Export of tobacco was Zim's main income. Africans do not eat tobacco as food. Africans grew their food in mass quantity with continuous purchase of fertilizers from the west. The commercial farmers who were the European occupiers grew & exported the tobacco. Sanctions by the west refused sale of fertilizers to Zim. China re-supplied Zim the fertilizers to increase food production. If you didn't know, Zimbabwe' was the the no.1 source for Anglo Saxon and Western European tobacco.

Why does it matter if whites own the farms? I think ive encountered a farmer once in my life. There are more important things to focus on, like a stable healthy lifestyle, filled with education and hope. Mugabe exagerated the land issue to win votes. Before 2000 most Zimbabweans didnt even think land was an issue. Now all of a sudden land is everything, even though they still dont own the land, since it belongs to ZANUPF government officials. It would be roughly ethical for either the federal, provincial or municipal governments to make a fair market offer for ,let's say, 20 to 30% of a farm, then sell it at an affordable price to a Work Co-op of local folks. Do that with about 100 farms, and see how well they run it.

If whites beat and tortured you in prison for years and refused to let you attend your only son's funeral you would become deranged over time as well.
