  • Congrats from an indian today that politicians like raj thackeray, lalu, mayawati are doing politics on the basis of region and religion, poor students were assaulted by MNS, north indian labourers were attacked in pune by MNS, a school function in nashik turned into riot by MNS just after a month of 26/11 attacks just bcos kids played some bhojpuri music, they were still in shock. MNS vandalized public properties, raj thackeray is not making jobs but destroying nation's unity & economy.

  • wow the comment below was surprising...lol but thanks!

  • Listening to this song is a privilege.....my favorite rahman song of all time

  • A.R.Rahman rules!

  • yes man.

he is something in the era of post 90s indian music. and will be one among the tops musicians in india.

  • please-

    He's good

    enjoy the song

  • Can somebody plz tell me in what respect are Rahman's works in Rang De Basanti any less than his music ompositions in Slumdog Millionaire?

According to me,A.R.Rahman deserved an Oscar award for Rang De Basanti quite as much as he deserved it for Slumdog Millionaire..or may be even more..

  • Slumdog was a Hollywood movie. Hollywood movies just have to compete with other hollywood movies. And hence its pretty easy to get an award there.

While Rang De Basanti was Bollywood. So it will go on in the "Foreign film category". Its much more difficult to win there as you are against films of all countries except US and Europe. And theres also a possibility that there are no awards for Music in Foreign film category.

  • slumdog wasn't exactly hollywood.....it was produced and directed by british and filmed by an indian crew....it was just distributed by fox searchlight as they needed wider distribution....otherwise it would have gone to dvd....and probably be less known then even rang de basanti....

  • What I meant was, that in Oscars it was categorised as Hollywood. In that category its easy to win awards as other films are also of Hollywood. So some Hollywood movie would win every year.

While Bollywood movies are categorised as 'foreign' films, where only one country(out of many movie industries) wins so its unlikely India would win always.

  • Exactly what Pinterushu said. AR Rahman might be brilliant, but in the US he will probably only ever be known as the guy who composed the music for Slumdog Millionaire (if he's remembered at all). It's sad, but that's why in America we shouldn't rely on mainstream culture to expose us to all the great artists out there. I'm an American teen, and I've been listening to Rahman for years - but only because I found out about him on my own.

  • bravo

  • Wow ! Really !! Which one is your fav then?

  • hey dont worry. He has lots of plans to produce music at the world stage and not just film music. He has opened a music conservatory in India and is training about 100 of the most talented kids in all forms of classical/western music. Once this group is trained, he will mostly do world music ( like Yanni) and very less films. He is young and he is VERY ambitious. So watch out for him in about 5 years time!

  • right on

  • come on, don't compare. his musics deserved oscar for rdb, taal, and many more.

even guru songs are better than sdm.

i could believe many of them deserved oscar but not sdm. sdm was given as he deserves and they can't give him in an indian movie so they managed to give him in a non-indian movie. that's it.

  • the songs from sdm (slumdog) were new to america and americans, and, like all of rahman's work, was great. So, they lovesd and, gave it 2 oscars

  • ausum!! love dis vid!!

  • AR Rahman - great composer, great singer

  • Okay I have a question. I am fairly new to Bollywood and have learned that kissing is basically not accepted, however, I've noticed that Aamir does kiss quite a bit in his films. Granted, they're all pretty anemic as screen kisses go, but I've read where there have been major controversies over kissing in films. Such as Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2. But there didn't seem to be any controversy over the kiss in this movie. Can anyone explain? I'm just trying to learn. Thanks.

  • I dont think Hrithik's and Ash's kiss created any controversy... it's just that ash was engaged with abhishek, hence his father amitabh requested the scene to be cut.

  • Oh, okay. I read a couple of articles which talked about the controversy, so I thought there must have been some big brouhaha over it. So, is kissing becoming an accepted part of Bollywood films now?

  • As far as I know, kissing was never unacceptable in the first place.

  • well, kissin isnt unacceptable.. About the kiss in Dhoom, (Hrithik n aish), there was some controversy, purposedly created to get publicity! There are many films with kissin scenes w/o ne objections! The little controversy over dhoom was jus to hype up the movie..

  • its in delhi!
