  • Wonderful piece! This video actually made me buy a Guanzi and start learning to play! The more traditional pieces are also very fascinating, but this is of course more accessible to the Westerner's ear not accustomed to Chinese music. However, I am working myself into a better understanding of the traditional style as well. Thank you for uploading!

  • What a great performance !

  • 好棒!!

  • wu lao shi, very sad he's gone. i rmb watching his solo once. totally mesmerised.

  • where was the concert held???

  • Musikverein (Goldener Saal), Vienna.

  • I especially like 1:31 - 1:59

  • Out of the song of baliu, the lift of the ancient roads and etc, which one was this?

  • his style is incredible...the soloist. I love the turns and the double tonguing on those ascending sequences..I really like this piece!

  • unfortunately, master Wu passed away.

  • wait..... a whole brass section??

  • french horns in chinese orchestra???

  • come on, this is obviously a western orchesta with some Chinese instruments

  • Its called the Oriental Symphony.

  • naturally. Even orchestras composed entirely of chinese instruments are inherently based off of western models. In traditional Chinese music, there is no such thing as an "orchestra". Hell, the classical western orchestra itself is no more than 200 years old.
