How naive people are. What do you want Brown to do, compound the snub of the French by being equally undiplomatic ! He cannot. It is clearly up to the French who they invite to their country. The fact they continually diminish Britains role in freeing them from Nazi Tryanny, says more about their lack of self confidence and sense of dishonour that it was the French Right who collaborated with the Nazis and connived at her surrender in 1940. I don't understand why people are blaming Gordon Brown. Apparently the Queen wasn't invited, maybe after such a rude snub, Gordon Brown & Stephen Harper of Canada said they would go along on her behalf. I seriously doubt Gordon Brown would upset Royal Protocol, the embarrasment was caused by the lack of invitation from the French government. Gordon Brown also does state that had the Queen wished to attend (after the snub) he would have made it possible for her.

I always find the best way to answer a logical argument is to make ridiculous generalisations and sweeping assertions based on nothing more than my own inflated opinion.
