Eric Bogle is one of todays greatest songwriters. Some of his songs are profound a and often sad (eg The Band Played Waltzing Matilda, Now I'm Easy, or Willie McBride) and some are funny and whimsical, whle others, like this, or I wouldn't be Dead for Quids, are a bit of both, but all are well worth listening to. Thanks fopr the posting.
I have alway enjoyed this song - light yet profound.
I hope it make others smile while they think too.
It is Eric's only DVD. To quote him "I resisted making a DVD for years, but now I'm glad I did, it turned out OK. First and last one though, I won't make another."
@rdvqc It's a shame because there really isn't a lot of Eric Bogle videos on youtube, yet the man wrote some of the finest songs ever. I'm sure though there are video performances knocking about that he is not aware of!
@IrishandFolkmusic There certainly are a number of videos from various events on YouTube which has been a delight for me. Until this recent DVD I have only had audio versions of Eric's work - a number on vinyl and casette from the "old days" as well as a pretty good CD collection. He has long been on my list of fine songwriters. Some are silly, some are serious and most are profound in thought and thoroughly enjoyable musically.
