hey shug! i do alot of winter camping (down to -30c) normally shelter and on the ground, but I have started into the hammocking thing and quite like it. I have yet to buy under quilts and such, and haven't purchased a roof as light weight as cuben.

just curious what your full pack weight is with food, under quilt etc. on a sold hike. I am heading out for a few days and I just weighed in at 45 lbs.

@simsghost It depends on the particular trip and weather and length of time....but I would say 25 to 28 pounds for a winter trip. I have invested in a good deal of lightweight gear. Weight would go up a bit in sub 0º...

Great review! I've been looking into just carrying around one of these with my hammock I use for just lounging around camp. I mainly use a tarptent and haven't fully converted to hammocks yet but the more I see these video's, the more I want to. I found this toilet system by applebyoutdoor. love to hear a review!

Love all the videos! I got my first hammock (Blackbird Warbonnet) a little over a month ago. I love it. Just had to get another one for my son. I also just got the Maccat tarp and can't wait to use it. The cuban fiber looks great but it will have to wait. Keep the videos coming!

to be honest Shug 300 is not out of line . There many Cuben fiber tarps smaller than the one u have that are more money. Z pac I must say i do love your Videos silly but also not A good balance and help full to any one lookeing to lighten up there load . So how much would you half to spend to get started in using a hammock set up to lighter than a tent and do they take less room in your pack?

Cost...depends on the rig. Grand Trunk skeeter Beeters are 60. They have cheaper as well. Or you can spend more depending. My rig takes up around the same as my old tarp tent....not much room though plus they compact.

Gotta love storm crows work, just got a custom UQ and TQ. I've never seen cuben fiber up close but how does it compare strength wise to ripstop?

@lowclasshammock It is like spinntex...more fragile than silnylon or rip-stop. Very tough on the pull but it may poke easily. I'll see I guess. good thing is duct-tape sticks to cuben.

Believe it or not this is the closest I've come to a cuben fiber tarp. I've never looked at one, mainly because of sticker shock. I wouldn't sleep for a week if I burned a hole in it. Love the superUL weight & the "frosty" look of it.

I want one just because Shug has one . :-) How long are the guide lines using the no tangle? I see you had shock cord on them. Is no tangle slipper like zing it? Love the video. A video Idea is a closer look at your camp chair that everyone had on your trip to the gorge and your pillow.
