Most people don't understand the importance of this concept. Bassets have an arched back and can't simply be picked up just any way. They don't like being on their backs unless they're supported in a cushion. Love me a basset
just like how I used to do with mine. But now he has a lot of back pain, so I avoid to pick him up as much as possible. But I used to do this little filp to carry him with the belly up. They look so cute in this position!
What a cute dog, I can't pick my Basset up anymore. He is 67 pounds and way to long for just one person to hold. Some Basset's are bigger then others in length, mine is one of the really long ones.
@hockeystickbd I wonder if you have an Artesian Normand Basset? That's what my Merlin is. He's a bit taller, has slightly shorter ears and weighs a whopping 76 pounds. I definitely can't lift him by myself!
