@masondarko That was kinda the issue and the whole point, and he didn't stop right away. I mean he dragged himself to meet Emily, and he went to Kyle's party. He was even going to go to Prom, something he clearly thought was totally NOT cool, but yes once he HAD Rory he kinda gave up on impressing her.

That's just the kinda guy he was though. Part of why he worked so hard for Rory was because he HAD to. Rory also kinda let's him stop too. Remember the Hockey Game and the Distiller tickets.
