  • Amplifiers cannot clean up a signal, they only amplify it. So says the laws of electrodynamics. Also, amping your zune without a true line out double amplifies it, and if you listend to your very nice sleek audio headphones through that there is no way they sound better. If they do, its just a placebo. My current rig is just my iphone + my UE10 customs

  • 3DS and Apple Earphones :)

  • you should get a galaxy player 4.0

  • I think its a waste of money...i just use my regular apple earphones and they are fine for me

  • O_O I will never ever know as much about audio equipment as this guy.

  • Dude, which one sounds better - Zune or Cowon?

  • im using my ihpone 4s and skullcandy 50/50 in ears

  • @aznism101 HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

  • @Halosaurus99 how is that funny?

  • @aznism101 because most skullcandys are not as good as most people think they are

  • Skullcandy titans best bass for under $50

  • @TurnipPodcast pahahahahahhahaha! funniest thing i've heard all week

  • I have beats by dre's and they are better than millions of other earphones out there, but lets be honest they dont compare to a lot of them out there too...

  • about that zo review...

  • Your so lucky !!

  • I have the ath m50s too. Which of ur 2 amps d'u think suits them better the Zo or the e7 ??? (judging by the neutrality of the sound)

  • @geniuSIDroid get the fiio e11, its a better amp than the e7 and its cheaper, the e7 is more cause its a USB DAC too...e11 would be ideal for the m50's

    (havent used the zo personally)

  • wow thats a nice iphone bumper !

  • would u suggest the shire srh840's i am currently using the beats by dre studio which are terribleeeeeeeeeeee

  • Snazzy, do low-ish end headphones with Dynamic Drivers benefit from a heaphone AMP\DAC?

And is it worth my time and money to order that DigiZoid zo2?

    -thanks

  • @boiiazz better headphones are more worth it than amping poor headphones.

  • @boiiazz il try to help you out, what headphones are you specifically referring to?

    it depends

  • Do you use the RoCoo over the Zune now?

  • i have the audio technicas m-50 as my headphones. if im not using those i use my miles davis tribute earbuds. these are powered by my fiio e6 and fiio 3 LOD line out dock. and my player is a ipod nano 6th gen but im getting a touch soon

  • @boyscout244 i would suggest a better amp... e6 is great for money but still sorta meh

  • A $700 customs are used less and less? Man, the world of audiophilia sure is scary... but glad that I already own the Atrios!

  • i cant find the mog app

  • When I'm just outside or in school I usually have my iPhone and my Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Studios with me, when I'm outside and don't plan on meeting/talking to anyone I use the FIIO E5 Headphone amp with either the Philips SHE6010 for classical music and old school rock and the XePort 7010for basically any other type of music, but i don't really like my monster Headphones and I'm planning on getting the Audio Technica ATH-M50.

  • i want a zune hd with sennheiser hd448

  • Ath m40fs

  • a $150+ pair of headphones...cheap...haha...oh god -___-

  • @obviousoblivious94

    Google the Staxx SR009.

Yes, the $150 for a pair of headphones are quite cheap in audiophilic standards.

  • Do you think Audio-Technica ATH M40FS + Fiio E6 + iPod Touch + 320kbps MP3 files are any good? Please answer, Quinn. :D

  • @thegtalover

I'm not Quinn, but as he's prbly too busy to answer..

Though, I'm not too big of a fan of the M40f's as there are a bit more better options out there for the price, the Fiio E6 and the Touch should be able to drive it. Though, I would reccomend a decent LOD cable as the Apple Amplifiers are absolutely terrible, made even worse by re-amping with the headphone output. A fiio L9 should do.

    Hope I helped.

  • @RamenBowlKing Thank you very much for the reply. I forgot to include the L3 LOD from Fiioin my previous comment. Considering that the M40fs are currently (as of 02/18/12) $54,55 in Amazon, what are the other better options for the price? Thanks again and yes you did help! :)

  • @thegtalover Hmm...

Well I forgot that the M40f's are closed back...

However, if you are willing to sacrifice quite a bit of isolation:

Definently take a look at the Koss Portapro or the Sennheiser PX100.

Or maybe even the HTF600 for more warmth.

There is also the Equation Audio EP3070 for a closed back option, though it won't sound as good as the portapro or the Px100.

Everything above has great warmth and depth.

If you want a bass head experience, look at the XB500/700.

  • @thegtalover For clarity, you would want something like the

    Sennheiser 428

    The outrageous looking Superlux Hd668B

If you can cough up 20 more bucks- the Creative Aurvana Live, tip-top clarity.. One of my all-time favorites... at the cost of isolation..

    Sony MDR- V6

  • @RamenBowlKing Well I've got to say I've got plenty of options to choose from now. Really appreciate it. :) I'm currently rocking my ATH-M40fs and well I've been through maybe less than 4 hours of playback through them, so I'd say that they're not fully burnt in, but I'm fairly impressed with them. Although I sometimes feel that I didn't buy the most adequate pair for the use that I'm actually going to give them, they have not actually let me down in the short time that I have had them.

  • @RamenBowlKing And I say it's not the most adequate par of headphones because they're meant for studio/monitoring use... At least that's what I've understood so far. But yeah, I've been playing around with the EQ settings built-in in the Fiio E6 and also the ones on the iPod itself. But, still, I fell that I could be getting more out of the $70+ I spent on both the M40fs and the Fiio E6, plus the LOD.

  • Is the Fiio e17 a better option than the e7?

  • Ok so i know you only use macs but when you buy the Zune how do you get audio files on to it from a mac? ~recently sold pc~

  • I, too, noticed the Spotify app update...

  • Quinn, Spotify has made an update to there service now giving the consumer the option to stream in 320Kb/s, thus making it better than MOG.

  • @jacktrav5 He made this video before the update

  • mine is an iphone 4 with whatever headphones i want, usually skullcandy in ears

  • iPhone (ALAC) > Fiio L3 > Fiio E11 > RE262

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy i have a question. Do you think that getting one of those amplifiers would make the sound better for a pair of sennheiser HD 280 pros? please answer

  • Have you ever tried any of the hifimans? Or the cowons that most audiophiles use? Also, there's a FLAC player on the iPhone iTunes store, does it make any difference in playback?

  • @pkLipe HiFiMAN players in terms of sound quality is pretty much second to none; however, they're so bulky and ugly. I recently (in the past week) moved to the hisoundaudio Rocoo-P and it's pretty fantastic considering that it's only $170. There are apps that support FLAC, although you most likely won't notice a difference between that and like 320 kbps AAC or MP3.

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy I used to only download 320kbps mp3s, and now that I'm using this FLAC player, I noticed a huge difference comparing the same songs (it's louder at the least). I'll check out this Rocoo-P, and I actually like the HiFiMAN style =P

    Thanks for the response anyway.

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy when will you review the Zo?

  • Comment removed

  • I wana have one!

  • my portable audio rig is a psp with some sony 11 dollars in ear headphones XD

  • My rig is a zune too!

    Zune 30Gb -> FiiO E7 / ZO (Yes you read that) -> Vsonic GR07 / TF10

DT1350, Fiio E17 on their way. Gna be very happy

  • @MaattyCee download songs in "FLAC" file format.

  • Excellent video Quinn. Very informative!

  • Spotify actually can stream up to 320, but I think it does it much less often (need better connection) than MOG or something like that...

  • i have a pair of Yuin PK3 earphnes, but im looking into the V-Moda M80s for headphones. No amp.

  • Do you use Voodoo on your Android? If not, I'd look into it if I were you.

  • great video mate :)

Was looking into the ZO with my TFTA 1XB's (i don't need more bass, but clarity is always a plus) and mostly to use at home with my Denon D2000's

  • Beats are great if ur listening to a CD quality song and using an amp.

  • and the rain reason is

  • The more and more I see the Fanny Wangs the more I want them they look great and sexy I might have to pull out the old debit card to order them lol

  • GALAXY NOTE FTW!! WORLDS GREATEST PHONE

  • doe winpho 7.5 have the same audio quality as the zune hd?

  • @MaattyCee go into iTunes preferences, then import settings, and choose "Apple lossless" as the format. Alternatively google "FLAC encoder" for a more versatile format if you don't use Apple devices. There's a few options, I use XAct on my Mac.

  • @GofreMcNoodle Thanks again mate :3

now i can listen on some high quality music.

  • where do you get a zune hd?

  • Nice ! How about Beats ? Beats Pro , Studio , Tour & Power ? They're are VERY good . ZO2 is cool ! Never heard of an amplifier not until today . What's the second headphones ?

  • @TheVeggiePau No.

  • @TheVeggiePau Beats doesn't compare with the headphones in this vid.

  • @TheVeggiePau Go back and watch snazzyiphoneguy's older videos or ask any audiophile, all Beats are not good, in fact they're truly horrific for the price(s) they charge. They are outperformed by cans less than a fifth of the price.

  • Quick question: What's your opinion the onboard audio on an MBP? Is it worth it to spend less on headphones and get an external amp (maybe $100 total at most)? I want my setup to be fairly minimal (no amp is preferred), yet have decent audio quality.

  • Anny one know when the sleek audio sa6-r will be out

  • What setup do you prefer for your car?

  • hey how do you rip a music from an album with a high quality and high bitrate? i only have songs that are few mb and 128 bitrate :(

    please help :3

  • @shin1300 Do you want high bitrate tracks in a standard format or fully lossless?

  • @GofreMcNoodle if possible both, a high quality music file with fully lossless that would make my hearing experience better :)

  • @shin1300 Go into iTunes Preferences and choose import settings, it will allow you to pick your format and underneath that you can select your bitrate (higher the better, obviously). Apple lossless (ALAC) is here if you want easy lossless files. Once you've clicked ok any future CD imports will be ripped in your chosen format. If you want other lossless formats like FLAC, you'll have to find another program to do it. I use XAct. Bare in mind you'll need some decent cans to notice the difference,

  • @GofreMcNoodle Thanks mate, im planning on buying some fiio e7 to see if v-moda m80 is really good.

now i only have to convert my music to a higher quality :3

  • @shin1300 No problem [= just bare in mind that upscaling your current MP3s won't make any difference if you convert them to FLAC, they've already been compressed. Go nuts on the CDs though, it's what I'm spending my weekend doing!

  • ipod classic 180gb

    razer electra(sexy)

planning to get an amp, e7 and the ath-m50, shure 440, sennheiser hd 439 or the soul sl150.. probably ill get sl150, they have great reviews and look way better imp

  • Where do you get uncompressed songs from the internet ?

  • @XJ0shTM Most websites offering FLAC content are pretty specialised by genre, what kind of music do you listen to the most?

  • Wouldn't say the M50's are hard to drive. I will say though that I've noticed some songs of mine through the zune hd are almost completely lacking in bass(at my normal listening volume) that I can easily hear in the songs through my computer(obviously has more driving power). Either way, the M50's are very easily driven compared to many other full sized cans out there.

  • Iphone 4 + fanny wang dj pro 2001's

  • I miss your old intro

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy what about (Poweramp) for andriod?

  • What do you think about beats?

  • @PetersFXfilms He's done videos about them. In short, they're horrible, and 99.9% of other audio enthusiasts will agree. Beats are dire considering the price tags they have.

  • e6 + iphone 3gs + hd25/shure se215 :D

oh and what's the best sounding smart phone, I'm either getting great portable mp3 player (zune hd or cowon j3) and simple small phone or I'm getting a smart phone for everything whats your opinion ?

  • Hey Quinn, any chance that you will be reviewing any SMS Audio headphones anytime soon?

  • ipod touch + koss porta pro = fun base

  • i prefer sennheiser headphones/earbuds personally. might have to get myself a portable preamp though. thats a good idea

  • how many kilobits does Last.FM stream at? im feeling 256...

  • I like to use the V-Moda Vibrato, Klipsch S4i and the Shure SE215.

  • I heard that you cant use 24/96 files with e7. could u explain this?

  • ipod classic with ibeats

  • hey quinn, i know you dont generally review skullcandy products but could you do a review for the skullcandy roc nation aviators please?!?!:D

  • I use an ipod touch and just the earphones that come with them

  • Iphone + a jays four

  • I'm not sure but do you have a video on how to get really high quality audio files onto your iPhone? If not can you make one or explain it?

    Cheers :)

  • wow... stock apple earbuds ftw!

  • Any plans for a V-Moda LP2 review? (not original lp) and/or the M80?

  • Imagine him using a Staxx Sr009.

They'll be jizz all over the place.

Course you need thousands more dollars for amps...

  • I listen to metal/thrash metal and I was wondering what kind of headphones would you guys recommend that I can purchase at Best Buy? Thanks!

  • iPod Touch 4 - Fanny Wang 2001 or JLAB j6

    That's it :)

  • Nice rig. But I prefer my Bang and Olufsen A8 earphones with an iPhone 4.

  • What case are you using on your iPhone?

  • my audio rig is ipod touch or samsung galaxy s II (herculis) headphones i use are beats by dre solo and earphones beats by dre tours but i am going to sell both and get souls by luda sl300 or what would you think is better quality for like bass and all that good stuff wont fade or anything at around 300 or less? and i use a external battery to charge my ipod or phone wastes fast battery

  • dude your my hero!!

  • Is there a link to the Clarity1 C1 webiste? Can't seem to find it.

  • Oh yeah Quinn, have you heard of the E10 or E17 amps/DACs by Fiio? They're successors to the E7.

  • Out and about HTC Radar/MacBook Pro---HifiMan HM-101/Fiio E10 --- Nuforce NE-700x/Sennheiser IE 8.

    Home and What Not Custom-Built PC (AMD FX 6100,32GB of RAM,7970 x2 in Crossfire,Creative X-Fi Titanium HD) ---Hifiman EF2A --- Ultrasone HFi-2400/Koss Pro DJ100/Hifiman HE-500.

  • iPhone 4 > FiiO E6 > FiiO L3 > Monster Turbine Copper Pro

  • Right here we go, n00b question inbound : How do you use an amplifier? >.< I know its job is to increase sound quality but how do you use it and how do you connect it to your device... And btw before you think I probs have the worst headphones ever well I use the Klipsch Image S4's.

  • You should mention that the Zune HD has been canceled from production.

  • @rthrgh I don't really see how that's necessary... it doesn't make it a bad music player. I actually bought my ZuneHD after it was discontinued...

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy do all zunes have good sound quality or is it just the hd

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy Yeah you can still buy them. I saw one at Best Buy for just $100.

  • @ThatSnazzyiPhoneGuy I agree that it doesn't make it a bad music player, upon reflection I realized that if you included it in there, it would not have been useful in terms of the point of the video.

  • My portable rig: iPod Classic > Ray Samuels SR-71b Balanced Portable Amp > Beyer Dynamic T1 with balanced silver cables.

Yes, thats a 3000$ portable rig right there...And I'm just a student, not some richkid :)

  • Quinn, is that a Speck Pixelskin HD on your iPhone?

  • iPhone 4S - Fiio E7 - Miles Davis Tribute <3

  • I had no idea what a headphone amplifier was until now and I'm almost convinced I need one. I have a very noob question: Will the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones work okay on an iPhone 4S without a headphone amplifier?

  • @lunardrip the M-50s were very loud with my ipod touch 1G so yes, they aren't that hard to drive, any louder will hurt your ears

  • Hi Quinn! Nice setup bro!

    Mine is Cowon J3 > E11 > ATH M50

What do you think of the cowon J3? Have you tried them? I dont have a zune but people from head-fi says that the SQ is better than the Zune because of its BBE and JetEffects feature. I really do hope I can hear your thoughts about this. Thanks for making such cool videos. And as always, I stay snazzy. Thanks!

  • Am I the only one addicted to the intro?

  • Quinn, it sounds like you're breathing helium in this video!

  • how do you get such high quality audio files?

  • which iphone case is that on your iphone?

  • lol my iphone, and the ma 350's you recommended!

  • lololol zune was discontinued. hahahahaha

  • @justintvinhd but it has higher audio quality.

  • @justintvinhd still was discontinued

  • Klipsch Image S4 with an iPod touch or my Galaxy Ace.

  • Cowon iAudio7, NwAvGuy O2 Headphone Amp, Jays q-Jays, Sennheiser HD25-1-ii

  • beats by dre suck ass im not just kidding

  • @RidinTwenties how?

  • @RidinTwenties dont b hatin my studios let me hear da m0sic da way dre meant it 2 b herd yo.

  • @prahnitsua How much are they and where can I purchase one at? (I listen to mostly metal and thrash metal)

  • iPhone and urbanears plattan

  • How do the Audio Technicas compare with the Bose QC15s? I would like to try the Audio Technica someday. If only I weren't a broke high school student. lol

  • @MingRoseC They're quite different sounding since the QC15's are active noise canceling. The A-T (I'm guessing you're referring to the M50's) are a lot bigger but have a better low range. The Bose's midrange is a lot more prominent, or at least that's how I thought when I used them. The A-T's also have a much more flat EQ, which is why they're marketed as "Studio" headphones. They are still really fun to listen to, though. An amp would probably be needed. I'd choose my M50's in a heartbeat.

  • Sansa Clip+, Hippo VB ("Fun IEMs"), Phonak Audeo PFE 112, Audio Technica ATH-M50

  • iPod touch 32gb, audio technica ath-m50

  • can we get a review of the incase sonic headphones?

  • when will the review of the xeport headphones be coming out?

  • I am going to be buying some fanny wnag Headphones today, Hope they are worth it!!!

  • anyone have any views/opinions on the digizoid zo2 ?

  • My audio rig is my iphone 4s, a fiio e6, and srh840. I use a line out of the 30 pin connector to connect it to the e6.

  • which case do you got on you're iPhone love the color :P

  • Klipsch image one's and ipod touch or HTC evo. BTW you should do a review on the Klipsch image ones I think they have amazing sound.

  • My preferable Audio rig would be the one you have excepting blue and the first in-ear headphone headphone showed - also the phones and audio player would be amazing !

  • ATH-m50s, android powered phone.

  • And really good rig snazzy i want a pair of sleek CT7s

  • Zune HD 32GB Fio E7 With The Bose QC 15

  • @thatsnazzyiphoneguy Where do you download/buy your music from? Where can we get the highest quality in music?

  • @Awesomenessquared CDs provide FLAC files with excellent quality.

  • Your voice sounded so weird in this video lol nice vid though

  • I want an zune hd...

  • i like the way u said 700 Dollar
