stayed for nearly 2 weeks as well at this one, arrived with tent s bag and all the gear, went home with clothes on my back sandals and a toothbrush, AWESOME!!
I went there on a lovely summers day in June 84 and stayed for Two weeks. It was like landing on a different plantet, once in a lifetime experience. And never to be repeat again
I went there on a lovely summers day in June 84 and stayed for Two weeks. It was like landing on a different plantet, once in a lifetime experience. And never to be repeat again
i worked the stage at henge 84 whilst this still nick...i dont recall any cameras apart from one who from salvation films who filmed it..there must be a few fill ins on this
worst song off the live album and at least this clip shows why. Turner is a shocking singer. Visually at least it holds interest. we are the survivors travelling thru tiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeee
@LiteracyLabyrinth Don't know how you can say that, I was there and I can remember every syllable he sang. Much better diction and delivery than Dave, anyway. Him and Bob were both brilliant frontmen. Dave (blesshim) is much more sedate, and less visually striking. Shorter too. Hahah!
that must of been the Friar Tuck cafe, we used it as a hang out when we were younger, its still there, and i remember those chalk messages, used to see them on the walk from the town upto the stones, free advertising!
You can imagine... blasted on an orange blotter... things taking a strange turn. Thank goodness for the supremely good company! I was there in 1988...rockin
i do indeed remember the aforementioned field marshall slug..i was in a band with simon about 5 years ago and still see him...he is still very stupid.....
I think the best Hawkwind set at Stonehenge was the 1977 one. They played after Tim Blake and his crystal machine did a set there was an acid famine but it made nor difference it was still a great set..fantastic set !! Nik Turners Sphinx played either 77 or 78 and was also awesome anyone know which year ??
I remember "The Enid" supporting Hawkwind ... lots of the crowd were wearing luminous green bands round their necks and when the mist came down it looked like a sea of disembodied heads... the acid was quite good that year, and you could see the druids observing the solstice while the bands played. The veggie burger in the morning was green... (thx Fiona) and then Glastonbury...
It was! Imagine.. no electricity, mad hippies watching melted plastic dripping from the ceiling! Police kicking in the door every other day! Hells angels, dope smokers. And me a 7 year old kid trying to live life amongst that!
i bought one of those luminous green things and i thought they would glow forever (yeh i know, stupid). Bloody freezing though - i remember The Enid being heckled at the start, but that was because they were asking for money - for their cause, The Stand (or some such crap) very good band though - seen them loads
Poison Girls playing at sunset was the best part of that day ... or was it the same day, it's all a bit of a blur. All I remember was it became a bit too much during hawkwind, had to go for a lie down and missed the sunrise ...
Wow. I remember it....well kind of. Still gives me goose bumps whenever I hear them. Did anyone make the Cricket St Thomas gig in Somerset? Can't remember what year...There was a lightening storm as they came on.....Just amazing.
I always prefer ed Nic out of Hawkwind but that's not to say I don't love him...a real man of the people, gave me soup one night and a puff on some mean weed.
The Atom-henge set preformed at Stonehenge was fantastic, only one sight hic up when the hippy chick I was "with" had a eppipy because of the lights. Even so she really enjoyed the set.
I saw someone had written in yellow that my writting
was SHITE and I began to cry and lactate bloody clam chowder which only caused me more tears, but unfortunatly more bloody clam chowder lactation. I better lay off the GAwnigawnjah!!!
OrangeSquash 1234 wanted me to tell the Hippy Chicks that he's still waiting for them at Stone Henge with 12 extra hits of Blotter Acid..."Come on down!"
Why does some bloke shouting complete bollocks always seem to sound more plausible when accompanyed by a synth or bass guitar playing in the background?!! Even if that bloke is Nik Turner. Very curious. I do think his 'do not panic' sequence later, is pretty good by itself though. Hawkwind, of course, sounding much the same on all the songs they play here, good job they all sound amazing and completely rock!!
