Newborns are touched all the time, sometimes because something's gone wrong, sometimes because they came out too fast and the people are going to help stimulate excretion. In fact, in many cases human intervention is NECESSARY to keep the puppies alive. You are wrong to think they are "too fragile" for 2 weeks.

If a dog isn't coming out like it's suppose to, the reason they have to push, is because the dog can suffocate.

Thanks for posting this video. I've never seen a dog give birth. It was so interesting and those puppies are SO cute! At the end of the video, mom's teats looked way too large for her puppies little mouths, but it was so cute to watch.

I think sometimes the people should help they dogs. My mom breed maltese and one day the female dog Xenia give birth but the puppy stuck in the female dog Xenia and can't come out so my mom must pulling a little bit.

And when a female dog get puppys they are nervous and it's better when the owner was there.

No... it doesn't hurt the puppies, but you must be very careful. :)

I agree helping is good, but not pulling the babies out for her :( What did dogs do before humans domesticated them? I have had experience with births, and that was a little overboard. If her dog perfers the help, and feel comfortable with the owner doing that, then ok. I don't think she is doing wrong in this, just give the dog a chance to have the puppies and see how she does. Moniter for any complications :)
