how can he use the monkey fist in the fajing movement without injury to his thumb? I'm not a chinese martial arts practitioner so I apologise for my ignorance. the clip is a 2: 09, thanks!
he isnt hitting with his thumb in 2:09 it is the first finger, you bend the first finger and let the second knuckle stick out higher, above the other knuckles and stab with it.
Thanks for responding! I know the strike is made with the finger, but wont the force of the strike cause the fingers to push the thumb in a unnatural angle? Again, I only ask because I do not understand, I would NEVER challange Hisham's knowledge.
no i dont even see how that could happen. i dont do chinese martial arts either, all of my strikes are with fists or occassionally hammer or palm but no, hitting with index finger knuckle doesnt hurt your thumb.
@jmikejapan fingers you throw is not straight, remember it,there also has a angle when u throwing palms. the training of fingers are actually increase the hardness of fingers, look at the hawks claw, then u know how to strike with fingers
@brooklynmonk1 Can you also cover lethwei and Predal Serey in the future? I know their styles are a little different than muay thai and they like to use headbutts along with the 8 limbs.
i have done a show on bradal serey Martial Arts Odessey Khmer Boxing and i will be doing more of those videos this week. i cant cover lethwei because i am not permitted to enter burma
Thank you for keeping TMA (traditional martial arts) alive and preserving a COMPLETE working system :-)!
It was a hard work to gather all the TMA-knowledge.
I traveled to "The Monkeyfist Gate" school in Tainan and as everybody now can see, real style Gongfu still lives and this cultural treasure must be kept alive!
Nice explanations. I find that anytime you can strike and maintain complete balance ( as he was saying about keeping the feet flat ) you project more energy, even if the strike has less velocity.
so there is no real MOnkey doing kickboxing?? Oh you suck.. bring on the MONKEY.
