  • The part with Cookie Monster and the food stand practically freaked me out! I wonder who's going to pay the vendor for the damage, and how much the damage would cost.

Statler: Woah! Did you see that?

Waldorf: I sure did. What a mess!

Statler: Soda cans and ketchup & mustard squirters everywhere.

Waldorf: Bob really should watch what he says.

Statler: How much do you think he'd pay for the damage?

Waldorf: Probably a lot. Not that I'm the one paying for it. *they both laugh*

  • They SHOULD have a Big Bird statue!

  • Long Live TMMOA!!!!

  • HUZZAH!!!!

  • FTW

  • OMG!

  • LOL

  • GO COOKIE!!!!

  • @mattmartenson Actually, This Was Taped In 1982-1983

  • 2 guards ate the pictures.

  • @DarkToboki No, They Haven't!

  • @cstoczyn I was talking about the dislikes...

  • @DarkToboki O I C

  • Oscar's snickering at slide by at 2:18 is priceless...surprised no one's made an animated gif of it.

  • Did Cookie Monster say Hot Dog dad? or Hot Dog stand? before he was about to eat it?

  • @517wiiface Thanks

  • And why was Big Bird trying to be being a statue?

  • Comment removed

  • Big Bird is not really a statue.

  • Cookie Monster is like Taz.

  • "We were here all night and NOBODY bothered us!"

Even when I was a little kid I felt bad for Big Bird though because I knew nobody was going to believe him. I also felt bad that nobody but him thought Snuffy was real.

  • what a shitty guard

  • The best thing is we don't have to worry about this being removed, because Sesame Workshop is usually okay with their content being posted on YouTube.

  • Gordon's line at 0:39 pretty much gives away the big ending.

  • does the guard ever go home

  • I can't believe it! If Statler and Waldorf were in this and they saw what Cookie Monster was doing to the food stand on their way to the museum, this is what their reaction would be:

Statler: Did you see what I just saw?

Waldorf: I sure did. What a mess! Ketchup and mustard bottles, and soda cans everywhere!

Statler: He sure can devour stuff like that hot dog stand.

Waldorf: I'll say, he should've been called Anything Monster! *they both laugh and a soda can rolls past them*

  • A Volkswagen Beetle...now a hot dog stand...what won't Cookie Monster eat?!?

  • Big Bird had Bob, David, Olivia, Linda, Maria, Gordon and Susan all worried sick.

  • After Mr. Gordon paid for everyone's food at the nearby McDonalds, he had Big Bird commited at Bellvue for delusional ideations. Unfortunately, Big Bird was never quite the same after he was released 5 months later.

  • This is funny!!! Cookie Monster ate the Hot Dog stand in the wheels. Its like Cookie Monster in Candyland!

  • Cookie Monster is such a glutton!

  • Im still stuck with the song: Don't eat the pictures!...no!...no!...no!..... :D

  • Wonder how much of that table actually wnet into his mouth.

  • Cookie Monster: Now banned for life from one hot dog stand in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

  • 1,005,623 pictures! (And one guard.)

  • @CrazyCheeseMagee GO COUNT!!!!

  • I'm not so sure Cookie Monster was ever welcome back at that hot dog cart. :)

Love 4:30 and the cart owner's reaction!

  • WOW! I was wondering, who do think had to pay the vendor for the damage done to the hot dog stand, and how much?

  • Comment removed

  • How much do you think Bob had to pay the hot dog vendor for the damage done to the hot dog stand?

  • I understand that Bob was the one who had to pay for what Cookie Monster did to the hot dog stand, but what I would like to know is how much Bob had to pay for the damage done.

  • Bob should have watched his words better. Also, did anyone NOT expect what Cookie wanted to eat? lolol

  • Thank you so much for uploading the entire special!!! I have been trying to remember it for the longest time and today I actually got to share this old and special memory with my daughter. You made an old lady and little girl smile today.

  • And it better be good!

  • Wow, Cookie Monster's got quite the appetite.

  • i'll take my friends at hawthorne to my museum

  • You know what i think Bert? I think that George Washington caught a cold.

  • "Are you the guard here?"

    "..yeah"

"Well, good work! We were ALL night and nobody bothered us!" One of my favorite parts of the special.

Plus, I wonder how the vendor is going to explain to his boss what happened to his cart.

  • Ohhhh....Cookie Monster.....-___- He's a hopeless cause. But that's what makes him cute ^^ Awesome vid ^__^ They got some of their egyptian facts wrong but I like how it played to children in a way.

  • LOL I feel sorry for the hotdog stand owner.

  • Cookie Monster is too cute for words to say!

    At 3:52, he is adorable!

It's hilarious what he does to the hot dog stand!

  • rofl @ the hot dog stand scene..

  • YIKES!! He totally mutallated that hot dog stand! BTW, Do YOU know who payed for the damage done to the hot dog stand AND how much?

  • Caroline Kennedy cameo at 1:50

  • But I still can't watch it even though I'm now an adult. Did any of you suffer this too as a child. Yet I did come up with a joke about it and that is me imagining the vendor thinking, "How am I ever going to tell the boss?!".

  • When I first saw this, I looked away during that sudden agenda at the end because I thought it was too gruesome to watch. I posted a question on its message board on The Internet Movie Database saying if anymore remembered what was left of the stand and got an answer that really reassured me. And that was that it ws pretty evident that it was replaced with a spray-painted styrofoam double. I thought Jim was out of his mind to put something like that in the script though.

  • if cookie monster ate the pictures, he would die of toxic pigment poisoning, such as lead white, the cobalts and the cadmiums. thank goodness he exhibited self control

  • Awe c'mon, he totally wouldn't. He's COOKIE MONSTER.

  • on million pictures and one guard ghahahahaa

  • Real vampires don't sparkle...they COUNT! :D

  • @Fuleadeare O I C

  • Wow. Cookie Monster just ruined that poor man.

  • That was unbelievable! I really liked the part where Big Bird pretended to be a statue at the end. But I wonder who will be paying for the damage done to the hot dog stand.

  • never let it be said that cookie monster has no fiber in his diet, i think the hotdog guy was george burns you know, the guy who smokes the cigar's all the time!

  • I bought this vhs a couple of years ago on ebay but haven't had the time to rip it to digital. Thank you for posting it! It is one of my all time faves (and one of the reasons why I work in art museums today).

  • I Feel bad for the guy that owned that Hot Dog Stand

  • This is the best SESAME STREET special next to "Big Bird in China" and "Big Bird in Japan". Children can be entertained and at the same time be educated without being aware of it.

  • omggggg i loveeeee snufffffffyyyyyy yay snufffy ur mi favvvvvv!!!!!!<3

  • "Good Job, we were here all night...and nobody bothered us." LOL...:)

  • LOLLLLLL, he ate the Hot Dog Stand!

  • Sure sounded like Cookie had been looking at the art for weeks on end!

  • Yeah, but I loved the expressions on everyone's faces!

  • Yeah, me too. Especially that Hot Dog Vendor's! :D

  • When it was broadcasted on television does it have the 1971 PBS logo?

  • Nah definitely 80's material. This came out when I was three, and I'm and 80's child :)

  • I could be wrong but I believe this came out in 1983 and was first on HS in 1987. I was born in the 90's but I grew up on 80's leftovers. :)

  • Me want to eat hot dog... STAND!

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • i never this one before, are thier any others that you have around.

  • that's stand

  • so do i

  • LOL, Cookie Monster totally pwned that hot dog stabd.

  • "Me want to eat hot dog...STAND!!!"

    Classic Cookie Monster, man!

  • Maria: BECAUSE WE LOVE YOU!!! NOW, WHERE WERE YOU??!!

Lol. I got a chuckle out of that.

Count: One million five hundred and... whatever he said pictures and one guard.

That many pics in the Metropolitian Museum of Art? That sounds interesting. I'll have to visit the area some time.

  • @Daffyfan2006 Big Bird, you know you're not supposed to wander off by yourself.
