  • Great gig, It was such a great summer I turned up with a sleeping bag as it was all u needed, slept in a few benders but mainly under the stars

  • stayed for nearly 2 weeks as well at this one, arrived with tent s bag and all the gear, went home with clothes on my back sandals and a toothbrush, AWESOME!!

  • Fucking AWESOME! I wish I'd been old enough - I would definitely have been there...

    Where is that 'Utopia'...

  • whoa, free jazz on a sax really does require a lot of skill,.... see Louise Elliot of Laughing Clowns

  • I went there on a lovely summers day in June 84 and stayed for Two weeks. It was like landing on a different plantet, once in a lifetime experience. And never to be repeat again

  • Somerzett

  • i was at this, was only 17,its strange seein it

  • i worked the stage at henge 84 whilst this still nick...i dont recall any cameras apart from one who from salvation films who filmed it..there must be a few fill ins on this

  • worst song off the live album and at least this clip shows why. Turner is a shocking singer. Visually at least it holds interest. we are the survivors travelling thru tiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth Don't know how you can say that, I was there and I can remember every syllable he sang. Much better diction and delivery than Dave, anyway. Him and Bob were both brilliant frontmen. Dave (blesshim) is much more sedate, and less visually striking. Shorter too. Hahah!

  • I was monged out in front of the stage

  • The longjohns and boots is a classic combo.

  • How I wish I had been there!

  • Live in concrete jungles................... How true

Now sitting in a concrete jungle on a computer watching this .............. STONEHENGE BEST ACIDAZE

  • Ha ha! Unkle Nik - he's a bloody lunatic!

  • Nik Turner was on a right one that night !

  • Stonehenge free festival was just like nothing on earth ;)

  • brown mic and shrooms

  • @bogsalmon ...indeed...

  • that must of been the Friar Tuck cafe, we used it as a hang out when we were younger, its still there, and i remember those chalk messages, used to see them on the walk from the town upto the stones, free advertising!

  • I love it New Romantic Pagans. Just brilliant

  • @creaton1976 Old Romantic Hippys more like!

  • lived just a short walk away in Amesbury & went to all the free fests as a teenager, 70's-80's, oh what an education, hawkwind were brilliant

  • we used to visit a cafe in Amesbury during the festivals. Used to see many chalk markings selling various substances on the footpaths.

  • finger stole my stash - OR - finger / stool / moustache

  • FLYIN' IS TRYIN' IS DYIN'~i wiz there too

  • I wiz there too.those were the dayz.

  • You can imagine... blasted on an orange blotter... things taking a strange turn. Thank goodness for the supremely good company! I was there in 1988...rockin

  • brillant vid, Nick turner for an award to the people

  • needs more volume!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ah those were the days when we still had a little freedom

  • Is that Lemmy still on Bass in 84?

  • No Lemmy had long since gone. That is Alan Davey on bass who has only recently left the band.

  • I went to Stonehenge that year.. I missed all this shenanigans.

  • thanks. had a good night, finished with this

    go for safesurfer

    julian cope as a follow

  • Looks like anarchy out there

  • Ha Ha, really?

  • omg i was there that year,or so iv been told...lol..i could hear them from the stones

  • i do indeed remember the aforementioned field marshall slug..i was in a band with simon about 5 years ago and still see him...he is still very stupid.....

  • Does any body remember Field Marshal Slug ??

  • anyone remember screaming sister arrrhhhhhh!

  • sid rawle is still around somewhere, wales probably but the so called king of the hippies wasn't at the beanfield in 85 tho

think he stayed at savernake forest with women folk

  • this is the gig fIELD mARSHAL sLUG WAS GOING TO PLAY BUT WERE NOT THERE. amazingly sounding like The Slugs.. Thank You Nik. xxx

  • i was at this, one of the first gigs i went to

  • JUST FUZZ play with them on 7 June at the Wye Festival, Hereford - dont MISS it!!!!

  • PURE PANTS! THEY WERE GOOD ONCE FFS

  • I think the best Hawkwind set at Stonehenge was the 1977 one. They played after Tim Blake and his crystal machine did a set there was an acid famine but it made nor difference it was still a great set..fantastic set !! Nik Turners Sphinx played either 77 or 78 and was also awesome anyone know which year ??

  • Anyone remember that pratt Sid Rules?

  • I remember "The Enid" supporting Hawkwind ... lots of the crowd were wearing luminous green bands round their necks and when the mist came down it looked like a sea of disembodied heads... the acid was quite good that year, and you could see the druids observing the solstice while the bands played. The veggie burger in the morning was green... (thx Fiona) and then Glastonbury...

  • The pink faries dropped acid at my house back in 1974.

In 1983 the Enid dropped acid at my house... How about that then?

  • That must have been a hell of a house!!

  • It was! Imagine.. no electricity, mad hippies watching melted plastic dripping from the ceiling! Police kicking in the door every other day! Hells angels, dope smokers. And me a 7 year old kid trying to live life amongst that!

  • And now I bet you make your kids tidy their room every evening. ;)

  • At least twice a week! :)

  • i bought one of those luminous green things and i thought they would glow forever (yeh i know, stupid). Bloody freezing though - i remember The Enid being heckled at the start, but that was because they were asking for money - for their cause, The Stand (or some such crap) very good band though - seen them loads

  • Its when Field Marshal Slug were going to support them and they got drunk and missed the amazing oppertuniteyyy... Oh Dear Wot A Shame ....

  • where,s the midgets...

  • no hawkwind played sunrise and sunset, think poison girls were a different day good microdots though cannot be sure, i can see myself on this video

  • Poison Girls playing at sunset was the best part of that day ... or was it the same day, it's all a bit of a blur. All I remember was it became a bit too much during hawkwind, had to go for a lie down and missed the sunrise ...

  • Wow. I remember it....well kind of. Still gives me goose bumps whenever I hear them. Did anyone make the Cricket St Thomas gig in Somerset? Can't remember what year...There was a lightening storm as they came on.....Just amazing.

  • i was there dude! wicked! bikers mag run. can't remember the year though! :)

  • the girls make sing!!!

  • im like almost crying now

  • This is when Field Marshal Slug did not Turn Up !!

  • I always prefer ed Nic out of Hawkwind but that's not to say I don't love him...a real man of the people, gave me soup one night and a puff on some mean weed.

The Atom-henge set preformed at Stonehenge was fantastic, only one sight hic up when the hippy chick I was "with" had a eppipy because of the lights. Even so she really enjoyed the set.

  • They also did a great set at the Henge in 197? (6 or 7) , Calvert was on top form...long ago now.

  • i saw hawkwind several times in early 70ty.....they are the world's best kept secret......they were AMAZING LIVE!!! genius....to say the least...

  • ""Any hippy chick fancy a shag at Stone Henge tonight? "" moeah ,,-)))) GREAT!

  • yes I would say they do but not with u

  • I was also there. I thought they said they was going to play a gig at the stones on the solstice. They didn't - they played the night before.

  • hey man i was there, 84, still have the poster on my wall. yea i was watching the grass grow, its still growing, Far out man!!

  • smelly

  • I saw someone had written in yellow that my writting

was SHITE and I began to cry and lactate bloody clam chowder which only caused me more tears, but unfortunatly more bloody clam chowder lactation. I better lay off the GAwnigawnjah!!!

  • Lost am I in this world it's time to snash zambo.

Can I find a doorway to which I must fuckin' go?

I...LOvE Hawkwind much much more than Neil from the young ones, but we may not be the young ones anyMORE!

Darling...Anyway, who is that guy who writes their songs. Will someone post his name above somewhere. I wanna read one of his books.

  • this is wots shite aboot the hawks!

  • and your spelling is also shite!

  • dood shouldnt u be out doin community service

  • Community Service?!!! What world do you live in?

Does'nt everyone sit on the computer writting messages on YouTube?! HeeaVey!!!!

  • Any hippy chick fancy a shag at Stone Henge tonight?

  • OrangeSquash 1234 wanted me to tell the Hippy Chicks that he's still waiting for them at Stone Henge with 12 extra hits of Blotter Acid..."Come on down!"

    Wicked! (Sigh)

  • I like the girls dancing around in dresses.

  • Why does some bloke shouting complete bollocks always seem to sound more plausible when accompanyed by a synth or bass guitar playing in the background?!! Even if that bloke is Nik Turner. Very curious. I do think his 'do not panic' sequence later, is pretty good by itself though. Hawkwind, of course, sounding much the same on all the songs they play here, good job they all sound amazing and completely rock!!

  • grandiosi, belle idee

  • Oh God this is beautiful

  • best line up was when Nik was with Hawkwind innit... oh for a time machine (painted Silver of course!)

  • these guys are absolutly brillant!! i wish i had been there.>>

  • Great!
