The part with Cookie Monster and the food stand practically freaked me out! I wonder who's going to pay the vendor for the damage, and how much the damage would cost.
Statler: Woah! Did you see that?
Waldorf: I sure did. What a mess!
Statler: Soda cans and ketchup & mustard squirters everywhere.
Waldorf: Bob really should watch what he says.
Statler: How much do you think he'd pay for the damage?
Waldorf: Probably a lot. Not that I'm the one paying for it. *they both laugh*
Even when I was a little kid I felt bad for Big Bird though because I knew nobody was going to believe him. I also felt bad that nobody but him thought Snuffy was real.
The best thing is we don't have to worry about this being removed, because Sesame Workshop is usually okay with their content being posted on YouTube.
I can't believe it! If Statler and Waldorf were in this and they saw what Cookie Monster was doing to the food stand on their way to the museum, this is what their reaction would be:
Statler: Did you see what I just saw?
Waldorf: I sure did. What a mess! Ketchup and mustard bottles, and soda cans everywhere!
Statler: He sure can devour stuff like that hot dog stand.
Waldorf: I'll say, he should've been called Anything Monster! *they both laugh and a soda can rolls past them*
After Mr. Gordon paid for everyone's food at the nearby McDonalds, he had Big Bird commited at Bellvue for delusional ideations. Unfortunately, Big Bird was never quite the same after he was released 5 months later.
I understand that Bob was the one who had to pay for what Cookie Monster did to the hot dog stand, but what I would like to know is how much Bob had to pay for the damage done.
Thank you so much for uploading the entire special!!! I have been trying to remember it for the longest time and today I actually got to share this old and special memory with my daughter. You made an old lady and little girl smile today.
Ohhhh....Cookie Monster.....-___- He's a hopeless cause. But that's what makes him cute ^^ Awesome vid ^__^ They got some of their egyptian facts wrong but I like how it played to children in a way.
But I still can't watch it even though I'm now an adult. Did any of you suffer this too as a child. Yet I did come up with a joke about it and that is me imagining the vendor thinking, "How am I ever going to tell the boss?!".
When I first saw this, I looked away during that sudden agenda at the end because I thought it was too gruesome to watch. I posted a question on its message board on The Internet Movie Database saying if anymore remembered what was left of the stand and got an answer that really reassured me. And that was that it ws pretty evident that it was replaced with a spray-painted styrofoam double. I thought Jim was out of his mind to put something like that in the script though.
if cookie monster ate the pictures, he would die of toxic pigment poisoning, such as lead white, the cobalts and the cadmiums. thank goodness he exhibited self control
That was unbelievable! I really liked the part where Big Bird pretended to be a statue at the end. But I wonder who will be paying for the damage done to the hot dog stand.
never let it be said that cookie monster has no fiber in his diet, i think the hotdog guy was george burns you know, the guy who smokes the cigar's all the time!
I bought this vhs a couple of years ago on ebay but haven't had the time to rip it to digital. Thank you for posting it! It is one of my all time faves (and one of the reasons why I work in art museums today).
This is the best SESAME STREET special next to "Big Bird in China" and "Big Bird in Japan". Children can be entertained and at the same time be educated without being aware of it.
