Arise Sir Francis Morgan. An absolute legend. The fans favourite though not media friendly. Lucky enough to remember him at his best in 1980 and 1984. There are not many British Sportsman who can live with him.

I am French and I think that Daley Thompson is one of the greatest sportsman of modern times.

Decathlon is the ultimate Olympic event (BMX bicycle and tennis??) but, sadly, gets very little TV coverage nowadays as it is spread over too many days and events.

He aslo seemed to have quite a outspoken personality which sets him apart from the poster boys we have nowadays who can't utter a word unless their publicists and agents give their approval.

Also, the mustache is very, very cool.

A true legend. The man was one of the greatest competitors i have ever seen. Superb in every dicipline bar the 1500 metres which he admitted being a struggle. Revolutionised the sport! One of the most complete all round athletes ever.

Greatest British sportsman ever. In my opinion ony Ian Botham and Steve Redgrave come close. Daley did it with a sense of humour and a smile on his face as well. I remember in 1984 his interview after he'd got his gold medal when he said "i've got the big G boys, i've got the big G". Total legend.

How could one man be SO GOOD at every event? Dam, the man could run the 100m in 10.45 seconds, with everyone else miles behind and noone "pushing" him and this was 24 years ago! Then after 2 days of grueling events, running the mile in just over 4 minutes and that being your weakest event!!!!!
