Look up TIME magazine or any published rankings. Worldwide Queen's is a very reputed institute. Do you even have a full high school education? How's the trailer park working out for you ? I wouldn't expect anything less than asinine, dimwitted , and misinformed chest thumping from an neo-con. Rather myopic view of the world you have there you inbred fuck.
And yes, Queen's chicks are pretty hot, but frigid.
Consider that Canada has less than 1/10 of our population. Yet they churn out disproportionate amounts of Medical research from their institutes such as UofT, McGill, UBC, McMaster, Concordia, UWO, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Laval and Waterloo. They do pretty damn well for themselves, considering that their average income is now higher than ours as well.
Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Rice, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Lehigh, NYU, and Emory aren't anywhere near the top 20 worldwide according to TIMES and the recently released Academic Ranking of World Universities, which disgusts me as they obviously don't put our tax dollars to efficient use. Canadian and International universities are doing much better with a fraction of the endowments. Before you start your illiterate red state bullshit again, remember that the good 'ol USA isn't doing too well.

While you continue to troll on youtube videos, Canada continues to excel in Medicine. The Flexner Report awarded the University of Toronto and McGill two of the highest seeds in terms of excellence in medicine. I wouldn't expect a social conservative with the mental faculties of a baboon to grasp the work being done on the frontlines of science by a multitude of institutes, irrespective of their origin. If you dislike Canada why comment on a video about Queen's you cretin ?
Yea but how many American schools does it take to even begin to make the top 20? You guys have WAY more schools than Canada. The fact that we have so few and they still make the list says a lot.
Let's not forget as well, that most schools in Canada are in Ontario - Ontario has the lowest per capita funding and the highest fees.
In this sense we're actually doing crap. And by the way, McGill which is in the top 20 is like $2000/per year (domestic). So, better to pay that than 50k to US schools.
Guess what champ, I left America for Queen's. Bear in mind, I was offered admission to Emory (which you list), as well as several other 'prestigious' American schools. Why? ...Because American schools are expensive and highly overrated.

i agree lol. It's much more of a fuller experience going to school in an actually CITY.
Kingston is full of racists.
London is barren.
Kitchener is too.... German. lol
Plus, where I go, York, you get the best curriculum and life experience. I've learned so much here, that I would've never learned anywhere else.
It's good for poli sci, soci and other arts. It's not a research institute so for sciences at the pro level and grad is limited. undergrad is ok, undergrad doesn't matter anyway.
Kingston IS a city, a beautiful one that I left Toronto to live in. And I could easily say that one has a fuller university experience in a school like Queen's, where the student population is geographically concentrated and the sense of community is strong, than a commuter school like UofT, York or Ryerson.
And I have yet to meet a racist. Although I'm sure they are some lurking somewhere amidst the limestone, they are hardly as prevalent as some here make it seem.
Toronto is a great city too. I've been to other schools from Sudbury all the way to McMaster, and I'm personally happy I stayed in Toronto. In terms of community, UofT and Ryerson may have a hard time, but York is pretty isolated so, even though its a commuter school, there's LOTS of community - that's why we are the most politically active school - and we're also VERY diverse. I know people that have switched to York and were not ever disappointed with the courses or community (admin is diff).
In terms of racism, Kingston is actually KNOWN for racism... especially police racial profiling. I personally know profs who were 'forced' to leave Queens because of racism, or were rejected for jobs they were qualified for.

well, i'm originally from Toronto so Montreal seemed too far when i had two excellent universities quite close by. Queens arts program (specifically english lit) was much too traditional, i found Westerns course selection to more vast and contemporary. I also love Westerns MIT program, which is essentially the only one of its kind in Canada. Anyway, the academic standard to get into Queens or Western is the same (for Arts, at least). :)
If you are going to Queen's, my comment is: You're lucky. 35 yrs ago when I studied there, only 1 out of 200 applicants from my country would get enrolled. Kingston is a nice town to spend your 4 yrs. Ever since I left, I've always be proud to say to others: I'm from Queen's.
The cut-off average is 75%. No one gets it with a final mark of less than that. I think most people get in with an average of around mid-eighties and higher.
Really? I read it was an 80% or above but you proably know more than I do. I had an 87% so it wasn't too hard. I can't wait for move in day!! Only 9 days left!!!
The cut-off average for Arts and Sciences is 80%. For other programs they are higher. I don't know where you're getting your false information from. I got in with high 80's and I'm in Artsci.
The cut-off is 75%, period. This means if they accepted you in April with mid-80s, and your marks drop below 75%, you're gone. I got in with mid-80s and maintained the mark.
Dude, thats not much at all. My parents are paying 15 grand for me to go to a private school and some private schools are 50 grand if you board. What the helll can you buy with 20 grand? A crappy little Honda?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I stand by what I said earlier: twenty grand isn't a lot. It will send someone to college for a semester. Some people can't afford to pay five grand to go to college because they are POOR.
I will continue going to my 'little private school' but I'm not living off my parents. Not everyone who is lucky enough to be wealthy is 'a spoilt little brat.' I find it amazing that you take it upon yourself to judge who I am after reading four sentences on the Internet.
Haha, Little brat. Lets see you earn enough money to pay your way through university. "I'm not a brat, I'm not spoiled, waaah"
You know how much student debt there is in the world? A LOT! Why? Because school is expensive for most people. YOU saying that anyone who can't afford it is POOR is ignorant, snobby and YES bratty. Now go buy a new pair of jeans and feel superior because you can look down on the average student. Tata
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Your pathetic attempt at belittling me is not, in fact, succeeding. I'm not looking down on anyone; I don't know where you got that. I'm simply stating a fact of life. And I do actually work for my own spending money unless it's something over $200. Then my parents get it for me. Just because my parents have money, it doesn't mean that they get me whatever I want. You don't know the first thing about me, so stop pretending you do.
"What the hell can you buy with 20 grand? A crappy little Honda?"
A crappy little Honda (which would require a loan for most) is a way to get around (and LOTS of students bus it).
"Some people can't afford to pay five grand to go to college because they are POOR." "POOR" to you, seems to mean "without excess".
You are very lucky to have everything paid for and being well off does NOT make you a brat. However, trying to belittle people does make you....well, a bit of a brat.
I agree w/ you that 20k is a lot of money, but for many ppl, education is an investment worth paying for, even if they go into debt. I find it disturbing that there is so much judgment. Not everyone who invests heavily in education is a "spoiled brat". And yes, to me, altho Honda is a fine car, when you compare it to a better education, I do consider it "a crappy little Honda". Her point was she shouldn't be judged just b/c some ppl aren't lucky enough to afford private education and she is.
That point was valid, yes. But her insinuation that people who cannot easily afford school are poor was insulting to a lot of students who are making many sacrifices for the sake of their education. It is comparable to a young mother struggling to buy a cheap house, and when she's proud of her achievement having someone roll their eyes and say "Well, my house costs 5 times that." It was the disregard for the financial plight of "the poor" (or the mythological "poor student") that bothers me.
I think part of it is she's a Canadian living in the States, and has to pay US tuition. I'm in the same boat, and pay 45K a year (partly thru loans). So it's frustrating sometimes when all my Canadian friends are complaining about a whopping $600 tuition increase. In my heart I don't begrudge them, but sometimes words do come out wrong. I'll stop trying to defend someone else now, b/c I take your point as well. We should all be more sensitive to the situations of others.
As someone who was accepted in to waterloo and queens, i think it's pretty much safe to say that Queen's is better. no one can beat waterloo's co-op program...but then again if you like studying all year and doing nothing else...go to waterloo!
letitbleed1234 what's ur problem mate? what you said about quebec, canada and myself, whom u don't even know about, tells the real story. It's you who have hate problems. Not me. You fucking idiot!! what aveverage do you need to be accepted?
zakariyakaal 3 years ago
The cut-off average is 75%. No one gets it with a final mark of less than that. I think most people get in with an average of around mid-eighties and higher.
Monfri 3 years ago
Really? I read it was an 80% or above but you proably know more than I do. I had an 87% so it wasn't too hard. I can't wait for move in day!! Only 9 days left!!!
zippy550 3 years ago
The cut-off average for Arts and Sciences is 80%. For other programs they are higher. I don't know where you're getting your false information from. I got in with high 80's and I'm in Artsci.
ZoyaIslam 3 years ago
The cut-off is 75%, period. This means if they accepted you in April with mid-80s, and your marks drop below 75%, you're gone. I got in with mid-80s and maintained the mark.
Monfri 3 years ago
Wow - Lots of bickering going on, but on a brighter note, I got accepted there today!!

Queen's is the most difficult school to be admitted to in Canada. What a stellar institution.

What about McGill
MariaBlack888 4 years ago
Close, but not as hard according to the last Maclean's report that I read
albertagael 4 years ago
Actually, McGill has a higher entrance ranking In addition to no "out of province" quota like at Queens

ignorent hicks, its only one of the best schools worldwide.
Goodchild99 4 years ago
Right. It's a bunch of hicks. That's why I'll be paying 20 grand next year to go there.
thecherbear 4 years ago
Dude, thats not much at all. My parents are paying 15 grand for me to go to a private school and some private schools are 50 grand if you board. What the helll can you buy with 20 grand? A crappy little Honda?
EllaBelle18 4 years ago
Are you stupid? If 20grand isn't a lot, explain to me why some people can't even afford to pay 5grand to go to college.
Keep going to your little private school (I bet you feel good about that, eh?), keep living off of your parents, and keep being a spoiled little brat.

EllaBelle18 4 years ago
Haha, Little brat. Lets see you earn enough money to pay your way through university. "I'm not a brat, I'm not spoiled, waaah"
You know how much student debt there is in the world? A LOT! Why? Because school is expensive for most people. YOU saying that anyone who can't afford it is POOR is ignorant, snobby and YES bratty. Now go buy a new pair of jeans and feel superior because you can look down on the average student. Tata

EllaBelle18 3 years ago
Lets recap, shall we?

Her point was she shouldn't be judged just b/c some ppl aren't lucky enough to afford private education and she is.
sirhumphrey01 3 years ago 4
That point was valid, yes. But her insinuation that people who cannot easily afford school are poor was insulting to a lot of students who are making many sacrifices for the sake of their education. It is comparable to a young mother struggling to buy a cheap house, and when she's proud of her achievement having someone roll their eyes and say "Well, my house costs 5 times that." It was the disregard for the financial plight of "the poor" (or the mythological "poor student") that bothers me.
Deeperwonder 3 years ago
I think part of it is she's a Canadian living in the States, and has to pay US tuition. I'm in the same boat, and pay 45K a year (partly thru loans). So it's frustrating sometimes when all my Canadian friends are complaining about a whopping $600 tuition increase. In my heart I don't begrudge them, but sometimes words do come out wrong. I'll stop trying to defend someone else now, b/c I take your point as well. We should all be more sensitive to the situations of others.
