  • shit! that reporter DOESN'T shut up!! one to one my ass.

  • ive never liked this interviewer.

  • Comment removed

  • eric clapton. your an inspiration to all of us

  • I wunder why nobody will ask him about his racial slurs in front of thousands in birmingham 1976, in 2004 he actually reaffirms his position on it hell they have crucified others for a hell of a lot less

  • Eric's drug abuse might be indirectly responsible for

the death of thousands of young people who tried to

emulate him. When I think of how he profited from

the death of his young son (Tears In Heaven), I just

want to spit in this man's face. Eric Clapton is no

hero of mine! By the way, Crossroads is a fraud.

Those that truly could use such a clinic never make

it there (an exotic island). Those that do are often

the privileged children of Hollywood celebrities or

    Washington DC insiders.

  • EC is nearly deaf - hence he's staring at the interviewer to try to read his lips.

  • @anthonythirteen - Eric isn't going "deaf". He's stoned! High as a kite!

  • @TwoUselessLegs No he's going deaf. Just like many other rock stars (e.g. Pete Townsend) who were exposed to loud music for too many years. Read EC's autobiography.

  • @anthonythirteen - Read his book? Hell, I don't even

listen to his music. I only wish I WERE "deaf" when it

comes to his music. He's more of a business man now

than a musician. Besides, there is nothing less truthful

than an autobiography. Especially if that person was a

1960s heroin junkie! Christ, do you REALLY think this

guy remembers the 60's? Think about it. This is the guy

who would wake up in pools of his own vomit not knowing

where he was. Pfft! Yeah, I'm gonna READ his book!

  • @TwoUselessLegs dude, fuck off. do insult clapton. you will never reach and understand what he does.

  • @TwoUselessLegs well i read his book and pattie boyd and their stories are the same....for the most part. Eric says in his book that some memories are foggy and he had to talk to other ppl about details. Also the time that he was a heroin junkie was a few years and his book barely goes into that other than that he and his gf would stay at his house and do drugs...there wasnt much more to remember.

  • @mmg1123- I don't trust this man. If he were my neighbor I

would spit on him. Do you know how many young people

followed his exampled and got into heroin? Thousands? Eric

claims he wrote Tears In Heaven for his dead boy out of grief.

Yet, do you know there's a old movie of him working on this

song YEARS before Conner died. Also troubling is that while

many wealthy people would have traditionally donated the

proceeds of this song to a children's charity, Eric instead

    kept it all.

  • ''Dr Freud call you're office'' is an apt comment because this guy is giving Eric the equivalent of a session in psychoanalytic therapy on US TV.

  • Eric Clapton is God

  • *On Lennon's 67th birthday actually hmm.

  • the interviewer sucks

  • why are you alive? WTF . . . because he's God, that's why!

  • Lord! Is Matt Lauer an idiot or what?!?! He's got his "radio dj voice" on like he's spinning the next great record! And get the GD grin off your face while talking to him about his 4 year old's death. C'mon!

  • Great interview, I'm tired of seeing interviewers tiptoe around delicate issues with stars. Plus, the interviewer gave Eric a heads up before the interview started, and would not have been able to interview Eric without his permission to ask the difficult questions. As the interviewer said, Eric is extremely private, so who knows what he did with the profits from the "tears in heaven" song? Alcholism/Drug addictions covers one in filth, so why not talk about the pain, and darkness in ones life?

  • @TwoUselessLegs He used, and Still uses a TON of the money he makes for his Drug rehab in Antigua, called, Crossroad.

Which why the crossroads guitar festival is held every year.

  • @losaface4 - Let me be clear here: His "Crossroads" clinic

services the Hollywood elite and their messed-up children.

The addicts he pretends to help are the last people who can

afford to buy an airplane ticket to this exotic Island where his

clinic is located. Crossroads is a NON-PROFIT TAX SHELTER

(thus it's located off U.S. soil). This is the brain-child of his

accountant, NOT of Eric's benevolent character. Keep in mind

that Eric never does ANYTHING that doesn't benefit HIM first!

  • @TwoUselessLegs Any evidence - or just trolling?????

  • @anthonythirteen -Do your own fucking homework, slacker!

Let me ask you something: If you were a millionaire and you

wrote a song for your dead boy (Tears In Heaven) would you

keep the money from it? Or would you do what most of us

would do and donate it to some charity in your boys name?

Eric kept every nickel from this song. He claims he wrote this

song while sobbing a week after his boy died. Unfortunately

for Eric, there's a video of him working on "Tears" LONG

    BEFORE his boy died.

  • @TwoUselessLegs Set up a charity for what? To campaign for secure bars to be put across all windows in penthouses? Then get trolls like yourself saying it is just another tax scam? There is no such video: he also said the song took months. Troll on.

  • @anthonythirteen -There's a film here that shows him

working on a song at a kitchen table. During the course

of a day, he might scribble on a piece of paper a title or

a sentence...then puts it in jar. Later, when he feels like

composing, he pulls out. This one was about meeting a

loved one in heaven. He plays the opening chords for

"Tears In Heaven". Eric lied when he said he wrote this

for Conner. As for Crossroads, pretend you're an addict,

go online and TRY to go there. Just try!

  • @TwoUselessLegs You're a complete Jack ass saying that. He used his talent to turn his grief into song and by no means was he doing that solely to profit. It's therapy, and so what, he made money from the hit. What, are you jealous you don't have the genius to do that? Don't put him down because he's good at what he does.

  • the section about his son was way too far....

  • That reporter does not deserve to interview Eric Clapton. Some of his comments are sarcastic, unnecessarily harsh and full of questions that only lead to topics of his past he has had to talk about over and over again. Eric had just opened his heart to practically everyone, and this man does not seem to understand the delicacy of the situation. What a shame...

  • I love Clap <3

  • wow wow wow... am i the only one that thinks that Eric shoulda brought along his guitar, pulled it out, tuned it, and knocked the fuck outta the interviewer!!??

sheesh! what a douche! doesn't even put any emphasis to use better words when directing his questions... although i must say Eric handled better than most of us woulda

  • This interviewer is fuckin straight forward.

  • If that man interviewing Eric knew anything about music he would tone it down a bit...

  • the biggest piece of bullshit that came out of the guy`s mouth was the part where he mentioned clapton`s son. seriously how would you feel or handle it if you were walking in his shoes, it just has to be the most dreadfull thinng that could happen to anybody so just give the guy a fucking break.

  • well this reporter is a douchebag.

  • Clapton is incredible!

I have to see him live or meet the cat!

  • I hate these loudmouth-type interviewers - so blunt & impolite in their prodding. EC is on national T.V. - give him a break here.

  • @kingalow1 yeah the interviewer is a ponce!

  • I love the way these British celebrities from England like Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Phil Collins, Mick Fleetwood, Paul McCartney, The Beatles, all talk. Their British accent is so intriguing and funny.

  • Matt Lauer fuck yourself you have never went through and been through what eric has

  • Yes, exactly !!! I thought the very same thing. as if to say "You bastard !!, you have not clue who you are talking to !!! " Matt Lauer is a Jackass, what a douchbag !!!! Matt was lucky to come to NBC, he was OUT OF WORK for the longest time and had to borrow money from his relatives in order to support himself

  • wow i wanna punch the interviewer in the fucking face... such wrong ways to ask questions that were deeply emotional for Eric..

    Love you eric

  • I enjoyed it very much Thanks

  • Perhaps you should read his book before you jump on Matt. EC takes responsibility for his behaviors and addictions. He's a remarkable man and he got lucky, unlike some of his contemporaries. Glad he's still with us and rockin' on!

  • wow when he is like "Thank you Matt..." that turd interupts him. jerk.

  • I aslo enjoyed a plastic guitar phase at the age of 3, and perfected singing through fans.....

  • Matt Lauer is an enormous douchebag. He thinks he's so smart politically but he's not. God, I despise him.

  • @tomthefunky I thought the very same thing. as if to say "You bastard !!, you have not clue who you are talking to !!! " Matt Lauer is a Jackass, what a douchbag !!!! Matt was lucky to come to NBC, he was OUT OF WORK for the longest time and had to borrow money from his relatives in order to support himself

  • @Velvet4U: He belongs as a weatherman or something like that. I don't have a tv but I read he's involved in a sex scandal with a tranny!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tomthefunky Oh my goodness, you are sooooo Correct !!!!!!!!!! Matt Lauer is a first class DoucheBag !!!!!

I'm sure many despise Lauer. Matt Lauer was unemployed for the longest time, and borrowed money from family for a long time , before he was lucky enough to get his NBC job.

  • He sounds enormously healthy. EC is an amazing human - complex, gifted, talented, reconciled and hopefully happy. (can you tell I'm a fan?). God bless - keep on growing and giving, man!

  • to klingman, my how nice to hear a person starting out on the discovery of music and life too say what you did , the problem with music now adays is not talent but fragmentation ! evrybody has there nich! Eric Claptons legacy will not be just his technical excelance , song writing or singing, but his VERSATILITY,to master one thing and move ON, E.C. said once that there are 6000 possible chords on the guitar the chances of you creating a new one are slim , but the WAY you put it together well !

  • I'm 15 and I love Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Pink Floyd, The Eagles...lots of good bands, I wish i had been able to grow up with them, most music is not the same these days, but some bands seem promising. Its like when blues/jazz music turned into rock music just rock turns into rap...even though the two arent related at all

  • the good news about music is it's pretty much out there for all time - enjoy it! If you like EC can I recommend checking out The Allman Brothers Band as well as re-listening to Layla and other Assorted (Eric + Duane Allman equaled legendary music!) Cheers!

  • If you like Clapton you're on the right road We never grow up with all the things we wish we had -whether we're 15 or 95 Long as we can appreciate some of the best from the past [and the present] that's all we can hope for,.Listen to the Moody Blues I think you'll find them mellow

  • 1:10 "Why are you still alive?"

1:15 Clapton gives him the "Deathly Stare", like, well, sorry to disappoint you.

  • Lmao, i never noticed it, thats so damn true lol xD

  • @DiaryofaMadman1982 Yes, exactly !!! I thought the very same thing. as if to say "You bastard !!, you have not clue who you are talking to !!! "

  • @DiaryofaMadman1982 lol, i think he meant how

  • But hey, Matt Lauwer has developed into a fine penis. He is now fully...erect? "Dr Frued, call your office!" Dick.

  • Hey it's mister pity party, who constantly pisses and moans about his health problems on you tube. Nobody cares mister pity party about you, your wheelchair, your diabetes, or the fact that you shit your diapers you disabled diaper wearing stinky welfare boy.

  • Comment removed

  • Ugh! Another Mundane post from a MEDIOCRE troll! Can't we get there moronic, jealous, pimply teenagers off youtube?

  • If there were no young teens on YT Blankfrac k you'd have nobody to prey on as 60schick or Bluezoom in hopes of finding someone to cyber with.

  • @Blankfrack are you still whining to You Tube on a daily basis ? Notice Heller never responded to you , or Diederik050. Neither of them want to babysit you to suit your needs.

  • Fuck that guy Diederik...

  • Dressy knows better then to sniff your asshole mister throw me a pity party, I mean you would shit all over them because you cant control your bowels through your spinal cord. Didnt Nathan Forst sue you in the gay divorce settlement and get your welfare check flooby ?

  • @Blankfrack HEY BOZO WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP EATING ALL THIS SPICY FOOD ALTHOUGH YOU CANT FEEL US WERE BURNING UP DOWN HERE

  • right on

  • clapton rock f u all

  • he became awoman after cream.that whole lame the band school.

  • this interviewer is a dick

  • baloonman. Don't pay attention to BetaSoulLess and the like. They are only on this site to piss you off. That's their job is too shake up the REAL music lovers and listeners. The word 'soul' implies he is only in to Motown and Rap. He is soul less and he knows it. He is jealous that a great musician, such as Clapton, is getting well deserved attention. Beta soul less would not be able to clean Eric's toilet let alone do anything positive. Turn up 'Mainline Florida' and ignore the assholes.

  • have fun listening to your jonas brothers little boys

  • im trying to reply to these little boys who are criticizing clapton... i dont really know how... i dont usually reply to videos... i keep comments to myself unless i have somthin good to say... but when these little boys criticize clapton... geez.... i have to say somthing... it amazes me the stupidity of little boys these days

  • he rocks big time

  • im actually quite amazed by the stupidity of your reply. and dont worry your not the only one im criticizing. there are a few other of you i dont really want to waste my time with... ill stick with you (even tho im sayin this to all of you little boys who criticize clapton) how old are you guys? 13..14...?? hes a guitar player man, leave it be.sure hes old.sure hes done shit in his life. who are you to say hes cashing in on success? who are u to say anything? its just funny is all: the stupidity

  • The interviewer is such a prick.

  • Yeah, he is. He's not giving Clapton the right amount of respect.

  • Honestly there are so many wankers in this world. Now let me ask you, who the fuck you are, have the right to say an artist should not release his song ?

And all of you saying like, Eric Clapton used his dead son to make profit ?? WTF ?? What are you, twelve ? Fact it, it's a great song. It's not like his son composed the song and the he stole it. HE COMPOSED IT HIMSELF.

Got so many thing else to say but I know you motherfuckers won't listen.

  • I cant believe there is so many negative comments of EC. He has had a complicated life, and the best songs and music periods in his life were when he was down. But this is the case for many artists. Today he is happy and just love playing blues. Anyone who has read his book would know that he is not the type that thinks about money, and why should he, he has been succesfull for 45 years. For all you haters out there, Eric Clapton is the GUITARMAN!

  • he sounds like bill oddie

  • CLAPTON IS GOD!!!!!

  • He was a rock star. Name a famous rock star and they would probably display at least 3 of these 4 traits. Not many people hate on Jimmy Page, and yet he was worse than Clapton in this respect. Not many people hate on Hendrix. Clapton and Page both cleaned their acts up. And Clapton was very hesistant to release Tears in Heaven because it was so personal to him.

So basically, in your view, just about ever big rock star are incapable of redemption.

  • Lots of interesting comments below, I don't know if anybody knows for sure what these rich rock stars do with their millions etc, we can speculate but I remember reading Gt Ormond Street Hospital receiving funds with regard to Tears in Heaven. I guess if a guy doesn't scream & shout about what he does for 'Charidy', people may assume that he does nothing? But, like many, he probably gives quietly. Dont forget the auction of guitars too, that must've hurt!

  • didn't cash in on his son's death, twisted person thinking that.

  • Do you people really want to know what Clapton is like? Ask his friends, who know best. B.B. King at one of the Crossroads concert gave a speech on Eric, and it was brutally honest. As King said, "May I live forever, but may you live forever and a day, because Lord, I don't want to be here when you pass away." That's how strong their friendship is. And B.B. King is a great guy; I believe anything he says.

  • mustangman44 Look, let's you and I be "brutally honest"; we are talking about two dinosaurs here. Old men often compliment each other as they fade away. I have a great deal of respect for B.B. King (god bless his soul) but he hasn't done anything meaningful since 1982. If you like boring pentatonics and fluffy soft rock hits, you gotta love Eric Clapton. If personal character and decent behavior matter to you, you gotta hate Eric. Personally, I don't think about him at all. He does not matter.

  • Personal character and decent behavior matter to me, yet Eric Clapton is my favorite artist. The guy has made his mistakes, but he's shaped up his act now. Have you ever actually heard that speech? Listen to it. Everything that King says is true.

  • CubanCheGuevara, blackfrack, AmericanExpatriot , Pinkpegesus, MasterJackAubrey and marianne762 are all the same, stupid troll; Lardass56. Just FYI

  • @Blankfrack just like you wearing a wig, a dress and playing 60schick ? Or you playing "Brokeback Mountain" as Hardarteryman ? Or steelyman, Trollsmasher050, Horsesass2, or Gay-Bro your gay biker personality ?

The fake messages you send to yourself as made up friends are to laugh at. If these people were real friends they would call, text message or e-mail you , not post personal messages on You Tube.

    Egad, you're such loser !

  • if you don't think about him at all then why watch this video

  • who dont like? fucking dumbass!

  • Will you idiots quit copying that comment! You don't have a single damn clue what you're talking about! First of all, he wasn't even a cocaine addict; it was heroine, and he's clean now. Has been for nearly 20 years. So SHUT UP!

Eric Clapton is a better man than ANY of you little whiners will be. EVER.

  • Matt Lauer is such a douche.

  • donated money?? r u kiddin me? u wouldnt of donated shit i mean be fukin real

  • shut the fuk up u idiot ppl like u deserve to get cancer n i hope u get a grapefruit tumor in ur brain.....ur parents too bitch

  • i know where your coming from. yes he could have donated it to a hospital or something. but you listen to him sing that song. you here him sing that song and you here the passion and the sorrow in his voice. yes, it could be a charade. but i doubt that he just relinquished all grievance and memories of Conner. also, he has other children and he maybe could have put that money towards what he would have done if conner was still alive, like education. maybe he still wants the best for his kids.

  • hurleykid- Don't be so naive. Eric is a billionaire several times over, Eric could've easily donated the proceeds of "Tears In Heaven" to a charity avoided any appearance of conflict of interest. It looks very much he loved his son almost as much as he loves money. He's just a business man now. The man would sell his own mother if there was profit in it. Even his Crossroads clinic is located on an exotic island where access is impossible except for the rich and famous. Eric is not your friend.

  • okay. i'm going to go back a bit. not exactly the same situation but somewhat the same idea. Buddy Holly dies. Don McLean writes "American Pie." he profits off of Buddy Holly's death. did he give any of that money to say, Buddy Holly's family? as far as i recall, no. he became very rich off that one song. yes, you may read this, laugh and think "wow this guy's an idiot." maybe i am wrong and Eric's just as much of an asshole as you say he is. But i feel what i feel.

  • oh, one more thing. you won't be able to change my mind using all of your different accounts. quality beats quantity.

  • That's what the Crossroads concerts are for. To lower the cost for those unable to afford treatment.

  • I have to agree with what you said. He did get mixed up with drugs and alcohol, and a womanizer, maybe so. Howwever, i have to disagree about what you said about tears in heave. when his son died i doubt the thought that was going through his head was "I am going to write a song about this kid and get money really fast!" no, instead he wrote a song about a very hard time in his life. also, did it ever occur to you that it could be an anthem for those who have lost a child?

  • I have to agree with you on what you said before. yes, he did get mixed up with drugs and alcohol, and a womanizer, maybe so. However, i have to disagree about what you said about Tears in Heaven. When Claptons son died, he didnt take advantage of his sons death to make a quick buck. Instead, he wrote a song about one of the most difficult times of his life. I dont think the minute his son died he was thinking "i am gonna write a song about this and get rich really fast!"

  • Fair interview given that Clapton's personal life is an open book and quite messy to say the least. However, regarding band uniforms comment - go back and take a look at the silly outfits Eric wore in the early days - seems he has a short memory of those days.

  • matt lauers an asshole i would have been pretty pissed if i was eric i mean the guy just takes cheap shots, why are you alive what kind of a fuckin question is that dickhead, ask him about how he got into music or somthin like that not what was it like not knowing your mother, dickhead again

  • Terrible interviewing style - compare this with Frank Skinner's approach a decade before: Skinner is providing the jokes, but still giving EC enough time to answer sensibly.

  • E. Clapton is very open about all of this content - just read the autobiography or get his 60 minutes interview - but I wholeheartedly agree with the consensus that this interviewer is crass. Eric, you've got class. I bet you were saying to yourself, "This too shall pass."

    lol

  • I'm a huge Clapton fan and I am not seeing what you guys are talking about. This is a typical only focus on the sensationalism type of interview. Larry King's was very similiar.

  • This guy isn't worthy to interview Eric, I agree completely. This imbecile has no respect.

  • well I could have been an actor....but I wound up here...I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear...Come and whisper in my ear...Give me dirty laundry...

  • what an annoying twat.. Eric is far to decent to be interviewed by this idiot

  • matt lauer is glib

  • Too many questions!! What a complete gentleman Clapton is!! God Bless him!!

  • Matt Lauer is an idiot period.

  • Matt Lauer is a Douche

  • Absolutely !!! Lauer is a Total and Complete Douche BAG !!! Matt Lauer couldn't find a job until he got the "NBC Today Show". Lauer had to borrow money from everyone. Also Matt Lauer was sucking his thumb under his bed, while Clapton was changing the world.

  • with an asshole like Lauer, Clapton played it very cool with all the questions.

  • wheres kurt loder or david fricke when u need em?

  • Matt Lauer the complete Douche Bag !! What a Jerk !!

  • The Beatles rock, but he is so right. "Who wears band uniforms?" LOL.

  • CLAPTON IS GOD.

He was resurrected and did Layla in '92 then ascended back to the heavens.

  • if i was clapton i would punch Laurer in the face

  • Oh God !! I was thinking the exact same thing !! I was waiting for Clapton to take a swing at Lauer. "hey Lauer, do you want to talk about some of the positive things I've done?" Hey Matt, while you were jerking off in your bed room, I was changing the music industry"

  • clapton gives a realy evil face to lauer when he says "why are you still alive" lol

  • If Eric had a guitar on him, I think Matt Laurer would be dead. Death by face melting.

  • he wasnt really that bad, he was just asking these questions more casually than most interviewers would, he asked the questions that people would want to hear answered...nice job matt

  • Who writes Matt Lauer's stuff? "How are you alive?" "First 5 years of your life were kind of a lie." The questions are fair but why the mean segues. "You ended up with Patty Boyd" like she was a consolation prize.

Whatever. I hated the movie "Walk the Line" because it was all about Johnny Cash's drug addition. What a ridiculous way to immortalize a legend on film. What a ridiculous way to interview Eric Clapton.

  • I agree. Matt was completely predictable and pretentious. Not a very deep guy, that Lauer.

  • Very well said !! You are absolutely correct!

I really feel that Matt Lauer was "hoping" that Clapton would get angry. That would have been headlines for Matt Lauer. It would have made Lauer really famous, that he got Clapton upset. I think , Matt Lauer was thinking, "If I could get Clapton upset, then I will be a star reporter"

  • matt laurer. u fuckin DOUCHEBAG! clapton ought to have brought shitty guitar and wacked his head for his shitty questions and comment. that was awful!

  • that interviewr is an ass. He asks those questions just for the sell out. no actual interest or sensibility present. And clapton is GOD

  • Wish Lauer had spent more time asking about the music and less time on some of the more sordid asepcts of Clapton's life.

  • The interviewer might sound like an ass, but he asked questions that we all want to know about but no one dared to ask, he must have credit for that. Great Interview.

  • I agree to a point. His first question "How are you alive now" is something I've always considered about Clapton. He withdrew from (I think, from reading his book) around 5 different drugs, as well as a serious addiction to alcohol in which he drank more of than 100 people should in their lives. It's extrodinary. Thank goodness though, because I sure as hell love watching him play guitar more than anybody else, and I base my own playing off of him.

  • Yeah i think that's the point how could he still alive with all that really heavy things that he had in his live,

  • The interview took place on the anniversary of John Lennon's birthday.

It also happens to be Pattie Boyd's birthday today! yay.

Matt L is obnoxious, he should announce sports and nothing else!

  • wow what a cock... that guy is such a dick.

  • if u look at claptons face when matt talks about drugs and stuff he looks mad REALLY MAD

  • The interviewer is an brash, ignorant, arrogant asshole. Eric is very secure and classy. Give the legend some respect. He was what he was but wasn't everyone from the time.

  • abhinav333. Yes, I was right there and back!!! I saw it and did it all. Your remarks were well said. Matt Lauer is a straight laced little mutt next to Clapton who is a sophisticated, class act.

  • This interview is cringe-making. Matt Lauer is truly awful - so brash, crass and loud. Eric gives a very dignified response to his insensitive questionning - but then he is a very polite man! As a British person, I viewed Matt Lauer as a nightmare.

  • why couldn't the guy asked him more friendly questions not questions that were so personal

  • I don't now!?

  • jes this guy is an ass hole he asked a lot of personal questions Clapton shouldve told him to screw off.

  • i agree clapton didn`t feeled gohd when took up personal thing

  • "Did your painfull childhood forced you to escape into music?"

    What a dumbfuck...

  • Matt Lauer was such a bitch. What a waste of Clapton's time.

  • Tell me about it! So fucking insincere! I think this nobhead has NO compassion or sympathy for Eric Clapton. The man deserves respect!

  • I do love his book... and Pattis book.

  • i've read both and they totally awesome.I loan them to friends all the time and when they're done they say mike those were awesome books.

  • Amazing, Lauer wants the sound bite, probes for weakness, and misses the point.

    Welcome to America Eric.

  • You dont have to YELL Lauerrer. Dude is so effing annoying and so..so...dull...mediocre and ego...its a wonder Eric's even speaking to you...

  • WHat a piece of shit Lauer is. How he has the nerve to say at the end that he his a huge fan is beyond me..What a rude, pathetic man Lauer is. Clapton takes his bullshit with such class and uprightness. Good for him. Clapton is such a solid guy these days. Great shows too, saw him in Toronto last yr.

  • clapton is awesome

  • Clapton is so chill....

I really don't like how Matt Lauer is taking things out of context and shoving them in Eric's face. Lauer is disgraceful...

Its great to hear more of Clapton's story though.

  • The host did handle this interview like a race but he was very right about clapton just skimming over a lot of the subjects. Many of us can relate to clapton's situation but he shared a lot more honestly than most of us will ever. Life is a HARD SUBJECT.

  • Patti's book is good too.

  • 'Who wears band uniforms?!'

    Hilarious

  • As always, Clapton is as interesting as ever, especially due to his history, and having been around during the early 60s in London when Page and The Beatles and that whole scene was happening. However, I feel it's necassary to say that this interviewer is a fucking asshole who shows Clapton almost no respect, and addreses extremely personal and sensitive aspects of Clapton's life with absolutely no regard toward Clapton's feelings. I understand he's got a job to do, but come on.

  • Agreed, that man is a total prick and has no right to be in the presence of Eric Clapton.

  • I agree with you completely. The interviewer is an asshole but Eric handles it very well don't you?

  • Actually, let me say that I've changed my mind. Initially, I thought that the interviewer was an asshole because of the way that he speaks as if he's better than CLapton, but I've changed my mind. He read the book, and every question he asked is based on the book, and all very insightful. I really enjoyed this interview, and I'd like to take back what I said about the interviewer- hope you agree.
