  • Typical university kids, drunk off their asses, walking around in jogging pants and slippers. Wooo - college! WOOOOO. An experiment in squalor living. University living, odd hours, debt, starvation, would be illegal for people over 25.

  • 95% of queens is 2/3 retarded

  • so..... you;ve inspired me to try and smeak my turtle in rez. ;D

  • i love canada, i love queens

  • Two thousand dollars per year? More like 20,000$!

  • Canadians all seemingly suffer from the typical "Canadian Inferiority Complex".

  • @Roderstheo

lol fuck off jealous american bitch

  • lol

    HOW DO YOU FEEL?!?!??!

  • A DON WITH A HAMSTER?

  • GOOO QUEENS

    WUCK FESTERN!

  • @lavieennoire festern apparently wucked your mom.

  • QUUUEEENS! REPRESENT

  • WESTERN!!

  • @MiaLeonora Queens is better.

  • canada has the brainic universities and hockey players the states have foot faries and well nothing else important

  • @lakeshoreingkt better hockey players play in college in the states

  • I'm going to Queen's in September, and I have to say part of the reason I chose to go was because of the "experience". Undergrad for me was at UofT, and there wasn't enough "esprit de corps" for me. Time for a change baby.

    Queen's!

  • where is this university?

  • @Amayzing33 Kingston, Ontario in Canada

  • it is amazing a Queen's click no my name and you can see a video of it :) (mostly comedy)

  • Im applying there this fall, hope i can get in

  • Queen's University, Tragically Hip, and oh what's that? Kingston Pen!

  • @humbersidehusky

    Brilliant Comment!!

  • WOW a lot of white people.

    I'm glad I didn't go to Queen's...

"Thank you fathers for your virgin daughters"

I would have transferred after 1st year!

  • SURE they do overpopulate than any other race but who caresssss- =)

and Queen's is THAT much fun >D

  • actually they don't, that's why white countries have IMMIGRATION QUOTAS.

Queens is not fun, especially when racialized professors are denied jobs even with tons of experience, and where students and professors alike perpetuate a culture of racism, sexism and hatred in general.

  • huhhh o.0 i' ve seen plenty of great profs and ta's :D and they're..not......white- i mean they are..but not ..'ALL'

meh- i think Queen's is great that's why i go here and I'm not white >) i dont feel this hatred at all o.0;;; but hey- as long as your actually getting something knowledgeable = its all good.

  • That's great that you've had a positive experience. I wouldn't wish upon you (or anyone else) to have a negative experience.

So, perhaps you were unaware - but yea, it's true. Queen's known for it's racism.

My dad's lawyer who actually went to Queen's was teaching there part time for 5-6 years, and when a full time position opened up for the same course, they didn't hire him (he's African btw)

Students and profs alike have complained about racism, and many profs have left Queen's cuz of this

  • you're racist saying the Kitchener is too German and making comments like wow a lot of white people. You're just mad life has not worked out the way you think it should and are blaming others.

  • I'm sure your profs and TAs are awesome... I know some great profs from there.

It's more the university administration - they basically deny there's even a problem and refuse to address it. That's why so many racialized professors have left. It's really unfortunate.

  • shit man, im going back to university. ill take any course.

  • Go Gaels Go!

  • lmao "I came here to drink........ and learn."

  • lol canada sux balls...American schools take a MASSIVE SHIT on this shitty school

  • rofl. you're an idiot

  • how am I an idiot? Canadian schools are totally miniscule compared to ours...I know it, and YOU know it ;)

  • Look up TIME magazine or any published rankings. Worldwide Queen's is a very reputed institute. Do you even have a full high school education? How's the trailer park working out for you ? I wouldn't expect anything less than asinine, dimwitted , and misinformed chest thumping from an neo-con. Rather myopic view of the world you have there you inbred fuck.

And yes, Queen's chicks are pretty hot, but frigid.

  • Consider that Canada has less than 1/10 of our population. Yet they churn out disproportionate amounts of Medical research from their institutes such as UofT, McGill, UBC, McMaster, Concordia, UWO, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Laval and Waterloo. They do pretty damn well for themselves, considering that their average income is now higher than ours as well.

  • Vanderbilt, Georgetown, Rice, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Lehigh, NYU, and Emory aren't anywhere near the top 20 worldwide according to TIMES and the recently released Academic Ranking of World Universities, which disgusts me as they obviously don't put our tax dollars to efficient use. Canadian and International universities are doing much better with a fraction of the endowments. Before you start your illiterate red state bullshit again, remember that the good 'ol USA isn't doing too well.

  • lol the best that has ever existed on the face of the Earth "isn't doing too well"

do you know how retarded that sounds ?

seems like you have a case of the classic "CANADIAN INFERIORITY COMPLEX"...google it ya jealous bitch *_*

  • ...and btw I took a look at that TIMES listing and discovered that....

13 out of 20 of the best schools are AMERICAN

The top 2 school on Earth are AMERICAN

Only 1 school in the the top 20 is from crappy canada......AND ITS #20

Thanks for proving my point dumbass lol

  • This is discounting all undergrad programs, the Academic Ranking of World Universities is more comprehensive and accurate. Learn how to construct an argument idiot. And yes, the US isn't doing well. If you weren't blinded by pride you would realize that.

The best country that has ever existed? Hardly, and certainly not now. If you mean a society run by the bourgeois, and Caligulan excess then sure.. whatever floats your fucking boat. Can you be bothered at the PROS and CONS rationally?

  • While you continue to troll on youtube videos, Canada continues to excel in Medicine. The Flexner Report awarded the University of Toronto and McGill two of the highest seeds in terms of excellence in medicine. I wouldn't expect a social conservative with the mental faculties of a baboon to grasp the work being done on the frontlines of science by a multitude of institutes, irrespective of their origin. If you dislike Canada why comment on a video about Queen's you cretin ?

  • social conservative? how do you figure??? I voted for Obama....although I am registered Independant

  • A pity your political ideals are so ill-conceived and half-boiled.

And.. you can't spell the name of the party you are a supposedly registered for.. Christ.. where do I begin with you ?

Get in to one of the schools you have a boner for, do well, become a doctor and then maybe we'll have a valid discussion.

Until then this lame flame-war is over.

  • Queen's.. and Ivy level undergrad education at a fraction of the price. Rick Mercer is hilarious.

  • LOL, well said Bal. Independant? lol, i suppose this is what they are teaching at his precious schools...

  • Yea but how many American schools does it take to even begin to make the top 20? You guys have WAY more schools than Canada. The fact that we have so few and they still make the list says a lot.

Let's not forget as well, that most schools in Canada are in Ontario - Ontario has the lowest per capita funding and the highest fees.

In this sense we're actually doing crap. And by the way, McGill which is in the top 20 is like $2000/per year (domestic). So, better to pay that than 50k to US schools.

  • @muziquelle Tuition at McGill is $2000 per year? Western Canadian universities are like 3000 per term...

  • Guess what champ, I left America for Queen's. Bear in mind, I was offered admission to Emory (which you list), as well as several other 'prestigious' American schools. Why? ...Because American schools are expensive and highly overrated.

All of my classmates from high school went on to American colleges/universities; I know from experience that the undergraduate programs of Queen's, U of T, and McGill : Graduate-level work, research, etc. :: those of American schools : kindergarten.

  • You are only right if you are referring to IVY league, any of the others you mention are jokes compared to Queen's. Do some ACTUAL research first buddy.

  • Comment removed

  • wow, you're a huge jerk

  • LOL Funniest country? Yea, I guess Faux News Channel, CNN and MSNBC ARE pretty funny. Not to mention your politicians (the baby as a prop at senate was HILARIOUS!)

If you're talking about funny PEOPLE, it's because you steal our comedians. Don't kid yourself.

Russell Peters - Colin Mochrie - Jim Carrey - Dan Aykroyd - John Candy - Michael J Fox - Tom Green - Phil Hartman - Eugene Levy - Mike Myers - Leslie Nielson - Will Sasso - Martin Short - Caroline Rhea

    Shall I go on?

  • lol, alot of Queen's chicks look super hot on the outside but most are pretty frigid and scared to death of men.

  • i wonder why? could it have something to do with the misogyny that exists there maybe?

  • @muziquelle Oh PLEASE...is there ANything you like about the School??? What you call "misogyny' is more likely people not liking that stick you have up your ass....

  • yah my home town university QUEENS RULES!

  • university is for fags, loyalist college!

  • Wats the name of the song in the background

  • i guess every1 in every uni would know, shit gets around n queens is a bunch of fruits

  • the best

  • lmao I'm going there next year. =)

  • GO KINGSTON!!!!!!!!

  • Gord-Brock rules!

  • vic hallin!

  • We have a digital sign?

  • I hate queens... only cause I didn't get in and I really wanted to, so I'm holding a grudge and my opinion doesn't count.

  • it's ok the Toronto university's are better

  • U of T might be. The rest...no way.

  • i agree lol. It's much more of a fuller experience going to school in an actually CITY.

    Kingston is full of racists.

    London is barren.

    Kitchener is too.... German. lol

Plus, where I go, York, you get the best curriculum and life experience. I've learned so much here, that I would've never learned anywhere else.

It's good for poli sci, soci and other arts. It's not a research institute so for sciences at the pro level and grad is limited. undergrad is ok, undergrad doesn't matter anyway.

  • @muziquelle

Kingston IS a city, a beautiful one that I left Toronto to live in. And I could easily say that one has a fuller university experience in a school like Queen's, where the student population is geographically concentrated and the sense of community is strong, than a commuter school like UofT, York or Ryerson.

And I have yet to meet a racist. Although I'm sure they are some lurking somewhere amidst the limestone, they are hardly as prevalent as some here make it seem.

  • Toronto is a great city too. I've been to other schools from Sudbury all the way to McMaster, and I'm personally happy I stayed in Toronto. In terms of community, UofT and Ryerson may have a hard time, but York is pretty isolated so, even though its a commuter school, there's LOTS of community - that's why we are the most politically active school - and we're also VERY diverse. I know people that have switched to York and were not ever disappointed with the courses or community (admin is diff).

  • In terms of racism, Kingston is actually KNOWN for racism... especially police racial profiling. I personally know profs who were 'forced' to leave Queens because of racism, or were rejected for jobs they were qualified for.

That's awesome that you haven't experienced this negative aspect. And if you are not a person of colour, it would probably make sense. If you ARE a person of colour, that's even better - but it still does not make this systemic issue of racism and sexism go away there.

  • western is the other best university in ontario -- UofT is good for some programs too, i suppose.

so don't hate queens, there are less pretentious schools. i got into queens and mcgill but turned them both down for western.

  • LOL WOW

  • what's wow?

  • turned down queens and mcgill for western...for what program?

  • well, i'm originally from Toronto so Montreal seemed too far when i had two excellent universities quite close by. Queens arts program (specifically english lit) was much too traditional, i found Westerns course selection to more vast and contemporary. I also love Westerns MIT program, which is essentially the only one of its kind in Canada. Anyway, the academic standard to get into Queens or Western is the same (for Arts, at least). :)

  • This vid made me sOOoOoOo wet LOL

    :) Thanks zh

  • what residence is this?

  • leggett hall, best damn residence you'll see at any university in canada, i'm there right now.

  • I was living on the floor below when this was filmed!

  • Also, it wasn't called Leggett Hall yet at the time.

  • If you are going to Queen's, my comment is: You're lucky. 35 yrs ago when I studied there, only 1 out of 200 applicants from my country would get enrolled. Kingston is a nice town to spend your 4 yrs. Ever since I left, I've always be proud to say to others: I'm from Queen's.

  • No disrespect, but lol Kingston a really dirty city. And the enrollment problem you had I can assure you is no longer in existence.

  • This is pretty awesome - makes me glad I'm going to Queen's next year, although I probably won't be drinking.

PS: The kid in green from the NDP is cute.

  • hmm.. interesting o.o Queen's was much more pretty at the open house. Ah well, I am off to the castle anywayz.

  • i live in kingston!

  • and your dumb

  • it's amazing! you'll love it here!

  • Congrats man I got accepted to Queen's too!!

  • what aveverage do you need to be accepted?

  • The cut-off average is 75%. No one gets it with a final mark of less than that. I think most people get in with an average of around mid-eighties and higher.

  • Really? I read it was an 80% or above but you proably know more than I do. I had an 87% so it wasn't too hard. I can't wait for move in day!! Only 9 days left!!!

  • The cut-off average for Arts and Sciences is 80%. For other programs they are higher. I don't know where you're getting your false information from. I got in with high 80's and I'm in Artsci.

  • The cut-off is 75%, period. This means if they accepted you in April with mid-80s, and your marks drop below 75%, you're gone. I got in with mid-80s and maintained the mark.

  • Wow - Lots of bickering going on, but on a brighter note, I got accepted there today!!

  • Queen's is the most difficult school to be admitted to in Canada. What a stellar institution.

    Cha gheill!

  • Close, but not as hard according to the last Maclean's report that I read

  • Actually, McGill has a higher entrance ranking In addition to no "out of province" quota like at Queens

  • "NDP?- Do you guys drink? Oh wait your the potheads" hahahaha Rick Mercer rules :)

  • Oh wow, $4000 dollar tuition?!? It's over $7000 this year! Also Queen's Rules.

  • "4 beers and a slice of Pizza"

    CANADA RULES ! lol

  • lotta shaving cream....lotta grass and mud.

    lol

  • Hi Rick... Hi Rob....LMFAO

    Mercer is cool!

  • This from an ignorant hick.

  • ignorent hicks, its only one of the best schools worldwide.

  • Right. It's a bunch of hicks. That's why I'll be paying 20 grand next year to go there.

  • Dude, thats not much at all. My parents are paying 15 grand for me to go to a private school and some private schools are 50 grand if you board. What the helll can you buy with 20 grand? A crappy little Honda?

  • Are you stupid? If 20grand isn't a lot, explain to me why some people can't even afford to pay 5grand to go to college.

Keep going to your little private school (I bet you feel good about that, eh?), keep living off of your parents, and keep being a spoiled little brat.

  • Haha, Little brat. Lets see you earn enough money to pay your way through university. "I'm not a brat, I'm not spoiled, waaah"

You know how much student debt there is in the world? A LOT! Why? Because school is expensive for most people. YOU saying that anyone who can't afford it is POOR is ignorant, snobby and YES bratty. Now go buy a new pair of jeans and feel superior because you can look down on the average student. Tata

  • Lets recap, shall we?

"What the hell can you buy with 20 grand? A crappy little Honda?"

A crappy little Honda (which would require a loan for most) is a way to get around (and LOTS of students bus it).

"Some people can't afford to pay five grand to go to college because they are POOR." "POOR" to you, seems to mean "without excess".

You are very lucky to have everything paid for and being well off does NOT make you a brat. However, trying to belittle people does make you....well, a bit of a brat.

  • I agree w/ you that 20k is a lot of money, but for many ppl, education is an investment worth paying for, even if they go into debt. I find it disturbing that there is so much judgment. Not everyone who invests heavily in education is a "spoiled brat". And yes, to me, altho Honda is a fine car, when you compare it to a better education, I do consider it "a crappy little Honda". Her point was she shouldn't be judged just b/c some ppl aren't lucky enough to afford private education and she is.

  • That point was valid, yes. But her insinuation that people who cannot easily afford school are poor was insulting to a lot of students who are making many sacrifices for the sake of their education. It is comparable to a young mother struggling to buy a cheap house, and when she's proud of her achievement having someone roll their eyes and say "Well, my house costs 5 times that." It was the disregard for the financial plight of "the poor" (or the mythological "poor student") that bothers me.

  • I think part of it is she's a Canadian living in the States, and has to pay US tuition. I'm in the same boat, and pay 45K a year (partly thru loans). So it's frustrating sometimes when all my Canadian friends are complaining about a whopping $600 tuition increase. In my heart I don't begrudge them, but sometimes words do come out wrong. I'll stop trying to defend someone else now, b/c I take your point as well. We should all be more sensitive to the situations of others.

  • isnt queens where all the gay ppl go?......

  • I guess you would know

  • Queen's is the best school in Canada.

  • As someone who was accepted in to waterloo and queens, i think it's pretty much safe to say that Queen's is better. no one can beat waterloo's co-op program...but then again if you like studying all year and doing nothing else...go to waterloo!

  • waterloo is better

  • Pshh, don't even complain about the costs!

College here in the US is about $48,000 at the end.

(That why I'm coming to Queen's next year! lol...)

  • You gotta love Queens! But you don't have to love their winters...

  • "NDP?... you're potheads" lol

  • letitbleed1234 what's ur problem mate? what you said about quebec, canada and myself, whom u don't even know about, tells the real story. It's you who have hate problems. Not me. You fucking idiot!! 'disingenuous prepubescent' just for calling Mercer a conservative? looks like a sissy named letitbleed1234 actually lacks maturity!!!Don't use those words when u don't know where to use them.

  • sounds like letitbleed hit a nerve, but judging from your reaction he/she was correct - you do sound like a disingenuous prepubescent...

and you're from Quebec, so you must be an asshole as well
