I've got a question for you. I'm a beginner at coloring in PS and I'm not sure how to prepare a drawing for coloring. It seems my lines keep "thinning" on every attempt I make to get rid of the white background.
After deleting the white background try duplicating the line layer and then merging them together. Or you can leave the white and just set the layer mode to Multiply and set it at the very top of all your layers.
Most of the time I just keep the mid tone so it creates a sense of continuity throughout the pic (there are some exceptions) but if you just wanted the character you could use the magic wand to select large areas of color to delete it.
There's another one on my channel that one is a slide show vid so it should be easier to follow cause you can pause and stuff. I follow pretty much the same process in that vid too.
Christa, you are amazing! I wish I had more time this year to experiment more with photoshop but senior year has been so busy! I will definitely keep this tutorial in mind once I start doing stuff. I also do agree that this has been one of your best coloring yet, keep it up :]
^^ Thanks. Senior year is pretty busy for the first few months then it kinda evens itself out. But yeah let me know if you need any photoshop tips or anything :)

so do you keep the mid tone behind the character and just erase around him when you do the back ground?
