Why does this video promote FedEx when they are non-union and hire illegals to deliver packages??? UPS is way more American then FedEx! FedEx only cares about the bottom line by hiring illegals and firing Americans. Check your facts!
PS - the crash in the middle east was terrorism, eventhough the gov't won't admit it since they don't want to scare the public.
@Deltapilot96 I work for FedEx and they do not send their planes out of country for repairs. As far as the other aspects, management and the higher ups cut their pay to keep our pay the same during the recession. My managers pay was cut 10% but they could afford it before. We didn't get any raises that year but we didn't get laid off. We did however, get a price hike on health insurance this year if you are not single. Ive worked for both companies and can say that fedex is better
@murcroadster They care about us more so we care about the packages more. At ups they treat you like shit so you do just enough work to get by. My coworkers would go as far as to smash boxes on purpose in phoenix for no reason. When asked why they would say why not. Stealing phones, breaking packages and their contents, and working in a 135 + degree trailer without letting us get water is bullshit. Trust me ship with fedex. Packages are automatically insured for 100 bucks.
I'm curious as to what some of the aircraft in this video have to do with outsourcing aircraft maintenance? The American Airlines Boeing 767 in this vid was at LAX doing an engine run-up when the HPT in the port engine let go,sending shrapnel into the fuselage and wing(the aircraft has since been written off and scrapped). The British Airways Boeing 777 crash landed at LHR because fuel contamination (possibly by ice)caused both engines to shutdown while the aircraft was on final approach.
Obviously, the aircraft pictured in the video are reference only. Nice to see someone that has done their homework. Are you working for the NTSB? or are you another foreign MRO employee defending your "rights"?
Actually I'm a cargo agent for American Airlines based at BOS. I also worked a stint for UPS here doing package handling and load planning for some of the flights(they believe in multi-tasking here),but I'm also considering going for my PPL and going for a ATP license as well. It just seems that this video is beating a dead horse, or so to speak because airlines have been outsouricing aircraft MRO for DECADES now,so this isn't new.
Well call it as you will...I'll beat the hell out of a dead horse anytime if it potentially saves or could save someone's life. Your information on airlines outsourcing MRO work for decades is true, and this is an informational video for that purpose. However, more airlines are pulling more of the MRO work back "in house" or only outsourcing it domestically now as the track record for foreign facilities has proven itself over the years.
So now it's no airplane is Safe, I was wondering why it dident show that in the video. Now cast away should count lol shame on fedex for wanting to show one of there planes crashing but that's nothing new to them not a good marketing tool there. Are you an ex ups employee? Do you have the numbers on ups air incidents? Now we can do this all day and get no where. Your saying one thing about the video I'm saying another. If your a pro fedex guy there's nothing wrong with that.
I'm a pro safe skies guy. I hate seeing more and more US jobs outsourced to substandard foreign groups whether it be maintenance on airplanes, customer service, or even the clothes on our backs. How many times have you called customer service somewhere just to be unable to understand the person on the other end of the phone? Air Safety is an even bigger issue for me. There are literally thousands of planes over our heads every day and 70+ percent are a danger to society from foreign repair!
as for the numbers..i told you to do a little homework if you are truly interested in this issue. UPS has it's fair share of incidents yearly just like any other airline. UPS has lost an airframe or two in the past but zero to a major crash. They once spent more money repairing an MD-11 (that took a hard landing into SDF) than it would've cost to buy another one. All because they didn't want the lost aircraft on their record.
i agree with you 100% on the safe skies. now a days u cant call no where without getting some who barley speak english. i love aviation and to think that companys put people lives in danger to save money weather its ups or fedex or any airline is horrible but we cant control those things. i just kno at are ups gateway in phl are planes get checked repeatedly before a departure thats why i took offense to the video but since you cleared it up.
The reason why they spent the money repairing the MD-11 is because they're not easy to replace, since the last MD-11s were built in 2000(and FedEx usually tries to call dibs on them) . Obviously, the damage was minimal enough so as to not declare the aircraft a write-off.
OK, "compaired" to FedEx, we need a grounds for comparison...1st being, your relevance, what exactly or how exactly did you derive from this video that we are comparing the safety of UPS over FedEx?
In order to compare, do you want to compare airframes lost? air incidents? ground incidents? actual crashes? the numbers might startle you and the rest of the public, but i can easily post them referencing my local FAA office...let me know which numbers you would like to see!!
im an air operations supervisor for ups i dont agree with the layoffs and the contract issues with there aircraft maintenance but what your saying in the video is that ups airplanes are not safe. if you have numbers of airframe lost? air incidents? ground incidents? actual crashes? that were caused by fauilty maintenance by foreign or domistic repair centers. i was wondering why there was nothing bad said about fedex because its a pro fedex video anyone that watches it can tell that .
Ok, you're a PT supervisor for UPS, there are 14,000 of you in the system, don't create a title for yourself that is so overrated. How long have you worked for UPS since you don't have much insight as to the air incidents? FedEx has had it's fair share too but Cast Away doesn't count! What I'm saying is that NO AIRPLANES ARE SAFE THAT ARE MAINTAINED IN FOREIGN REPAIR STATIONS! Do some homework on the subject if you are truly interested. Good Luck with your "career" at UPS too!
1 less bonus for the "management committee" this holiday season. As profits are up, executive sex offenders are on the rise too! Too bad the VP of UPS took the easy way out before he could be convicted of such a heinous crime. UPS executive accused of rape commits suicide as read from A J C . com!
Excellent video, and thank you for hosting it for me. I finally got mine up, but yours is getting all the hits. Fred absolutely enjoyed every second of this!! The rest of the gang at FDX says THANK YOU!
I heard you are a union brother in LOCAL 89 and a marshaller? Is that true? If it is, you ought to just withdraw from the union if that's how you feel. We trust you with our lives out there, so yeah, safety is the issue.
this is perhaps one of the most irresponsible things i have ever watched. do you really think driving business away from ups is going to help your cause, if ups loses business then they have need for fewer mechanics not more. would you rather go to fedex where they can just cut your wages to save money, i didn't see to many mechanics making concessions too save union brothers jobs, and southwest mechanics should be making more money they transport people not boxes, safety not the issue
No need to make concessions when a company is making this much money. Southwest employees are paid well because they are a great company. They've settled 3 contracts this year with their pilots, mech's and FA's, all of which received raises when the company has not made a penny profit in over 9 months.
Raw 420 you are a pretty angry dude! Didn't they just take pay cuts to stop layoffs. What are you guys willing to do bring the guys that were layed off back? Who really gets screwed in this whole deal is the utilities. They dont make as much as Local 89. I agree that you guys earn the money. all i am saying is that in a poor economy with layoffs and unemployement up this is a bad time to to lose business for UPS. Go to scott davis house and picket there, just leave the customers be.
I work in mobile tv I have a commercial license, I'm the conductor of a multi million dollar production truck.
If I don't get paid, the truck doesn't move, and I toss the keys in the lake or off the bridge, jump a plane and fly home, call up and say find the keys the truck is parked at the truck stop if it hasn't been towed. Guess what? -- I'm always paid what I ask for and the truck always rolls. All these UPS pilots have to do is say we're not flying if our mechanics are under paid. PERIOD
"Know thyself, be thy master" actually very happy, and really solid. My boss's love me and always pay, and take care of me or the truck doesn't move. It's common sense!
So what you are saying is instead of doing the job you are paid for you Blackmail your employer into paying you more or you dont do your job. That is plain stupid! Dude if you hate UPS so much then quit. Seems to me even $43.58 hour isnt worth being this angry. Also on a side note. I hope the 420 in your signon doesnt mean what I think it means! Let the negotiators do their thing and quit taking food out of other peoples mouth!!!!
Ok, FYI, UPS mechanics make 43.58 an hour if they work 3rd shift. Obviously, you are an unskilled manager that again tries to persuade this battle as being about money. You must not have watched the video. Secondly, southwest airline mechanics will be making over 53 an hour by contract end, yet the airline itself has not made 1 penny profit in over 9 months! What might you say to that?
Back in 1995 I asked my center supervisor that I'd like to go to school to fly the UPS planes, I was a package driver... they all laughed at me... so much for the old "we hire from within routine"
Instead of putting me through school ( really using the hiring from within routine) after I had asked to go to school and asked what do I need to do to become a UPS pilot, they found away to terminate me for a temporary work related injury using the work comp court, intrinsic fraud, without informing the WC judge, as the judge would have denied the illegal actions of UPS lawyers
It sure is, these UPS mechanics should be making $60 to $80 plus an hour if you want to talk about money, so it is very irresponsible on UPS managements part, and how much does the flight crew and pilots make an hour since you wanna talk money? Lets just say for example the pilot makes $125 an hour? If you're the pilot, don't you want your mechanics to be happy when they fix the plane? As a pilot Id want my mechanic to be paid as much as me... they make the plane fly. Geeez
But I get the point

Stop with the pictures that have nothing to do with foreign maintenance like the speed bird 777 that was design flaw
