  • hut ab,hätt mir eingemacht.....

  • What a waste of good German Armor and elite soldier's during the Kursk offensive. If only Hitler was kept out of the fight. Von Manstein should have been left alone to lead this army to Victory at "The Citadel".

  • Guderian and Manstein, greatest strategists of the Eastern Front. Koniev and Zhukov, most prolific wasters of human life on the Eastern Front.

  • there wasnt a decisive soviet victory in Kursk...casualties on soviet side have been tremendously higher than german ones and newer numbers from open russian archives speak of up to 6000 russian tanks losses...the offensive was broken off when the allied landing in Sicily took place and some divisions where redirected which resulted in insufficient forces to continue...it was a strategic russian victory only for the fact that russia could replace the losses while Germany couldnt

  • @chris99103 Only one SS panzer division went to Italy, after handing it's surviving tanks to other divisions. The defeat of the German attack at Orel and Soviet attacks on the Mius river made it clear the German hopes for victory were over. But the German defeat at Kursk in itself wasn't decisive you're right, it was the fact the Soviets were simply stronger in every battle in every place that was key.

The Germans needed to make peace as they were simply being overpowered.

  • @summerlight67 thats just half the truth..the situation in the south was stable and Mannstein insisted in pushing forward but Hilter ordered the main core attack units from the south region to other theathres: "Grossdeutschland" was taken off to go to Orel and "Leibstandarte" was commanded to Italy...

anyway the attack should have been carried out immediately after the decisive german victory in Charkow in March 43 as by then russian forces where exhausted and overstretched but Hilter denied

  • @chris99103 The situation in the south was disastrous, 600 Russian tanks were over the Mius and it took Das Reich, Totenkopf, Wiking and 23rd Panzer to detroy them. All these were forces Manstein wanted for continuing his attack at Kursk. If he had done so the Russians would have advanced from the Mius north up behind Kharkov to cut his supplies or driven west to threaten the Crimea. The Germans would have been scrabbling back from Kharkov to try to save the whole southern front.

  • @summerlight67

Manstein wanted to wear the Russians down bit by bit but Hitler´s decision for senseless offensives was a decisive factor. Defend and slowly fall back behind new built defenses would have given the Russians a real hard time. The Russians were beatable - see WW1

  • @celshad it wouldn't have changed the outcome really If they followed Manstein or Guderian. It would have only prolonged the defeat the war for it self was already lost in 1942 once the German Reich declared war to the US and the Sovietunion started to use the full advantage of mass production as all of their factories have been completely rebuild deep behind the front out of reach for German bombers.

  • @CrniWuk

i´m pretty sure it would. The Russians paid a tremendous toll. They even got a shortage in fighting men in late 1943 so that they had to drew women into the field. That´s why Molotov begged for a second front to Churchill and Roosevelt.Hiitler on the other hand lost precious men, machines and supplies when he ordered these useless offensives. Tiger tanks proved to be formidable obstacles on the open fields in Russia. A proper defensive can play a vital part, beating or....

  • @CrniWuk

holding back an enemy for a long time. Kesselring proved this when the Allies landed in Italy. Even heavily outnumbered he could withstand the enemies for a long time, cause effective losses on their side and then fall back into another built up line which almost completely wore them off. For your interest the Russians did the same in the middle of the war which was also quite effective. So with a genius General it could have been possible.

  • @celshad I agree, mANSTEIN surely was the genius...and if all failed maybe a peace would have happend

  • @celshad

whishfull thinking about hypothetical situations. For a positive change for the Germans in WW2 quite many things would had to happen. Much of it would would had to be about "luck". Germany never was never about long wars. Already in 1941 when they lost around Moscow it was pretty obvious the war could not be won. And particularly not with 1943 with the USA, Britain and other nations on the side of the Allies. As said. The war would have only ended maybe around 46 or something

  • @summerlight67 if and how this would have affected the course of the war is another story but if Mannstein would have been assigned "Supreme Commander in the East" his mobile warfare maybe had caused enough russian losses that peace maybe could have been achieved but Hitlers stubborness and his stupid orders of "holding line" was against the way the Wehrmachts achieved all its victorys: Outmaneuvering and outperforming enemy forces and it still worked as Charkow 43 is proove of that

  • @chris99103 Hitler's orders made things even more hopeless but a mobile defence based on counter-attack would not have halted the Soviets. They had such huge armored reserves that they could have smothered German counter attacks with yet more armor. They lost 8,000 tanks over July and August over the whole front and yet still had enough to advance everywhere. The Germans inflicted maximum armor losses but it wasn't enough, mobile war would have still run into the same numbers problem.

  • great documentary man.

i dont why wikipedia says it was a russian victory. The only reason why it was a russian victory is because germany lost many of its resource, but the russians if one russian dies 5 more would take his place.

  • if one russian dies, five others shall take his place.

if one american dies, five thousands of them shall go to demonstration against the war and five milliard dollars will be invested in to unmanned aircrafts - to kill safely, for great justice.

  • fantastic video, 5 stars and really good music.

  • ich bin opfer von idioten das ist der jetzige krieg!!und ich hab kein rückhalt bin tod existiere nicht bin zum opfer von verräter gefallen!!von meinen eigenen leuten hinterhalt bin öfters opfer von hinterhalt!!

  • Nice propaganda, tagirov82. If you come up with numbers of tanks used and lost, I hope you have reliable sources. I can't believe you've been there and counted every tank and at in this battle.

  • @fischech

My Grandfather has been on Prohorovka.

  • I've seen lots of documentaries of the kursk battle, but this is way way better, thanks for uploading !

  • @PerfektesAlibi thanks, new videos coming soon ;-)

  • @12558654 excellent video!!!can you tell me the name of the music you used?

  • Battle of Prokhorovka is one of the biggest Soviet myths and fantasies. Claimed to have been biggest in history. But here are the facts:

    10.7.43: Soviet 393 APV's, Germany 109 APV's

    11.7.43: Soviet 421 APV's Germany 99 APV's

    12.7.43: Soviet 167 APV's Germany 92 APV's

So in 11th of July 1943 at Prokhorovka there were maximum number of just 520 russian or german APV's. So far from the biggest tank battle in history. Another "Great Patriotic War" fairy tale.

  • @tranmere789

It course-biggest battle in history.you were not there!

  • @tagirov82

Perhaps biggest myth but hardly biggest battle. And if we follow the official Soviet losses figures we will notice that Soviets lost 1 614 tanks and assault guns and Germans 323 tanks, assault guns, tankdestroyers and self-propelled guns. So hardly at all victory for Soviet. Loss rate was actually 1:5 or 1:6 if we take the numbers by Frieser (Soviet losses 1 956 APVs, Germans the same 323)

  • @tranmere789 so what is ur point? That this was not Russian victory cose they lost 5-6 tanks while destroying 1 german? Your numbers are corect, but also i think u know that 11 t34 cost equally as 1 tiger. I will not mention how much ferdinands were usseles and how much did they cost. I will not mention how long took to train german crews and how long russians. So if u still dont understand why this is russian victory go and learn math.

    Konstantin Konstantinowitsch Rokossowski,

    Iwan Stepanowitsch Konew,

    Nikolai Fjodorowitsch Watutin

  • Greatest battle!!!
