  • He needed to pull the sail in, by takin the main sheet in one hand (all of it) and it would have gone much more cleanly, he would have got the sail around much earlier, and avoided capsize. Oh and power through, rather then only gently pull on the tiller.

  • After letting his sail out he needs to then trim again also once he went round the mark he then let his sail out futher witch made it harder to turn.

  • Ease his sail princi? How? Take the shrouds out. Issue was he was reaching but sail on a run. He thought it would gybe as rounded but infact that was the run :) commit and go is the key.

  • AAAAH!!! He should have eased his sail, hiked, then trimmed again. Could have avoided that...but that gibe was AWESOME!!!!!

  • lol how did he even capsize xD

  • Looks like he bent the sail at the end.

  • How does the Supernova compare to the Laser?? Faster, cheaper, easier to rig, etc?

  • Hi the supernova is a much easier driven hull the sheets dont get caught up etc doesnt tend to death roll like the laser, it is quicker than the laser in most wind conditions, it is not as sturdy as the laser and it can get caught in irons if you try to slam tack it

  • Thanks--wondering if these are available in the U.S. Mostly Lasers around here.

  • dont think they are yet, they are manufactured by Hartley boats in the UK and as far as I know they are the only builders the original design and builder was Giles, the designer and builder of the Lightning single hander

  • @zkenzo bullshit

  • his rudder also fell out so thats just bad rigging

  • display of poor boat handling, i saw that coming a mile away, in high winds, and low winds, it is always a good idea to pull your sheet in when trying to do a controlled gybe, the momentum will take any boat over.

  • hahaha, i do that often!!

  • Who didnt see that coming.... also hope his rudder didnt sink as he righted the boat

  • Hey I just film them I sail an IC a bit of a different beast

  • letting the kicker off wouldnt make any difference, he needed to pull in some sheet. its called a chinease gybe.

  • letting his kicker off does help. Board up a bit and kicker off and it would have gone cleanly

  • you should of let your vang off then that wouldnt happen

  • what kinda dinghy is that?

  • Supernova see their website just put supernova into google quite a popular dinghy in the UK at present

  • More like attempts gybe not gybes and capsizes

  • he didnt even gybe

  • lmao, he was well slow, great video again

  • to see how to do it properly see phantom and supernova gibing

  • Lol i don't think he came out of that thinking 'perfect manouver'

  • No he didnt his comment when he saw the vid was you b******d

  • Lol, we've all done it ;)

  • lol i hate it when you come out of the gibe thinkin "yes, a perfect maneuver" and then capsize :(
