I never got Springsteen -- the hype, the Rolling Stone gush while Seger was condescendingly tagged a "heartland rocker." But if East Coast people feel about him the way Detroiters feel about Seger, more power to him. Yet Seger, as a songwriter, is so much more QUOTABLE. He's everywhere!

You said it. Springsteen is the 2nd most overrated rocker in history (Hendrix being the 1st). Seger was the man, his only contemporaries were Henley/Frey and Gregg Allman. I really wish Gregg and Bob would've done something together.

That is the BEST song he has. I was after a girl who had every excuse not to be my girl friend. I used the song to get her to give me our first kiss. I used the song the first time I asked her to marry me (Overlooking the Ocean in St. Augustine FL.) I used it the second time I asked (I had her in a row boat on the Neckar River in Germany). Weve been married 15 ½ years and have 5 children together. GREATEST SONG EVER!

Very underrated artist. Bruce got all the attention and awards, and ya, whose gonna argue with Springsteen, but when Seger got it right, I found his songs even more enjoyable than Bruces. This song, against the wind, beautiful loser, night moves, those all are equal if not greater than Springsteen.
