  • Wonderfully played and thank you for separating it into parts.

  • Very sensitive and expressive interpretation.

    Thank you for posting.

  • I've got to say, this is the best rendition of Koyunbaba not done by John Williams on YouTube. I can play this piece too, and can see where I need to work on it. Beautiful guitar you have.

  • WOW! Smoken Joe: great job on a difficult but fun piece to play. Good tempo and tone. Really nice job.

    David

  • dude. how old are you. you look young

  • I've been listening to your music for hours and I feel so calm, Thank you. You are truely talented.

  • You plays good but what is that? At the beginning you plays so fast when it's better playing really more slow and let be surrounded by the the beauty of the song^^.

  • Love Carlo Domeniconi and you attached it nicely Joe! By listening it takes me out to Istanbul.

  • thanks.

I've never been in Istanbul yet:)

    That's so true!

    Fabulous interpretation!!!

    5 stars.

  • thanks for comment and voting.

  • Beautiful sound really.

some parts need to be speeded up i guues maybe im just used to lie jie's interpretation but it stills sounds perfect:)

  • Thanks for comment.

I used 2 weeks to play and record Koyunbaba I & II when I changed new strings. It's kind of long piece for me. I still had to read part of it while recording. I just expected to be able to finish them in a "ok" speed. It was fun to play:)

  • wow...you play so great.....love the interpretation.

  • thanks.

  • again 5 stars from me for one of your guitarsongs. You are on a very high professional level. All the best Ibuki from germany

  • thanks for your vote & comment.

    i'm not a pro. though.

  • Sorry to critize, I like your playing. But there is something about your nylon strings that keep annoying me. Maybe they're too loose. Maybe you need to have a luthier fix it. The point is that produces a little noise sometimes.

  • Thanks for comment.

I was using LaBella 2001 Classical MHT. It shouldn't be too loose.

I think the noise was caused by the technique problem of both of my hands.

  • Hmm... Really, I even wonder about this opinion that there is any problem with sound at all. As for me, it is one of the best versions of Koyunbaba on the YouTube, including quality of sound, by the way.

  • Thanks.

  • Great performance! You've found the perfect tempo balance, lots of people play it a little too fast or slow for my liking. Nice guitar too =)

  • I really enjoy your playing. You have great interpretation and emotion. For the amateur, perfect technique is less important then good interpretation. The only reason I even bring that up is because of the negative comments here just seem like nit-picking.

  • Negative comments are welcome. As long as I can learn something:-)

  • It's Koyunbaba, not Koyubaba.

  • Thanks! My mistake.

  • BTW good guitar, good recording, and good playing! This sounds like the kind of guitar I'd like to have. What brand is it, and what are the materials?

  • Sounds fine. Would sound even better if your first string was in tune. It's slightly flat.

Why not pluck the accompany notes with the melody at 0:51 - 1:00 together instead of plucking the bass a little before the treble?

    Show us your face too!

  • Thanks for your comment.

I didn't think that way. I did want to slow down & soften a bit @ that time. Why have to pluck together?

  • Pluck together because they are written together.

Treble note is directly over the bass note. There's not a 1/16th note rest over the bass with the treble coming in slightly after it.

  • Ok, I'll pay attention at that place next time. Thanks again.

John Williams did the same thing @ measure 24. It sounds better for me @ that place.

  • If it genuinly sounds better to you then do it like that.

But don't do it just because someone else does it.

All that does is tomake you a copy cat.

No one likes that. Why bother playing the piecs if all you're doing is copying someone note by note?

After all most people have already heard Williams playing this piece. Now they're here on this page because they want to hear YOU play it.

  • I think you misunderstand. Of course Every one can see it's written together on the sheet music. I agree you suggestion may sound better. I just give out a counter example about this topic, and want to know in what situation people have to follow the rule strictly, in what situation don't.

BTW: Measure 24 is at much later time. It's not the place you were talking.

  • Bravo!! Bravo!! A brilliant rendition.
