jesus bobcats and coons are beautiful creatures, didnt "Grizzly Adams" have a pet one?

  • well this is a humane way of controling the population. (Other wise i beleive that it would have been ban a longtime ago) do you know anything about trapping law? do you know that traps with teeth are not allowed? I have released non target animals from traps exactly like these and the animal has been pefectly fine and ran away with no limp or broken bones or laserations.

  • we dont do much trapping here in Ireland, just to catch badgers, who it is believed transmit TB to cattle, have alot of foxes over here and they are hunted or shot, go out at night withe the lamp and shoot with the .22, can coyotes be trapped all year round and coons an all states where they are found?

  • coyotes yes because they are killing cattle and sheep and farmers dont have time to deal with them. coons no there are seasons set for them.

  • are the coyote pelt worth much deerhunter03? over here u get nothing for red fox, just points etc, if member of a gun club

we used to have wolves here in Ireland and they were hunted to extinction, could not the same happen with coyote? I think they are a beautiful animal, Do you trap full-time, or just as a hobby?

  • It is very unlikely that all the coyotes will ever be hunted or trapped to extinction. They are so adaptable to their suroundings that they are now living in large cities. I trap for both hobby aswell as suplemetal income. As for peltes there is very little money in them. there is no money in the fur market for anything most people trap to help control wildlife population and for the challenge

  • And i can not say why ohio does not have a bounty on coyotes.

  • actually, in Michigan where I live, it is illegal to kill coyotes between april 15 and July 15, unless they are doing or about to do damage. This is to prevent nursing pups from starving to death because the mother has been killed. I set two traps today on my 40 acre hunting ground for the first time ever only because I notice that the rabbit and grouse population has decreased exponentially in the last few years, while the amount of coyote tracks I encounter has increased at a greater rate

  • ANIMAL ABUSERS, HOPE U ALL ROT IN HELL

  • Thankyou for shareing your views with us. Isnt that what makes this country great!!!!! im glad you would like to see alot of animals starve to death after they eat more food than what can be produced.

    Thanks agian

  • BULLSHIT, ANIMAL ABUSERS

  • I got the BMI"s on a good deal. But my favorite trap is also the bridger #2 full mod. My rule of thumb for trap placement is to the back of the hand off set to the tip of the thumb.i have really never heard the thing about the big backing. but i can see where that could be a posibility. thanks for the complements 13 and every one else. Also 13 feel free to ad more info I want people to learn so they can enjoy the sport we do!!!!

  • no this time the traps were not evan set of but the bait was gone

  • you might want to try making the hole deeper in the ground. something else you can do is put some leaves in the hole so its harder for them to get the bait out the longer their there the more of a chance they have to step in the trap.

You could also look for a larger backing. (large dirt cold, larger log, cement block...)

  • is you trap sprung in the bed or is it pulled out?. are you sure that the trap is beded sollid?

  • i put 2 traps like you told me and i still did not get him, my traps are working fine so i dont know what to do. Thanks

  • I have hade my traps dug up, also i have had my backing dug up and they get the bait and the traps git sprung of with the backing sticks, any tips for what i can do to make shure i trap these leary coyotes.

    Thanks

  • on thing you could try is to bed another trap around a foot away infront of the other trap. use no lure on it. make sure it is beded solid. also for the backing problem try using something bigger.

  • glad u did u fucken animal abuser

  • I live in SE Ohio around Bethel. Where did you guys film this?

  • it was filmed just outside of nelsonville

  • hahaha what an idiot, i posted before the video was over my bad

  • keep trapping alive, is that a #2 blake and lamb four coiled, or a bmi..... i might be totally off though

  • greta video guys keep them coming

  • i use # 2 for opossuem

  • great video

  • ohh cool thank you i was thinking it wouldnt because its for the fur trapping and they dont want damaged fur

  • not saying that it cant happen but if there is enough swivles in the cain you will be less likely to have it happen. I have caught coons in #2 with no problem

  • deerhunter, just like the Nfoxes here then! urban foxes we have, they are like a different breed! je I see in kentuckey they pay $70 per pelt! Now that aint bad is it?

why do you think they pay nothing in Ohio, is it because there are a bigger population?

  • would a 1.75 break a coons leg???

  • nope, when you set a trap and then set it off and you think "wow that trap sounds powerful" it is, but traps arent designed to break legs, if they were the government wouldnt let us trap!

  • Is the Bridger 1.65 fully modified good for coyotes?

  • yes i love them. If you just strictly going after yotes use a number #2. If your going after both yotes and fox #1.65 is the way to go.

  • This set does work for coon. Just use Sardines in the hole. Also i would recomend using a 1.5 coilspring insted.

  • would that work for coon to

  • hey deer hunter i mostly agree with you.... nut the added bonus to population control is the extreme fun there is in fuckin destroying a coyote runnen across a field

  • here in ohio you are alowed to

  • YOU CAN TRAP IN PUBLIC HUNTING LAND

  • Are coyotes and foxes common in SE Ohio?

  • coyote are mostly around. you will find a few reds and grays.

  • maybe I am right deerhunter, this is turning out to be a valuable lesson in wildlife education for me! Do u have many greys left in s.e.ohio now?

i pesume they are a protected species now?

  • if they were protected, there absolutely would not be a season on them. period. and coyotes are one of the only animals that live in every single state. minus hawaii. there are so many coyotes if you killed em all and made a jacket, it would fit around the pentagon. twice.

  • cyprisjynx, i think u misinterpretted me, it was they grey wolf, i was talking about!

  • Actualy there are no grey wolfs in Ohio that i am aware of. They are found in very few states in America. The states that they are found in keep a very close watch on them.

I have gathered that you are opposed to trapping. you are entitled to your views as i am to mine. i am not trying to cange you view i am simply giving you facts. that i have learned

  • deerhunter, i have never trapped any willife, and I was of the belief that the trapped animal struggles to get free, thus injuring himself, also i have also seen the videos where basball bats are used to kill the animal, dont tell me this is humane, also if i ever see traps or snares on my land, i will remove same, animals have been known to chew their legs etc, to get free, this is totally inhumane and cruel, at least when I shoot with my rifle, it is instant death!

  • Does ohio pay you for coyote pelts? Cause in kentucky the government wil pay you $70 per pelt

  • This si just cruel. this isn't going to make you a better person and if you have money to buy traps to kill, then you have money to buy clothes without animal skins and food that is already dead

  • siananeko. This is all about wildlife management. thousands of peoples pets are brutaly killed and eaten alive by these animals. all trappers are trying 2 do deminish this problem. we are not in it 4 the money or the killing part. the money is a bonus to the exciting high that we get from this great sport. If you didnt like the video you didnt have to watch it. There is alot worse stuff people are doing with their money. You would have 2 understand predator prey relations 2 understand y we do it

  • perhaps they may bring in one deerhunter or maybe, their populaation is dwindling as a result of too much trapping and shooting! maybe u will find out one day?

  • Maybe your right natrelbod. but i would think if they were endanger of going extinct like the grey wolf they would not allow a season on them. But i could be wrong.

  • yea deerehunter03, I am not a great believer in trapping, wow that is amazing that there are so few greys left, very sad really, spotted one way back in 1995 when I worked in Minnesota, magnificant creatures, even left a few wall murals of one behind me at the camp! He woudl come in at night sniffing about, also seen a black bear, amazing, truly amazing

  • that would be neet to see. and might i ask how trappers are animal abusers? We are required to go through classes in order to trap and have strict laws that we must folow? We have a responsibility as trapers to treat them with respect. Can you say that if you were throwing up in the morning you would go to work? I myself have still been sick enough in the evening that i have had people drive me around to check my traps. Thrown up on the trap line but i owe it to those animals.

  • Shaddup hippie

  • I'm new to trapping. this video was great, purely instructional which is what a trapping video should be. thanks!

  • Yes it is ok! If you catch a fox there is a good chance that if there is another fox in there area they will be by to check it out. The big thing is MAKE SURE BLOOD IS OFF THE TRAP AND AS LITTLE IN THE CATCH CIRCLE AS POSIBLE. if there is blood on the trap either clean it really well or just replace it. also it isnt a bad idea to put a new set in relitivly close to the catch site

  • quick question, after you have caught something in a set, is it okay to keep using that spot again? Not talking for coyotes , like raccons or foxes!

  • Glad to Hear that ctthunter01. was this your first year?

  • i did exactly what u said to do and caught 2 fox and a coyote my first year trappin

  • in the general area. its over by nelsonville

  • is that at hocking hills? i go down there every year for deer gun season with my dad

  • gland lures but dont use to much. right now is breeding season.

  • havent tried that yet

    thanx

  • are you just after yotes or fox to? if after fox use fox glands. yotes will check out fox glands. fox wont check out yote glands

  • just after yotes theres wayyyy to many of them they have bin killing my neighbors calfs and now that theres alot of snow here they are hitting the deer heards

  • coyotes in my area got lots to eat and they arnt realy interested in my traps, have any idea how i could catch them??

  • great video, ever use old hay bails ? seems to be a great set for them Yotes and fox. Alot of farmers give old wet bails away, I drop about 20 of them every year.
