I made a biowastebasket out of newspaper, according to this model. I can throw one out every to the compost every other day or every day if it smells and it'll decompose nicely. I put a bit of extra newspaper at the bottom to prevent it from getting wet and breaking.

and we used them to contain seeds and/or shells of fruits or nuts. sometimes fishbones or shells from seafood at dinner.

These are so neat...I have them all over my house for little trash.  They're great for used kleenex (tissues), cotton swabs and so many other things. I keep my chargeable batteries in small ones I've made. Fun to make, too.
